UPDATE: These generators have been updated with a carbon monoxide detector and outlet covers. Otherwise, it's the same unit seen here. Links in description.
Honda eu2800 is a great generator. Just used it after hurricane Ian. Ran it for 6 days 22 hours each day. Had my refrigerator, freezer, some lamps, fans, radio and cell phone charging. Used less than 5 gallons of gas daily. It worked masterful and quiet. Honda is the best!
Well done review. I like how you put a load on your tools. Most people would not catch the fact that a free running tool would pull less amps than a tool under load. Well done and not hiding anything.
Thanks Ed. I just checked my affiliate links and they are outdated. I've added new Home Depot links to the updated version of these 2800s. Looks like they added a carbon monoxide alarm so that's nice. See ya.
Bought one three or four months ago love it works great Decided to purchase another one by mistake I ordered industrial version you would think it would be as good if not better one week later started burning oil like crazy it's in the shop right now we'll see what they do
Excellent review. The vacuum and saw made so much noise that it was less perfect for hearing the difference, but still workable. I've had the EU2200 for over 10 years and use a double burner electric hot plate to demo the power increase. But I'm not a construction worker so there's that. In any case, thanks for the rundown on the 2800. Nicely done.
Yeah, but you need to research the whole bonded vs floating neutral through a surge protector to RV thing. To be honest, I'd look for a quieter unit. Maybe grab a couple of the 2200 units and run them in parallel whenever you need more power than one.
Still only 4-500ish. Haven't used it for almost two years now. Will update the article at toolrev.com with a short video next time I fire it up. Was going to do it today but no time. Look for it next weekend. Thanks.
do you ever use the 30 amp plug for anything? I feel like its a waste unless your using it for a home connection kit. Are there any other benefits for this plug? Thanks for the review.
You would have to ask Honda about safety. Personally, I would use it to run a pressure washer. For an electric washer under 15amps you can probably use the quieter 2200. If it's just for the washer the money might be better spent on a gas or battery powered washer. Lets us know what you get and how you like it.
Yeah, according to the manual. A service shop can quote you cost over the phone probably. Looks pretty simple from a couple DIY RUclips videos I just watched after reading your question. I have around 500 hrs on mine and haven't done it yet.
2 tips for you, regarding all small engines.....do an oil change when you first buy it, after letting it idle for 15-20 minutes. You would't beleive the metal filings that show up in the oil, when new. Also, use the drain interval stated on the bottle of oil, not the machine's manual. i.e. Amsoil Small Engine has a life a 100 hrs.
Funny thing about vacuums: When you restrict the air and create a stronger vacuum, it reduces the load on the impeller. It's one of those Counter-intuitive concepts.
I went with gray one, gas gauges never work right half the time anyway. Don’t need a gas gauge, it will shut off if it needs fuel ⛽️ I definitely need to get the wheel package for sure.
True, the fuel gauge on this one isn't perfect either. But if you run all day long it's very useful, for me, to have a fuel gauge. Especially near lunch and at the end of the day.
Interesting. Another person made the same comment. I’ll break out the amp meter and check it out. You still get the point of the test though. Two tools.
I only have 400-500 hrs on mine so it's hard to rate at this point other than to say I'm happy with it and don't see anything I'd change it out for. I am aware that Honda's GC series engines have a good reputation. They are used in power washers, industrial fans, and lawn mowers.
The GC190 is a fantastic motor. It's the same unit you see in all of the home power washers and in vertical shaft form Honda's lawn mowers. It'll last far past 500 hours with only oil changes. At $1100 less than $2 hour of run time is a great deal.

Thanks for doing the review...especially the comparison between the silver and black versions.

Agreed on the proper loading. Good touch.
Thank you for a great review! Loved the added footage of "in use" as opposed to simply talking to the camera.
Glad you liked it!
This was one of the most informative, non dumbed down, reviews I have ever seen on anything at You Tube ‼️
Thanks ❗

Your review was information dense, and well presented.

Any idea if it would work for a RV application?

Good review, i've owned one for about a year now for home backup and it works super well. Thanks for the tip on the hour meter blinking light
Do you run compressors off this unit?
I have not. I mostly run cordless guns these days.
Time for an update. How many hours do you have on it now? Any issues? Thank you

I haven't used it for anything yet myself.
Would this be good for use in mobile detailing? Is it safe to use with electric pressure washers?

Is it true the timing belt needs to be replaced every 250 hours on this GC engine? How much does that cost to have done?
Yeah, according to the manual. A service shop can quote you cost over the phone probably. Looks pretty simple from a couple DIY RUclips videos I just watched after reading your question. I have around 500 hrs on mine and haven't done it yet.

Thank you for not rambling on for a hour about nothing.
Thanks for the review. How long have you owned this generator and how many hours do you think you have on it?
More than a year now. It's got 400 to 500 hrs on it. Runs like new.
ToolRev Thanks a lot. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Best generator review, keep it up! Good luck with the channel!
👊
Can you run a welder on it? LE31 mp Lincoln stick, mig, tig
I don't know, maybe someone else has tried it or just go with the specs.
Funny thing about vacuums: When you restrict the air and create a stronger vacuum, it reduces the load on the impeller. It's one of those Counter-intuitive concepts.
Yep!
@@adamdrost4117 it's the vacuum that creates less drag on the impeller - fewer air molecules.

Ya, but I'd rather have the one you got with a fuel gauge.
My fuel gauge on my eu 2800 works great.
That was a great review. Thank you.
Nice no bullshit show.thank you
If you need to backfeed your panel with the EB 2800i all you need to do is remove the neutral bond. It's right there on the right hand side.
Wow , never thought about that . Any idea where it is on a eu 2000 ?
Your presentation is awesome! Ty!
can you tether two EB2800I generators ?
No
@@toolrev Thank you very much
Looks like it's enough power to run a full size fridge, small window a/c unit, maybe ??
I'd say probably yes it would run those two things simultaneously as long as the motors don't start going at the same time.
Good review, except for not wearing safety glasses while using the circular saw.
Great generator just got mine and it works great 👍 thanks
Great review.
Nice, thanks.
Vacuum is the only power tool that pulls less amps under load...check it out!

Thanks for the review man.

Thank you

Thanks for the review
No problem 👍
I'm selling the grey panel one, new $800

Wow thanks god bless
Thanks for the review!! Help a lot! Anyway, from the side you look exactly like Tucker Carlson!
