The Nemec sweepstakes have BEGUN! What are YOUR thoughts on this Devils D? Would YOU want him on YOUR favorite team? And share your Mock Trades below! #GravGang
Exactly my first thought, when you check SJ prospect pool right shot moving puck 1pp defensmen is exactly what they need for future. I am not súre if they have something to offer to devils
@ I think a lot of it hinges on how legit the rumors are of him wanting a trade. If it becomes public knowledge that he absolutely wants out that will severely impact the leverage NJ has. NJ is also in win mode now so they’re gonna want lineup players. I could see something like Grandlund with 50% retained via another team who could instantly slot in as a impact third line center, someone like Kovalenko or Borderlau and a 2027 1st that they could possibly use as trade capital at the deadline since even in 2027 it’s probably going to be a high end pick. Maybe take back a bad contract or two. I dunno if something like that would get it done.
This comment was taken out of context. He was specifically asked about how his scenario compares to Jiricek's and then he gave his response that went much more in depth than what's being quoted. "It's hard to say; it's still too fresh. If this situation continues, it will be dealt with, but for now, this is how it is. "I've proven I belong in the NHL, but I try not to dwell on it. I take things as they come. I believe that when the opportunity arises, I'll seize it." "It's a business, but on the other hand, I can't recall a second-overall pick spending their third year in the minors. Devils are doing well, so I have to wait, even though it's not the most ideal situation."
I feel like San jose could be a good fit for a trade, potentially moving on from mikael grandlund while his value is high, they could use a high potential defender to run their offense in the future, although I’m slightly skeptical that they want to move of from him since he’s been so good and is still decently young
I’d be tough to pass on him but the way they built their defense it’s hard to keep him and play him. They pretty much have to choose to play him or L Hughes
@ yeah I know but what I’m trying to say is they’re in a tough spot keeping him even if he didn’t want out. Like why hold onto him when he prob won’t get a real shot for the next few years and his value is so high yk
I don't think Nemec wants out of New Jersey yet I don't see what would've changed he was clearly not going to make that dcore with the emergence of Kovacevic in preseason and the start of the season. The team would have told him that he would be in the AHL most of the season (which he is) and I don't see why all of a sudden that would change anything with his mindset or approach to the season. If he doesn't make the team next year then I'm sure he will want out but until then I just don't see why all of a sudden he would want out rn doesn't make any sense
as a devils fan i agree with you 100%,, I think this whole thing is getting blown way out of proportion, I think Nemec will be a big part of our d core in the future. If anything right now we're going to be looking trade for bottom six scoring without giving up our high upside defensevie talent like nemec, casey, and silayev.
@tuckh5110 ya exactly the value is so far off in a lot of mocks I'm seeing they aren't trading away a 2nd overall pick that's developed fine since this draft for a rental or a couple middle 6 forwards it just doesn't make sense you could get those guys for a 2nd or 3rd rounder a lot of the time not paying a future potential top pair RHD which GMs are always looking for
San Jose looks rather good across the board for the future, on paper. They have future center depth, a lot of young wingers developing, Askarov is the goalie of the future and if they get Matthew Schaefer in the draft then, with him and Sam Dickinson, they have two solid left handed defense prospects. Just that right side looking a bit thin, so someone like Nemec would look really good on there. Of course what do you give up for it and would the Devils even agree is a whole other matter, but as much as I like Granlund I think him an a few picks and some sweeteners from would be a fine enough trade, but probably not enough for Jersey.
Granlund a 1st from a future year a second this year plus a prospect for Nemec and Haula/Palat since we would need cap back for Granlund Might seem like a little much to give up for what the Sharks get back but we would have to be the ones slightly "losing" to get this done imo
@Mihtzir That's too much for an unproven player that has yet to live up to his potential. Sure he was drafted second overall but there's still no guarantee he pans out, clearly he hasn't been good enough to make the Devils Plus, Granlund is really valuable at all ends of the ice
100% agree with this, I think San Jose is a great spot for him and we need right d. A trade centered around Granlung and maybe Bordeleau or another young guy could do it with enough sweeteners
@@Mihtziryou’re living in a fantasy world if you think the Devils even entertain that… Granlund ? Really ? 🤣 You want an A tier prospect ? That would mean an A tier prospect would have to go the other way with a Top 6 forward. That’s what you pay for a 2nd overall pick. A deal like that would have to include Kunin …Sam Dickinson or Shakir … This isn’t the NHL video game
@@Mihtzir Yeah, makes sense. I think a 1st would be really tough as the Sharks, while looking really promising for the future, aren't looking promising enough yet to not think a first next year or the year after would be even worth considering giving up. That said, need that right shot guy........ If that 1st could be negotiated down to maybe two seconds or another veteran roster player that would be an easy deal, but yes probably would have to be something like this.
Nemec is not being traded. Devils are going to bring him up this year and have Kovacevic as 7th defenseman. Devils need more offense and Nemec can add that.
If Fitzgerald were smart he'd trade Kovacevic this deadline while he is at the highest value for the team for a high pick. Possibly even the 1st rounder. Kovacevic has been great but he is not a game breaker. And use that 1st pick from Kovacevic trade to bringa real game breaker for the Cup run. This move would open a spot for Nemec. But Fitzgerald is as dumb as you can get and he'll let Kovacevic walk for free next summer and keep upsetting your 2nd overall pick and possibly a franchise defender even further by keeping him in the AHL while Luke who is much worse keeps playing for the Devils because his surname is Hughes.
I think you’ve really misevaluated nemecs play and are describing his play as a lot of how it was before the draft and not how he’s developed. He’s actually a really good skater and was one of the devils best defenseman last season which is why he states he earned a spot. Unfortunately he injured himself this offseason in Czechia and took alittle while to regain his play and in the mean time the devils right side was way too good to shakeup.
Title is a bit click-bait ish. Simon has not officially asked for a trade request yet. He just expressed displeasure to the team about being in the AHL for a 3rd year. Send Hamilton out, his defense is pretty sub par and we have offensive guys in our system to fill the gap. Get a good return while you can. Also Nemec wouldn't be traded for a rental, he's the #2 pick that would be such a waste unless an extension is done ahead of time. The NHL is a simple business the players ONLY care about putting up numbers because that means more money. This hampers the defensive effort becuase offense pays far more than defense .Natter of fact players that play defensively are often tossed aside and struggle just to keep their job. Even the goalies get paid a lot more in spite of THEIR numbers being attributed to the defensive players so players making goalies look god do not get rewarded but the goalies do lol. To NJD: Cozens - Hughes-Hischier-Cozens center trio🫣. Or Cozens plays on the RW with either Hughes or Hischier.
no, simply because over 7M as a 3C in Cozens is no bueno
Buffalo is not trading their only good center guys….Can you even try with these trades ?!
If your trading nemec its gotta be a young fwd whos going to be under a team friendly contract... you cant trade him for rentals or guys with a few years left. Thats not smart at all.
Haula’s not gonna waive his NTC to go anywhere
Of course he’s not happy. Kovacevic has been a slam dunk acquisition and will be resigned. So he doesn’t want to play in the ahl for the next 2-3 years
San Jose Sharks... Granlund would be nice for the devils
Haula has a full no trade clause.
Oh, you got to that.
David jirisek didn't get a crazy return don't understand why nemec should
What about Anaheim? Young dcore and lacking right handed skill on defense.
devils are interested in jt miller
If Devils trade Nemec they are calling Ottawa and you know who they are asking for!!
Ottawa is not giving him to you lol. The best you’d be getting back is Shane Pinto and that’s an IF
another sharks deadline deal, Grandlund/Ferraro for Nemec??
Just give Kovacevic back to the Jets. Problem solved
Yeah hes gonna have to be traded and have a mental reset, they have a good top 6
Such bs thumbnailing, man
We gotta move Dougie
Nemec to OILERS
TRADE HIM TO WINNIPEG!
Nemec to vegas
Def have seen the mtl proposals making the rounds on X for nemec that include andersom 😂. They pop up every year it seems, its always someone for anderson
Come to mtl
To the Sabres for Jason Zucker and Peyton Krebs.
That’s actually not bad
Scott Laughton 50% retain and Oil 1st rounder for Simon Nemec
Devils really need a 3rd line center for their cup run and we’ll have Laughton has 2 years..
Flyers get their number 1 D.
J.T Miller
For
Nemec + 2nd round pick
Hello…cap Space ?
@ do a Mark Stone
This coming offseason, the Devils will trade Simon Nemec along with Jakob Markstrom, Dawson Mercer, Isaac Poulter, and a 2026 4th-rounder to the Maple Leafs for Anthony Stolarz, Easton Cowan, and the Panthers’ 2025 2nd-rounder.
Jersey want JT Miller? Give us Nemec and another forward (Mercer?) and he's yours (taking Siegenthaler if needed for cap)
And well throw in jack hugh as well, just to make the deal even.
lmao. it is Vancouver that needs to add to this deal, not the Devils. Soething like 50% retention to get Nemec
Nemec for Miller
He’ll no
The only trade I would do is for Quinn Hughes and id give up almost anybody om this team accept Luke and jack hughes ... Bratt or Mercer ... Markstrom... And. Big #7
As a Canucks fan I wouldn’t give up Quinn for Jack and Luke combined. lol
@@LeonExile05 If the stuff happening in Vancouver atm doesn't get sorted soon you might not have a choice. He's only got 2 years left on that contract and an opportunity to play with his brothers would have to be extremely appealing with the current situation in Vancouver.
@@icehockeyaussies7578 Perhaps. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
