Gentleman, you guys hit it out the park, no other video comes close. This is the best demonstration of the 'Primary Arms ACSS 1-6' I have ever seen, bar none. Using a real man to demonstrate, places this demo at the top of the heap. Brilliant video, I'm now a subscriber because of it, thank you all..
This is the best features demonstration I have seen of the ACSS reticle. I especially appreciated how you point out and demonstrate (on a black t-shirt) that the 1-6 has full illumination of the BDC/ranging marks. That is an important little feature that separates these two models....much more important to me than the difference in total magnification. All of my questions have been answered. I must have one. Great video.
Your video is still relevant 3 years later. After years of nothing but every red dot out there my eyes are giving way to age and I need something. Thank you so much.
Great job guys. I've seen about 50 videos explaining this reticle. None come close to this one, also really good job showing the difference between 6X and 8x on an actual man size target. Well done.
The literature that comes with the scope is very detailed. One point that this video overlooks is to "lead" a man walking from 100 to 300 yards away, you use the left or right edge of the "horseshoe" to accurately judge the lead before shooting. The ability to accurately judge distance by either target height or shoulder width is another plus to the ACSS. This is most expensive scope that I've ever purchased so you know I'm not rich. The only change I would make to my 1-6 ACSS is to make the sight dimmer have "off" detents between intensity settings. The platinum version of this scope does have the off detents, but it was a bit out of my price range. Am I happy with what I own...hell yeah!
Absolutely the best video on the ACSS 1-6/1-8. No one is showing this is such great detail. That's what i was looking for before i made a choice. Thank you guys!
I had the PA 1-6x24 ACSS for bout a year now and, I Love it. I Wouldn't Trade it. Dimitri Did an AWESOME JOB on All his scopes that he designs. I Highly Recommend these to anybody.
Thank you for demonstrating the difference between the two scopes on a human size target at different ranges from a 1st person perspective. This was extremely helpful and I couldn't find any other reviewers who gave us this information. Thumbs way up guys!
This video is that LPVO review you needed, but didn't know it until you saw it. I am saving it. Thank you. For my eyesight and preference I went with the PA Slx Nova. Excellent glass, clean view with super bright and fine dot. I've never had such an easy time plinking Pepsi cans at 150 yards. It really spoils you over other scopes.
One of the best scope reviews I’ve watched. Most either just talk a lot with a small glance at the reticle or just show the reticle with minimal discussion. Perfect balance.
I appreciate that you guys are putting a camera through the optic out at range!!! I've been looking for a channel that's doing this so I know what it'll look like before I buy a lpvo. Thank you! Gained a subscriber
I think I like the 1-6x. $100 less and full illumination of the ranging portion of the reticle. The lack of illumination on the ranging portion of the 1-8x makes it hard to range in low light conditions.
I like the fact that the horizontal lines on the bdc is also scaled to the 18", so you do not need to range with the right hand scale but can use the bdc directly and immediately be on the correct holdover. I am still saving money for mine!
This video has been 3 years and it is still very relevant. I would say that is an excellent video up to date. Thank you very much for the information. Happy New Year guys.
What a great video, you could explain those reticles to me for a two day seminar and I'd still have questions. Seeing them with real world examples explains it all. Thanks.
Must say, after a few months of heavy use, this really has been an absolutely fantastic optic for the money. Still using it on my 12" .308 ACE, but have also picked up the 1-8x Plat in the Griffin Mil for my PWS MK216, and have been equally impressed by that. I think they represent about the same value, in their respective tiers, while the platinum is obviously a vastly superior optic. Really impressed with the PA stuff lately. Get you some! Thanks again for the upload
I have the 1-8x and I hit steel targets with boring ease out to 450yds no problem. At over 600yds it can get tricky but still very doable.. I love my scope for what I need it for..
Nice review! Like the assistant being viewed through scope at range. Very nice touch. I’m all in for the ACSS reticle. Currently have seven optics with it. And waiting for a possible 8th in the 3-18X flavor.
nc_classics _ - it is like a game! its so easy to make hits at rediculous ranges. i was sold the first time i stretched the legs of my PA 1-8x ACSS SFP on-board of my go-to modded FN 16" M4/RECCE carbine. i was firing at a 5-gal bucket at an unknown range that i felt was close to 700 to 800 yds. it looked loooong! and because the bucket was on the far side of a deep gorge in the mountains it made it very difficult to estimate the range. i turned my rifle on its side so i could use the 18" ranging features of the ACSS reticle on the vertical bucket and got a reading of just 550 yds. i thought no way, its farther than that! but i chose to trust the ACSS reticle. using a 2" sappling as support, i clamped my hand around the tree and the barrel of my FN, carefully lined up the shot between the 500 and 600 yd stadia dead center as there was no wind. i squeezed the trigger, the FN barked and about 1 second later the bucket jumped 6" into the air, landed on its side and rolled 6' down to the bottom of the small hill i placed it on. man! i nailed it! before i celebrated too much i lined back up.and sent 4 more rounds down range without any visual cue that i hit my target. so i loaded up and drove the 1.1 miles back down the winding mountain forrestry road and bellied up to my kill to find 10 holes through and through! the first round hit dead center about 5" from the bottom and exited right in the bottom corner sending the bucket skyward. the next 4 rds were all grouped in a nice oval pattern about 7" to 8" high by about 4" to 5" wide. impressive! and awesome too considering ive fired at targets at unknown distances before and expended a hundred rounds and never hit my target and never saw where my rounds went because of the heavy grass and leaf litter gave no telltale signs of impact. 5 rds fired, 5 direct hits. at 550 yds and thanks souly to the PA 1-8x ACSS SFP scope and reticle system. ive been a diehard PA ACSS fan ever since and now own 3 of them. in fact every one of my go-to fighting rifles wear PA ACSS optics in ADM recon qd mounts! my amazing 3/8 MOA FN M4/RECCE carbine is home base for my PA 1-8x ACSS SFP scope. my equally amazing if not more so also 3/8 MOA FN 18" match grade sporter SPR wears my PA 4-14x ACSS R-grid(discontinued) scope. and my new sub-MOA DD5V1 7.62 battlerifle carries my AWESOME new PA platinum 1-8x ACSS FFP scope. and i plan to buy the new PA 3-18x ACSS R-grid 2 scope in another ADM recon qd mount when it is released to handle long range shooting duties on my DD5V1, FN SPR or any of my long range bolt action rifles or my AR-10 6.5 creedmoore i plan to build soon. i love PA optics! just owning them is like a game. buy a kick ass optic and then play "mount the scope on a rifle" thanks to the ADM recon qd mounts. and if you cant find an empty rail, you have to go buy another rifle! its great!
I like the 1x6 24 ACSS reticle so much I bought one , when I was leveling it on my rifle I found the reticle to be about 3° out of plum with the housing, the problem is if you plum the reticle your adjustments are slightly skewed off vertical or horizontal. I guess I'll just try to tune it out as normal , maybe I'm being overly critical, I just didn't expect that. But I do still like it alot as a range finder reticle.
By far the best comparison of these 2 scopes I’ve seen. Thanks For sure getting the 1-8x24. Nice scope. I have a vortex strike eagle on my rifle and absolutely hate it...will be replacing it with the 1-8. Thanks again
Semi Auto - what do you hate about the Vortex strike eagle? The Primary Arms 1-6x and 1-8x scopes, Vortex strike eagle 1-6x and 1-8x and the Atibal 1-6x and 1-8x scopes are all 3 the exact same scope with minor styling differences and of course, different reticles. So, if your expecting markedly better glass, turrets or illumination, youll probably be let down. The PA ACSS reticle is hands down the best in the industry and if thats what your after youll be very happy with it.
great review guys! i love PA optics and the amazing ACSS reticle system! i have the PA 1-8x ACSS sfp model and the platinum 1-8x model as well as the PA 4-14x ACSS R-grid model. i have the 1-8x sfp mounted on my go-to fighting rifle, the awesome FN M4 16" that ive modded into a RECCE/DMR style carbine. its lightening quick and absolutely deadly from 0 to 550+ yds. it drives tacks from 0 to 300 yds and routinely delivers perfect .000" 3-rd and sub 1/8" 5-rd groups at 25 yds with Norma tac .223 55 gr fmj. at 100 yds sub 13/16" 5-rd groups are the norm but sub 3/8" groups are possible when i do my part. the platinum 1-8x will be going on my .308 battlerifle when ive completed the build. the 4-14x is mounted on my 1/4 MOA capable FN 18" match grade sporter. at 100 yds it always delivers sub 3/4" 5-rd groups but it routinely piles 4-rds into a single oval hole with the 5th round opening the group to about 3/8". when i work out that 5th rd flyer problem, 1/4" groups will be the norm with Sig Sauer 77 gr OTM match loads. all 3 optics are mounted in ADM recon qd mounts so i can quickly mount up any optic on any rifle depending on what im doing at the time. i LOVE all 3 PA scopes and im looking forward to adding the new 3-18x ACSS R-grid 2 scope to my stable. you cant go wrong with PA. they offer excellent optics at a tremendous value, have excellent customer service and the amazing ACSS reticle system is hands down the best in the industry. cant ask for anything more!
Thanks for a review that does what other, although great in their own right, reviews don't do. Real world comparisons are lacking, and by real world, most real world average civilians actually use rifles for. If my rifle was a battle rifle only, it would have an ACOG on it without question. But I think like me, most rifles are used for multiple purposes, for the ones that are used for more than weight balancing a safe. The 1-6x and 1-8x have a few distinct and important differences to me. For me, this review made it clear that the $100 premium for the 1-8x is more than worth it for a few reasons. 1) the horseshoe and chevron being the only thing that illuminates makes it even more functional for fast acquisition when using it for close range in place of a red dot. 2) the reticle is slightly larger! For me that makes a big difference seeing it side by side so to speak. The slight increase in magnification for the 1-8x is good, but I could live without it and it doesn't justify the cost for me. 1-6x for the money is hard to beat. Clarity all the way from 1-6 is also a benefit especially for older eyes. However, I didn't notice any difference in the camera, from 6-8x. The reports are that it's less clear or distorted on the edge at 8x, but at a range I'd be using 6x and higher that wouldn't be an issue. The fix for that is buy a scope at 3x the cost. This helped me decide to save $1000 over the ACOG I was going to buy while questioning whether it would be the best all around optic for me. I think this will be a great scope for someone like me that will be using a rifle as everything from defense to hunting, where the 5.56 works. Thanks again. I'm going to click "buy" at PA website now. My cart has been collecting dust for a few days. :)
I understand there is a niche to fill so companies need to fill it, but passed 1x6 the real % of people that can use this is pretty small. I have a 1x4 and a 1x6 with a 20 and 24mm objective lens. I also have the old Nikon 3x32. I like that big objective opening. Some times even the lower magnification lets in more usable information. Just saying I would prefer a 1x6-30 over a 1x8-24. No doubt the 1x8 will be a big seller as will the 1x12 after that.
Can we see some red dot shooting at 200+ yards from you guys 😁. I bought the Holosun ACSS red dot I might pair it with the PA 6x red dot magnifier if I find enough video reviews.
I'm in Spokane and would love to come and shoot with you brothers one day. Keep up the videos. Great job. P.S. I own the 1×8 on my 300blkout & .556. And a DI Optical red dot on my Sig Rattler 300blkout.
That last AR was definitely overgassed. I'd make the buffer heavier to tune it properly. Now for something completely different. The ACSS sight was designed for one main purpose...effectively putting rounds on human targets (stationary, walking or running). When the nut jobs that banned bump stocks find out about this, well, they're going to go ballistic. Dimitri and Primary Arms better have good lawyers once the liberal sissies focus their vision on this most excellent sighting system. ACSS stands for Advanced Combined Sighting System. I believe it was originally called the Advanced Combat Sighting System, but changed to sound less threatening. It's already started...other scope manufacturers are incorporating the ACSS reticle with minor changes into their products. You can't keep a good idea down. Bravo Dimitri !
There is always the 1-8 Platinum version that has the tacticool turrets if you really feel the need to dial. But these scopes aren't meant to be dialed. They are meant to use the reticle. It is after all a bullet drop compensating retical after all and a very accurate one at that from all the reviews I've seen. But you're going to pay a hefty premium for the tacticool turrets over the gold series of scopes like the ones reviewed here. But those also have a 34mm main tube and are FFP. So while it has a lot of improvements over the gold series it's also a lot more.
Most of my deer are taken during the first and last 15 minutes. How well do these see, especially looking into a tree line and is there any glare inside the scope from the illuminated reticle? I currently have a Barska 3-9x42 that sucks in low light.
So the scopes that are for 308 will work with the other calibers you mentioned? Just askiking cause I have a PA 4x16x44 for 308 and I’m thinking of getting a 6.5 Grendel
Andrew M - buy the PA 1-8x ACSS SFP scope and be done with it. yes the NF has superior glass and other advantages but its also 5-8 times the cost! besides, the PA glass is excellent. you will not be dissapointed. ive owned mine for 3 yrs now with zero problems out of any of my 3 PA scopes.
MrWATM yep, they’re both second focal plane. I guess the question is... why would you want to range a distant target at anything else than maximum magnification?
Fire Mountain Outdoors I suppose just for speed and ease-of-use. If you would have to range a moderately distant moving target, it might be better to not have to fumble with your adjustments. To me, that sort of defeats the purpose of a BDC.
Sorry to reply to my own post but to clarify, the FP wouldn't make any real world difference to me since I'm only a hobbyist. I don't want to sound like a keyboard commando. :-) Nice to see guys making videos from the PNW. I also encourage all my friends to buy Aero Precision. They make among the best products anywhere and I don't mind sending my money to Tacoma.
hi sir , thanks for this review . I'm living in Europe and we use a metric system here, primary arms advise us to make a zero at 50yards to exploit the BDC acss raptor reticul, ...but 50y =45,72m ... if i zero the scope at 50 y and if i shoot at 100m till 300m , i'll out of the Target ... do you thing that i must zero at 45m ?
Maybe I missed it... but the 1-6 vs 1-8 do you think the 1-8 has a bigger reticle? Mainly the Chevron? The 1-6 Chevron was to small for me so I sent it back... if the 1-8 had a bigger one that's what I would go with..
Matt Lord - the 1-8x w partial illumination is better. you dont need the BDC at night. you wont be making long shots in low light. are you in Blueridge?
How close does the 1-6x focus when shooting close at very short range? And, how well does the 1x with both eyes open work? (Is it really 1x?).. Thanks!
Richard Lee - the PA1-8x ACSS SFP focuses perfectly down to 5' or so on 1x or about 12' on 3x to 4x. youll need about 15 yds for 4x to 6x and 25 yds for perfect focus on 8x in good light. In bad light such as my local indoor range, it cant quite focus perfectly on 8x at 25 yds. i have to crank it down to 4x or 6x. Outdoors or in perfect lighting however, it focuses fine at 25 yds on 8x although max clarity wont be realized until 35 yds. Its a fantastic scope btw. Ive had mine for 3 yrs now with zero issues. I also have the PA platinum 1-8x ACSS FFP model. its incredible but i prefer the less expensive and lighter SFP model.
I still don't know which one to buy. If I can buy just one. It's seems like the 1x8 because I just got a 308 and I want to reach out but I heard they are both capable of 800 yards.
being humble, here.. but, 400 is REALLY far, for me... 5.56 and all that, i mean i appreciate the idea. would i be wasting money? would be first scope over $100. thoughts, anyone?
Keep practicing and 400 won't seem so intimidating as your skills progress. 5.56 is plenty accurate way past 400 with quality ammo. Wind calls are a bit more critical that with larger calibers, but heavy match ammo helps. I'd say go ahead and grab one of these. They're leaps and bounds better than any $100 optic, and the ACSS reticle will greatly simplify your hold overs as you learn to shoot at greater distance. It works well with XM193 and M855 ball ammo. I'm impressed enough with mine that it's taken the place of a Leupold VXR Patrol on my Recce carbine. It's not a Swarovski or anything, but it's damn good for a sub-$500 1-8 optic.
bad guy at 500 yards unlikely to be imminent threat and if for the protection of others clarity on the intel prob not good enough for critical decision making.
I just ordered the 1-8x. Wish i watched this video earlier. I liked how the 1-6x has the line also glows.

Finally a review of the 1-8 where someone shows the actual field of view. Thank you!
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching.

best visual explanation of how the reticle actually works. thanks guys, i'm sold

It goes all the way to 11!
Spinal Tap needs to reunite for a tour!
I use the 1-6 for hog hunting. It is absolutely perfect for quick acquisition on a running target.
Great video guys! Love your green areas! -Dimitri
Thanks Dimitri!
That ACSS reticle is great, I used to run one in 3-Gun on an AK-74
Primary Arms, LLC PA makes awesome products. I cant wait to get my hands one of these scopes. Dimitri send me the PA 6x red dot magnifier for review 😁
Dimitri will any other companies adopt the ACSS reticle in the future besides Trijicon?
The BEST VIDEO Out On These 2 Scopes, GREAT JOB Guys... 👍👍
Thanks for watching
Best ranging vid I've seen yet on the ACSS. Thank you for doing this!
great video. thanks for the training on my new x6
We are glad you found it useful!
What a great video, you could explain those reticles to me for a two day seminar and I'd still have questions. Seeing them with real world examples explains it all. Thanks.

I liked the way you guys presented these scopes.

This is a fantastic review!
I’ve played around with a PA 1-8 on a 18 inch DMR, And it’s unreall it’s like playing a video game. For the money it’s a tough capable optic
nc_classics _ - it is like a game! its so easy to make hits at rediculous ranges.

in fact every one of my go-to fighting rifles wear PA ACSS optics in ADM recon qd mounts!
my amazing 3/8 MOA FN M4/RECCE carbine is home base for my PA 1-8x ACSS SFP scope.
my equally amazing if not more so also 3/8 MOA FN 18" match grade sporter SPR wears my PA 4-14x ACSS R-grid(discontinued) scope.

and i plan to buy the new PA 3-18x ACSS R-grid 2 scope in another ADM recon qd mount when it is released to handle long range shooting duties on my DD5V1, FN SPR or any of my long range bolt action rifles or my AR-10 6.5 creedmoore i plan to build soon.

Nice work on the review gentlemen.
I wish they made this with an illuminated FFP so the horseshoe and Chevron where illuminated to be utelized as a red dot sort of... When in CQB
Illuminated ranging ladders 👍
This is an excellent video, thanks man.
Great review. The best one and I watched them all.
Matt Lord - you did get the 1-6x raptor FFP?
If so, how do you like it and are you from blueridge?
great review guys!
i love PA optics and the amazing ACSS reticle system!
i have the PA 1-8x ACSS sfp model and the platinum 1-8x model as well as the PA 4-14x ACSS R-grid model.
i have the 1-8x sfp mounted on my go-to fighting rifle, the awesome FN M4 16" that ive modded into a RECCE/DMR style carbine.
its lightening quick and absolutely deadly from 0 to 550+ yds.
it drives tacks from 0 to 300 yds and routinely delivers perfect .000" 3-rd and sub 1/8" 5-rd groups at 25 yds with Norma tac .223 55 gr fmj.
at 100 yds sub 13/16" 5-rd groups are the norm but sub 3/8" groups are possible when i do my part.
the platinum 1-8x will be going on my .308 battlerifle when ive completed the build.
the 4-14x is mounted on my 1/4 MOA capable FN 18" match grade sporter.
at 100 yds it always delivers sub 3/4" 5-rd groups but it routinely piles 4-rds into a single oval hole with the 5th round opening the group to about 3/8".
when i work out that 5th rd flyer problem, 1/4" groups will be the norm with Sig Sauer 77 gr OTM match loads.
all 3 optics are mounted in ADM recon qd mounts so i can quickly mount up any optic on any rifle depending on what im doing at the time.
i LOVE all 3 PA scopes and im looking forward to adding the new 3-18x ACSS R-grid 2 scope to my stable.
you cant go wrong with PA. they offer excellent optics at a tremendous value, have excellent customer service and the amazing ACSS reticle system is hands down the best in the industry.
cant ask for anything more!
We concur!
Great review and I'm digging the 1x6.
This was a GREAT video.
I’m sold. I need one.
Just bought the 1x6 raptor I will get it in November I hope.
I'm sure the Raptor will be a homerun for those who prefer FFP over SFP.
Good video guys and love the Crown Vic w/ the Jeep wheels and feel.
I've bought two of these in the last week.. hopping on the primary arms fan boy train
Cool scopes
I understand there is a niche to fill so companies need to fill it, but passed 1x6 the real % of people that can use this is pretty small. I have a 1x4 and a 1x6 with a 20 and 24mm objective lens. I also have the old Nikon 3x32. I like that big objective opening. Some times even the lower magnification lets in more usable information. Just saying I would prefer a 1x6-30 over a 1x8-24. No doubt the 1x8 will be a big seller as will the 1x12 after that.
Great video.
Can we see some red dot shooting at 200+ yards from you guys 😁. I bought the Holosun ACSS red dot I might pair it with the PA 6x red dot magnifier if I find enough video reviews.
Wonder why 1-8 has only top part of reticle illuminated
good review nice detail
Good and informative. Thank you
Hi, nice vid - but I didnt hear anything a bout an eyebox comparison, which is what has me worried up all night.
I'm in Spokane and would love to come and shoot with you brothers one day. Keep up the videos. Great job. P.S. I own the 1×8 on my 300blkout & .556. And a DI Optical red dot on my Sig Rattler 300blkout.
Which DI do you have? I'm looking at the DCL30 myself. Have you had any problems with the DI, and if so, how was the customer service?
FFP or SFP ???
PRICE'S ???
I love Primary Arms..But having to remove caps to dial up or down is a deal killer for me.
SOLD!!!
So the scopes that are for 308 will work with the other calibers you mentioned? Just askiking cause I have a PA 4x16x44 for 308 and I’m thinking of getting a 6.5 Grendel
Just got a PA Classic series 6x24 open box for $129
Great video and thanks! One question...what are the mounts you have for those scopes? Thanks and keep them coming.
Could you imagine ranging Andre the Giant?
Boy you got to drop that weight man
I want a good 1-8 FFP horseshoe reticle....AND.... the Nightforce is the price of a good used vehicle.
Are you sure they're 2FP? It would seem that you'd need FFP for the BDC to work at all magnifications.
I enjoy your videos and keep up the good work!
MrWATM yep, they’re both second focal plane.
I guess the question is... why would you want to range a distant target at anything else than maximum magnification?
Fire Mountain Outdoors
I suppose just for speed and ease-of-use.
Nice to see guys making videos from the PNW. I also encourage all my friends to buy Aero Precision. They make among the best products anywhere and I don't mind sending my money to Tacoma.
MrWATM - buy a mag adjust lever. going from 1x to 8x is instant and completely nullifies the need for FFP.
I remember the reverse basict
nice scopes!!
hi sir ,
thanks for this review .
Man can't decide between the 1-6 and the 3x prism for my 18in barrel AR.
Steve EAB 1-8x for your DMR set up.
What is better in your opinion the 1x6 illuminated fully or the 1x8? I am about to purchase one or the other
Matt Lord - the 1-8x w partial illumination is better. you dont need the BDC at night. you wont be making long shots in low light.
are you in Blueridge?
What do you guys prefer to shoot out past 100yds FFP or SFP?
What is the 1x6 model number because there is the raptor and it's hard to tell them apart.
*FIRE MOUNTAIN OUTDOORS* - Make a video getting the word out about I-1639, you handsome fuckers! ♥️😊
Poor Eli
"Hold out that pack of cigarettes" -J
Damn, you took it back to an awesome movie
I cannot find the one for the 308 rifle is it the same one for the 300/762x39 or could you send me the link for the one for the 308 rifle
It is the same one as the 556.
I still don't know which one to buy. If I can buy just one. It's seems like the 1x8 because I just got a 308 and I want to reach out but I heard they are both capable of 800 yards.
Matt Lord - buy the 1-8x. are you in blueridge?i think i know you.
6063 Tube? Not 6061? That’s odd...
being humble, here.. but, 400 is REALLY far, for me...
@@triggerhappy19832007 Thank you!
bad guy at 500 yards unlikely to be imminent threat and if for the protection of others clarity on the intel prob not good enough for critical decision making.
