Our 3200 I has been performing perfectly. One pull starts, and we’ve been using it while Boondocking in below freezing temperatures. Fortunately, the price of it was not a big concern for us. Thanks for your honest honest👍
I had two Eu2200i. Sold both of them when we purchased a whole house natural gas genny. I did buy a EU2200i for the cabin and it will do more than I need. The bluetooth is quirky so I don't use it. I added an hour meter to keep up with run time. Oil changes every 50 hours, non ethanol premium fuel and monthly exercise with varying loads. Great assessment Johnny. Thanks!
Bought our Ai Power 2300 (Yamaha engine) from Costco on sale $400 and another $70 to ship to us in Hawaii. Runs our whole home 120/125v power just fine. Run only ethanol free fuel, change the oil every 100 hours and run it one a month for 2-3 minutes. Runs like a champ. We went with the lower power because it runs all the critical stuff and running it at the back of the house means you don’t hear it when you drive or walk by. When everyone else is without power, no point in advertising that you still do. Aloha!
Bought my Honda EU 3000, must have been 15 years ago. When they first came out. Added remote start to use when camping. No idea how many hours, but use it for 2 weeks to run the AC every year. It is so old, Asked Honda for the gasoline gage. They had no idea when it was produced by the serial number. Still runs like a champ. Only thing I did was change the spark plug. Change synthectic oil after every use.
Basically it’s a video of hypothetical problems that may occur. There is no better generators then Honda , period. If you want the least amount of problems from your generator and a solid 10 years of trouble free performance, buy Honda. Yes it costs more , but so does everything that’s worth it, that lasts. Otherwise buy HF crap or some other brand for less and don’t complain about reliability and longevity.
Again ask enough Honda owners and they are not exactly pleased with the newest models as they are not as problem free as they used to be. If you use items hard and all day everyday then a gas Honda will probably be the best bet, but if its a once in a while buy a dual fuel unit from wen or champion or similar and it will do what most people need. Read comments in my channel or other channels. Now sure there are plenty of good units out there but is Honda still the best…or does Yamaha actually out last. I have friends with those and read on others and those seem to just run for ever. Super heavy though.
If you have such good service from Honda generators, that's fine and your business, I have 6 non-honda generators with one being over 25 years old, it will crank on the first pull and runs great. They get regular service and run time weekly, but no splash lubricated generator will last like a pressure lubricated system with an oil filter. Twenty thousand hours is not uncommon on some portable diesel generators before they need an overhaul. Johnny is a good guy just putting this information out, it's up to the viewer to make their own decisions, and spend their money the way they want. Make some videos on your Honda's we would love to see them, best regards!
@@t.d.harris1311He’s a “good guy”? I see this occasionally from commenters, as if YT creators are doing it for purely altruistic reasons. More like he runs a monetized YT channel. This is a compilation of things that MIGHT happen and that there MIGHT be other generators that are better. One could say the same for any product sold.
I'm not mechanically inclined but found out through need to work on the Honda I own and it really was not that difficult . I own the 2200i and the companion. One of them worked great and than during one of my maintenance cycles I do every 2 or 3 months I could not get one of them to start, even though I used non-ethanol fuel and ran the carb dry like all Honda do. The carb is easy to access and to clean. I then decided to convert both of them to propane. The kits were expensive but well worth it and also for a person not mechanical like me were easy to install. I've had them both for a few years and would never consider buying a larger heavier one. As an older man the time will come that portability is key and heaving two portable generators that I can carry is key, even though I have to make two trips if I am going to parallel connect them. Good information given for the consumer that is not aware or researching.
I think I will also stick with the 2200 watt models. Wish they were a little more on running watts and factory dual fuel but they do good for what they are.
@@johnnysweekends Many generators in the 2200 W to 2500 watt have a smaller displacement engine than the HONDA 2000. For example champion 2200 and iGen 2200 Westing house have 79CC and 80CC engines respectively. The Honda 2000 has a 94CC engine. The 2200 Honda has a 121CC. That is one of the reason many cheaper models generators are not able to handle bigger loads, due to voltage drop.
Bought my 3200 for the RV a/c, 15k unit with soft start. 2200 would have run near max and 3000 was heavy to be portable. Two 2200’s was also more size than I wanted to haul so bit the bullet and sprung for the 3200. Love the size vs 3000 or 2-2200’s. Bought the extended run cap for auxiliary tank. Fits my situation well but only because of the size factor. Almost went with the 3000 but wanted something the wife could move if she had to pack camp so the 3000 was a no go.

750 hrs now on the eu3200i. 10hrs per day now, 90 daytime temp. in the keys, running 1500 to 2000 watts, two 5k btu windows, and 70amp lifepo4 12v charger
Update, eu3200i acting up, then quitting at 1300 hrs. Now it starts and runs smooth for 10 seconds then quits. running on a 2200 now, $2900. Anchor $3k with chain
lol you should read all the people pissed on the forums. Pumps going out early. Honda not approving warranty and more. Not like the old days. Still good units but not bulletproof proof anymore
I have over 950 hours on my EU32I. It's been awesome! I change the oil and spark plug every 100 hours. Only thing I wish it had, was a bigger gas tank. But I can get over 10 hours on it, on eco mode, running my 9500 btu ac unit. @ 78°. All in all, I love it!
Yea fuel cell is way small especially at 2000 watt load its about 4 hours roughly but it at 1700 watts it will hit roughly 6 hrs. I do fins it funny they rate this as a unit for a 13.5k ac unit. But when at that rpm it seems to be very efficient and quiet there.
Thanks for the video! Love my Honda EU3000i perfect for stationary/off grid use. Too heavy to move around a lot but great on fuel and extremely quiet at anything under 3/4 load!
You’re welcome! And the eu3000is is great for stationary. I did not like moving it lol but with wheel kit and the tri fuel setup if was ready for anything
I bought and still have the following a Firmann 9400 watt open frame from Costco for $600 a Ryobi 2200 for $500 A Genmax 9000 iedc for $2600 A Honda EU7000i and so far only Genmax have issues and horrible after service. For life critical equipment such as Generator I learned reliability and ease of use is the most important criteria to meet.
@johnnysweekends The Genmax 9000 IEDC wont crank start. I called and emailed Genmax but only China replied and forwarded me to their US service adviser who made a self determination it was a carburator issue and told me to have the carb replaced at my cost. After 45 days the replacement carb arrived. All my generators are serviced by professionals per schedule including driving fuel and etc. I initially liked Genmax for the perceived value for the features. But now all these features are just gimmicks to me as if they can't have a reliable generator then at least Honda have better after sales service and parts availability. I do know Honda quality took a dive since some of their genetic are no longer made in Japan but perhaps China as well. Don't get me wrong the Firman and Ryobi including my Allpowers R4000 solar generator are made in China but they have great after sales response and part availability. I was also looking to buy the 10500 genmax but after this experience no more genmax for me.
@mariojalata5259 thanks for the feed back and sorry that happened. I try to explain to these companies how important customer service is. If they continue to neglect and fail they will suffer the fate bluetti is at the moment,
It's all just application dependent. I don't camp with a generator and I'm a mechanic by trade. The carb generators are by far my preference. Serviceability is paramount. I can easily make gaskets and clean a carb in my own shop. The complication of the fuel injection system doesn't make sense for my application. Now, if you're running your generator all the time and traveling with it the 3200 may make a whole bunch of sense. I would personally go with 2xeu3000is before I went with one eu7000 just because I don't want the fuel injection mess. I would at minimum have one extra injector and fuel pump for each generator if I did have an FI system. It's all to taste.
Agree, a carb you can at least get to work if you know what your are doing. Gasket making, easy! And yea the eu7000 FI model is problematic and I would avoid. Im with you. The fuel injection is cool and serves a purpose for those that want a more efficient gen, but simplicity and serviceability is key.
Yes! I buy all kinds of things from weed eaters to dirt bikes or atvs that “don’t run” 9 times out of ten it just needs the carb cleaned. Most are too timid to take a look at
@@JimLBon fuel injection technology is super reliable. I'd have thought a mechanic would know that. Cars are going hundreds of thousands of miles with the same efi system. Why would you think a honda generator would have problems?
Cars are completely different… FI injection in this world is still relatively new. If the pump goes out or injector gets plugged you’re done. That’s it…. Nothing because it’s a single cylinder. Not a 4-6-8 cylinder that can run with a plugged injector and get you home. If yours breaks in the field a carb version is so much easy to fix a pump or clean a carb. Electrical is different. Plus you don’t have to split the otter case and more on eu2200i or even eu3000is In the city, construction, home back up where you can get it repaired sure.
Sounds like the good ole fashioned 2200 Honda would be the way to go if you want to pay for the Honda branding. I purchased a WEN 2000 generator a couple years ago and then I found out how amazing a dual fuel is.... LOL I will try to stick to propane as much as possible moving forward.
I hardly use the Hondas as much especially with the DF SG or other fuel fuel models I have. I just don’t want to deal with … did I add conditioner and drain carb 🤔
I agree with you it’s a high priced toy. I will keep my 2000. EFI is great but if you not mechanic like us they can’t afford to fix them. Awesome video 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦
Have an eu200i with 3,000 plus hours on it. Change oil, check air filter, check valve clearance a couple times, first time had to adjust at 500 hours. Second and later, never had to adjust it. Right now, doing a timing belt change due to the belt is all cracked now. Still ran until now when I got a new belt and changing it out now. Another youtuber tested the new Honda and two generic brands. Both did well in the tests for all but one, oil test. The others had a lot more wear metal then the honda that had very little wear metal in the oil after 100 hours run time.
Just taken delivery of two generators - one is a Honda 3200 like this one, and the other is a PowerKing Petrol Power Generator 4.38kVA 3500W - both have just arrived - the Powerking with fresh oil and fuel just wouldn't start - I have to use EasyStart spray to get it going. The Honda was fuelled and oiled from brand new, and I went to turn the engine over with the pull cord just to circulate the oil so I was being gentle - it fired halfway through the first pull and ran up to speed! The Powerking sounds like a lawnmower like you'd expect, the Honda positivally purrs - Like compairing a Lada to a Lexus - OK so it cost 5 times as much - but I'm glad I bought it - just a shame Honda are not more reasonable on pricing! I did buy an electric start Hyundai some years ago - it was a heap of trouble then failed after four months - my off grid friends Honda EU10i is still going aftter 15 years - Go Honda! :)
I have an EU2200i that has the Bluetooth function. I bought it right after they came out. It’s just over 2 years old now. I barely use when camping, so I may sell it. I actually like my new onboard Onan inverter generator I got free. It’s quieter than my EU2200. I also have a barely used EU6500, which I can use for backup power at home.
Time will tell...i just purchased the 3200 because i needed more than the 2200 could consistently produce, didnt want to run more than 80% of the run load capacity for many hours at a time in the Florida heat, and im on a 30' sailboat that wont fit 2 of the 2200 Hondas. It will be charging my lithium bank during the day while also running my 10k ac that runs off the lifep04 at night while sleeping.
Most fuel efficient on the market ? Where did you get this data? It is factual ? Did you test against other competing units with approximately the same size engines or any other units at all under controlled loads measuring the same amount of fuel and calculating the amount of energy produced from that fuel? Or you just going off of marketing and your experience of using one unit and not comparing anything else. I’m not bashing or discrediting you, I’m asking the same questions people will expect of me if I made that exact statement. Marketing and saying most fuel efficient is easy when it’s the only unit in that class. With nothing else to compare you are going off what “marketing tells you” and that’s a horrible way to buy stuff. Honda is still a great product, but this unit is a fail for the price. $1999 max. That’s all this unit should ever be priced at. Not $2799 or more. No dual fuel, no remote start, small tank, low power output for the size and price. Now I dont need remote start or even electric, but for that price….it should have electric at least. But again most fuel efficient, I think I would be chewed up if I didn’t have any data to back that. Hope ya understand
I love my eu2200i , being using it lately since we lost power here in Texas ,, I know they are a little more expensive than other brands , bt trust me you don’t want to have a broken generator during power outage and a temperature of 100 Fahrenheit outside
It's one of those situations where when you add more tech, there are just more things to go wrong. On a fundamental level it is unavoidable. However I do agree that Honda isn't what it used to be in some situations... I picked up a EU2200I yesterday. And it ran like crap right out of the box. Disappointing when the predator 2000 we've had for 3 years runs like a top... But I do still trust it to be better in the long run once this is resolved. For the dual fuel, I get it. I also don't. Propane isn't as easy to source around me outside of exchanges. So the 15lbs for 23$ is convenient in a pinch for sure but most all my appliances (other than the trailer) are natural gas now... So for me I'd want a tri-fuel like my 7000 generac I converted and had for over 20 years now. And it is one of the few situations where it is another part but isn't adding a real failure point but rather redundancy which is nice. And just messing around with the few I've played with in the 2000 watt range, the Honda does seem to have the best operation by far as far as voltage stability under load and maintaining load. The predator really struggled with window A/C units on startup where the the honda (others of the same model, not this one... yet) just purr along... So I am pretty sold on it being "better" but it is a situation where if it can happen to me, it does. Thanks for the video!
Interesting overview. Still have my Honda EU2200i with dual fuel conversion I bought the tail end of lockdown that I only use about 300 hours per winter. I just use petrol with it now for convenience, but interesting that propane bypasses the carb so that might be an option if it ever fails. There are just so many medium sized generators available now at reasonable prices that anything approaching an expensive repair would not be worth it.
Exactly even some construction guys are like … why have my guys destroy my Honda and then if it’s down go get or buy parts or wait for service when I can buy a new one at half the price today and go… no waiting. Most use a open frame unit anyway as they are cheaper and lighter
Really hard to make an argument for Honda when they are 3x the cost of most generators. Also, the flexibility of propane, and now 240v series operation with Gemmax, there are just better options out there for the vast majority of people.
Dual Fuel is the only way to go. Whether it's daily use or every other year in a storm, Propane will almost always work, it does not spoil in the can like Gas does. It also does not foul the plugs or engine oil like gasoline (Petrol) does. The only reason I would I would ever use gasoline is simply because of availability of the fuel. And Propane has the instant advantage of me not having to try to claim a refund on the Road Taxes from Gasoline.
Honda is pricing themselves out of the market considering all the new reliable generators that have hit the market in the last few years. I have had a Champion 3300 for the last 15 years and it still runs like a champ and never had an issue with it and paid half of what a Honda was costing at the time.
Hello there. I bought the EU220i. Yes, it cost a bit more than some of the other options available, but it "seems" to trump the others in terms of quality, noise, etc. I just wanted to buy something "once" and be done with it, something that would last a good many years. But, as it has been mentioned, perhaps other brands have caught up with Honda in the quality department. I don't know. I do like the Bluetooth feature, and I especially like the switch option that allows the unit to drain/burn the gas in the carburetor for the sake of long-term storage, etc. It seems easy to work on, etc. She's a done deal now, and I hope the unit lasts for many years, at least for my purposes. :)
So glad to hear this. I think it's a great unit too, and I'm thankful to have had the money to buy it. Count your blessings, right? :)@@johnnysweekends
Got two barely used 2200I, one is the companion model during Covid for cheap, purchased the hutch mountain conversion kit Can run them in parallel. I feel your pain, hard to pick the perfect model.
I have two Honda 2000's. Maple Hunters sells propane kits for almost all generators. I have been looking for a tri-fuel inverter generator of around 8000 watts or less, In the past I have gotten by hooking them in parallel, but I wanted to run more circuits so my Reliance transfer switch can run up to 8000 watts. Nowadays I take only one Honda 2000 to charge up the power station or the two Battle Born batteries on my camper.
One thing I have learned is to wait 2 years after a new design is introduced. Honda included. Manufacturers need to work out the bugs. I do agree that overall quality with ALL products has fallen. Inflationary forces mean we all get less for more.
I think Honda realized like other companies that you dont make as much money if the items last forever. Cant have things last 20 years, so chop it in half to 10 years lol
It's about storing them and maintaining them properly. Most people just put them away with gas in the float bowls and no stabilizers. Of course they will plug up.
The 3200 is nice but when you can buy 2 eu2200 Hondas and have more power, kinda doesn't make sense to buy it. Even more so with the China dual fuel suitcase generators. Get 2 of those for a grand use them, wear them out, and buy 2 more and still be cheaper than the eu3200. And I own a eu2200.
Exactly my point….and if they run 3500 hours or so each you’ll get more total hours. And if it’s propane you hardly ever have fuel issues to deal with. Maybe a regulator here or there
@johnnysweekends with the prices of the dual fuel champion, AiPower, Westinghouse, etc on Amazon, cabelas, etc. Makes it really hard to buy a honda eu2200 for that matter.
Never on sale!! Wow they must be taking a hint. Now it’s back to being a little more worth it. Wish it put out more power and was dual fuel. It would be killer!
The bad thing I hate about my honda Eu3000is is the weight with fuel. It weighs in about 145 pounds. I bought for my rv air-conditioner works great for it but again very heavy. The honda eu2200i weighs in at 65 pounds and can run a rv 1500 BTU ac with a soft start installed on the rv
Thanks for the info. Again! My next generator will be a dual fuel. I still have not taken my Harbor Freight 2000 outta the box after buying it 2 or 3 years ago. 😂. I’ll test it soon. My son bought a Champion to power his business in case of grid problems. 🤠👍🇺🇸
lol Jeff you need to test it and see if it even works. Better yet see if you can return it or sell it and grab a dual fuel. Ditch the gas so you don’t have to worry about it going bad and additives. But I have seen new units DOA…..so either ditch it or open it 😂👍🏼👊🏼
A common mistake is leaving the unit in the box. When the storm hits, oil it up, fuel and away we go......only to blow up a few days later....well out of warranty. My suggestion, oil & gas it up, connect a space heater , run 2 tanks of fuel and 2 oil changes. NOW, YOU'RE READY. If you do not change the engine oil at least once during the first 5 hours, you just cut your engine life in half.
I prefer the eu2200 as with solar and batteries I don’t use them much now for what I do. But please, why no propane models. I don’t even use my Hondas as I’ve been mainly just using propane more and more
On a dollar per watt basis the 3200 can’t hold a candle to the 2200. With the 3200, Honda completely misread the market both in the power provided and the price.
Weight makes it portable and great for a pick up truck and mobility. Can't go wrong with 3k watts 30 amp and portable My Hondas are all lifesavers, 7k 3k 2k for off grid reliability
It’s not 30 amps or 3000 watts… 2600 watts and $3000 I can buy a lot of other stuff with that. Plus these are now on market place used all day from $1700-2200…
Would and when I can will purchase Japanese over Chinese everytime, just better made products. Yet sometimes price does factor into it, if the Chinese works it is hard to argue against it. Would still take the Honda.
Hondas make good generators but not worth the stupidly high price compared to other generators. I own a Westinghouse iGen 4500 DF generator. Puts out way more wattage, has electric start, and is dual fuel ready. Most importantly I only paid $790 for it on sale. While it doesn’t have Honda reputation, it’s still a good proven generator. No way no how that Honda is worth 3.5 x the price.
The only reason I'm considering this unit is I need it to work at sea level as well at 8000 feet elevation. Is fuel injection the answer?? I need it portable and don't want it bigger than this unit. Any thoughts? I just checked and the local Honda Power Equipment dealer in Norcal is selling them for $2499.00
Wow nice finally price is dropping. What NorCal dealer? And see if this answers your question 😀👊🏼Honda Eu3200i Does Fuel Injection work at High Altitude? ruclips.net/video/tyxvoqu8YGw/видео.html
My 3200i is running good again, wife said "maybe loosen cap" yeah, okay dear. Not sure if thats why its running smoothish again, or if it was the verbal threat of throwing it overboard. But it did get me to take gas cap apart, 4pc's seem to have no venting, and dumbfounded on what the little black jiggly part is, or does. Muffler bearings were okay, rain sensor seams to be okay too. Is this a pressurized tank?
I went with a champion dual fuel because I could literally buy 2 champions for the price of one Honda in the 2000w range. That difference is a bit much. It wasn't a can I afford it thing its just common sense. A fool and his money are soon departed! Honda is gouging people at their price points.
I have a 2200 and realized it may not be big enough to do my 8000 btu window ac so thinking of upgrading to 3000. Would it be better to have a second 2200 and run them both?
I have been telling people the same thing for the past 5 years Honda still makes a great product but there way behind on advancements and the quality is no where near wat it use to be across there whole line of products and there prices are completely insane
Bought mine brand new has 300 hrs up and it's been in the shop now for 2 months, so i'm not sure whats going on but there must be some serious issue if it's taking so much time.
There so many small cheap ones the eu2000 just doesn't make sense. I have an eu3000is and only problem is it's very picking about where you run it. The way it takes k air you bassically have to run it outside. But man it is quiet. I have a Hyundai I bought cheap off Amazon for 500 and that has 1800 hours on and starts in - 40
If ur not mechanically inclined you buy one and if it breaks down and too expensive to fix you buy a new one. If you are mechanically inclined you will buy the generator used/broken from the other guy and fix it. Just because Honda doesn’t make a part that doesn’t mean you can’t fix it specially electronic parts like on a circuit board most parts are VERY universal. 9 times out of 10 a problem on a circuit board is a cracked solder joint.
What about the EM5000S iAVR? You can get one for $2599. I don’t really care about the size/weight. That’s the one that I’ve been eyeing for awhile, but I do wish I could afford a bigger unit that is dual fuel.
Yessss great unit!! The 4500 is virtually the same as well as the dual fuel… But here’s a secrete you can get the dual fuel 4500 with remote start from Wen.. it’s the same unit 🤫😁👍🏼 see it here amzn.to/3UedhI8
I have 1500 hours on my Predator 3500 on a sailboat I took the sides off to mount it in the engine room but that didn't work out so I've had the poor bugger out in the rain for 2 years open frame with just a heavy tarp over the top when it gets wet... I get two solid 13 amd circuits out of it and the battery electric start gets it going instantly every time. I did recently have to do a valve adjustment that I should have done a year ago!
People sell their Honda generators because they run it on gasoline and gasoline clogs it up. Always get a conversion kit before using it and run it on propane only.
Dude , who you working for Yamaha , champion, harbor freight? Every one knows HONDA PRODUCTS ARE bullet proof! You gotta do a lotta talking to convince people not to buy Honda products!
Of If I was would I be buying all of these products myself..??? Sounds like you need to do more research. Eu7000is EFI unit has tons of problems. Sure there are some good ones but several bad ones. Nothing like a $5500 paper weight Warranty .. what warranty. They are becoming every other company and dying when they can. They realize generators that last 20 years doesn’t make money. I like Honda as much as the next. But so many options now where you can buy 2 or 3 units for the same price and get more hours out of them combined and less down time. Well… seems like maybe better money spent. Honda is still good but not what it used to be. Plus are you going to do the 250hr timing belt inspection? Every 250 hrs roughly? If not a shop will charge $300 for the 2 hrs to inspect it. That gets even more expensive if you wanna keep that warranty. I have owned several Hondas …. All paid for by me… The eu3200 is a great unit. But definitely not for $2799…. That’s crazy $1800 maybe for a 2600 watt unit

The green light on the front will flash at startup telling you the hours. I believe its 100hours per flash.
Back when they made them good still
Basically it’s a video of hypothetical problems that may occur.

I agree with the OP.

Just bought a brand new, sealed in box EU2200i for $899 from an authorized retailer, using a $100 coupon code offered by them. I’m happy with that.
Dude awesome deal on a new unit. Normally they are $800 lightly used but I have been seeing them drop a little like $600-800 range
where did you buy from?
Can you run your whole house
Bought my 3200 for the RV a/c, 15k unit with soft start. 2200 would have run near max and 3000 was heavy to be portable.
Two 2200’s was also more size than I wanted to haul so bit the bullet and sprung for the 3200.
Love the size vs 3000 or 2-2200’s. Bought the extended run cap for auxiliary tank. Fits my situation well but only because of the size factor.
Almost went with the 3000 but wanted something the wife could move if she had to pack camp so the 3000 was a no go.
Eu3000is since 2009, change oil, filters etc, clean exhaust screen, ethanol free gas only….never one issue…installed tri-fuel kit also, no issues

750 hrs now on the eu3200i. 10hrs per day now, 90 daytime temp. in the keys, running 1500 to 2000 watts, two 5k btu windows, and 70amp lifepo4 12v charger
Nice, keep me updated! Hope they do better than a lot for the eu6500/ eu7000 units 👍🏼

@wstadlock lol yea I have seen many around my area for sale. Which drops my resale value
I’ll be lucky to get $1600-1700 for it.
@johnnysweekends waited an hour, fired right up, running smoothish at 1200w. Maybe a oxygen sensor or blinker fluid.
@wstadlock oh nice, check muffler bearing for excessive movement. Could be effecting harmonics 😉😁
If you stay with Honda, you are on the right track. Period.
lol you should read all the people pissed on the forums. Pumps going out early. Honda not approving warranty and more. Not like the old days. Still good units but not bulletproof proof anymore
I got two eu2000i and still running like a champ
@@johnnysweekends have you ever reviewed your own eu3000is like you did to others before?

I bought and still have the following a Firmann 9400 watt open frame from Costco for $600 a Ryobi 2200 for $500 A Genmax 9000 iedc for $2600 A Honda EU7000i and so far only Genmax have issues and horrible after service. For life critical equipment such as Generator I learned reliability and ease of use is the most important criteria to meet.
What’s up with the Genmax ?
If they continue to neglect and fail they will suffer the fate bluetti is at the moment,
In my situation, 2 smalls are better than 1 and then add a bit of solar to the mix. Thanks for the info Johnny 😉

Plus you don’t have to split the otter case and more on eu2200i or even eu3000is
In the city, construction, home back up where you can get it repaired sure.
And....gasoline generators will be illegal to sell in California starting in 2028. We live in a state full of loons.
I run a 2200. Have done for many years without problems. Key thing is frequent oil changes
I ditched my on board for solar and batteries. After selling my rv gen it helped pay for a lot of the other items and now I rarely use a gen.
I still have a Honda 1800 from the early 80s. It runs like a top.
Great info Johnny... I'm sticking with my old Honda EU2000i
The Generac line offers a good balance of value and dependability, in my opinion. Personally, I would lean towards those models.
You answered my questions about the EFI.
Serviceability in a pinch is paramount. I’ll stock an extra carb and gasket kit for the 2200 over the 3200
You don't need an extra carb; just drain the thing after every use. One screw, so easy.
You can finance it, built a good credit with it and you will have the best machine in the market
I have one. Best generator I've ever owned (next to the eu7000is) and worth every penny. Its the most fuel-efficient generator on the market.
@@johnnysweekends I measured it.
I love my eu2200i , being using it lately since we lost power here in Texas ,, I know they are a little more expensive than other brands , bt trust me you don’t want to have a broken generator during power outage and a temperature of 100 Fahrenheit outside
Great video, valuable knowledge and insights. Respect that you're not a guy who's afraid to look at things objectively.
Thank you 👍🏼😀
It's one of those situations where when you add more tech, there are just more things to go wrong.
Was considering the 3200I but like you say with the fuel injection part of this unit, I'm gonna pass. Great Video. Thank you.
Excellent points good video I’ll stick with my Westinghouse dual fuel 4500
Best choice for RV, right now and it has the RV plug. There is no competition for the new 3200i yet.
Really hard to make an argument for Honda when they are 3x the cost of most generators. Also, the flexibility of propane, and now 240v series operation with Gemmax, there are just better options out there for the vast majority of people.
I know ! I think maybe they just don’t care much and stick with basics, but they could have so many more options.
Great video, appreciate your time invested in this video and knowledge. Made my decision making simple.
It really is a nice generator for sure, the price verses power output is just insane…
Thanka for sharing. So what generator would you recommend instead of this?
Generators are specific to an owner and the needs. My needs may not be the same as others
Honda is pricing themselves out of the market considering all the new reliable generators that have hit the market in the last few years. I have had a Champion 3300 for the last 15 years and it still runs like a champ and never had an issue with it and paid half of what a Honda was costing at the time.
I bought a Honda, and, compared to other options that my friends own and run, I think the extra cost gave me a better, quieter unit.
@peterpulpitpounder which unit did you buy ?
@peterpulpitpounder I love the 2200i I think it’s a great unit. But could have been so much more especially if it was a dual fuel
So glad to hear this. I think it's a great unit too, and I'm thankful to have had the money to buy it. Count your blessings, right? :)@@johnnysweekends
Got two barely used 2200I, one is the companion model during Covid for cheap, purchased the hutch mountain conversion kit
Can run them in parallel.
I mainly stay with smaller units now that can do propane and one big one for home if needed
@accordj32 I agree I hardly use my Honda because i use propane more and more. I will be converting one so i have the option on it.
Honda EU2200I's are $999 until March 31st; $899 with the military discount at Home Depot. You don't see Honda offering them on sale very often.
Never on sale!! Wow they must be taking a hint. Now it’s back to being a little more worth it. Wish it put out more power and was dual fuel. It would be killer!
You got a good price on the 3200i, but the guys that got a whole bunch of them off the LA freight trains got a way better deal!
Hello, in the 2000 to 4000 watt generators, which is your highest recommendation? I should also say dual fuel..!
The bad thing I hate about my honda Eu3000is is the weight with fuel. It weighs in about 145 pounds. I bought for my rv air-conditioner works great for it but again very heavy. The honda eu2200i weighs in at 65 pounds and can run a rv 1500 BTU ac with a soft start
installed on the rv
Yea the eu3000is is a beast and i sold mine. Just to big…sure did purr though
I prefer to have two eu2200i generators.
Ya I’m good with me predator 3500 that has been flawless….. and got it on sale for 721.00
Thanks for the info.
But I have seen new units DOA…..so either ditch it or open it 😂👍🏼👊🏼
@@johnnysweekends 🤷♂️😬😂
@SaabAholic 😂👊🏼
@@MIKESOLOMON-p2z Yes, you’re right. Johnny has been riding me about this for awhile now, LOL!

I am selling my 2x2200 and go for 3200. Maintaining 1 is much easier than 2. It’s my opinion. Honda is best for everything.
I agree I would rather maintain one item.
I still don’t get why they don’t make dual fuel models
I think eu2200 is the best in class though, even better than eu3200 all around
I prefer the eu2200 as with solar and batteries I don’t use them much now for what I do. But please, why no propane models. I don’t even use my Hondas as I’ve been mainly just using propane more and more
On a dollar per watt basis the 3200 can’t hold a candle to the 2200. With the 3200, Honda completely misread the market both in the power provided and the price.
@doncooper2298 totally agree!!
Makes sense. Thanks
Weight makes it portable and great for a pick up truck and mobility.
Can't go wrong with 3k watts 30 amp and portable
My Hondas are all lifesavers, 7k 3k 2k for off grid reliability
It’s not 30 amps or 3000 watts…
2600 watts and $3000
I can buy a lot of other stuff with that.
Plus these are now on market place used all day from $1700-2200…
Would and when I can will purchase Japanese over Chinese everytime, just better made products. Yet sometimes price does factor into it, if the Chinese works it is hard to argue against it. Would still take the Honda.
I’d imagine the generators they make for the rental market are still pretty good like a eb5000
Just gone and ordered one :)
😲😲😲
The only reason I'm considering this unit is I need it to work at sea level as well at 8000 feet elevation. Is fuel injection the answer??
I need it portable and don't want it bigger than this unit. Any thoughts?
I just checked and the local Honda Power Equipment dealer in Norcal is selling them for $2499.00

Hey Johnny, what forums can I visit to read up on the Honda generators. Ty....
Face book groups there are a few and also general google search for some. Some you can read and dont have to join.
For the price of one of these Hondas, you can buy 2 or 3 Predator 3500 units. 'nuff said.
Not pressured but there is a vent down by the charcoal canister. Parts list or parts diagram shows it
Really good insights on Honda's products. I didn't know about all this history.
Thanks Todd. 😀👍🏼
I went with a champion dual fuel because I could literally buy 2 champions for the price of one Honda in the 2000w range. That difference is a bit much. It wasn't a can I afford it thing its just common sense. A fool and his money are soon departed! Honda is gouging people at their price points.
Can only ride the name so long
Will the natural gas kit work on the Fuel injection ?
No. Unfortunately not
I have a 2200 and realized it may not be big enough to do my 8000 btu window ac so thinking of upgrading to 3000. Would it be better to have a second 2200 and run them both?
I will gladly take two eu2200s over the eu3200i
If I’m out camping, far from any Honda dealer, I would much rather troubleshoot my EU2200i.
Darn right
it's not always about money.
Thank You
😀👊🏼
Hi you reference information that you read on forums, I'm new to this topic, could you share a few links to these forums? Thanks
Facebook forums. Honda eu2200/eu3200i Also google Honda forums there are a couple to join. Can also read Reddit but some of that is trash
@@dondon9829 I have heard others as well with issues. And it’s new and shop people dont know. Plus if no parts 🤷🏼♂️
There so many small cheap ones the eu2000 just doesn't make sense. I have an eu3000is and only problem is it's very picking about where you run it. The way it takes k air you bassically have to run it outside. But man it is quiet. I have a Hyundai I bought cheap off Amazon for 500 and that has 1800 hours on and starts in - 40
Great video and insightful 👏
Thanks Shane 👍🏼😀
If ur not mechanically inclined you buy one and if it breaks down and too expensive to fix you buy a new one. If you are mechanically inclined you will buy the generator used/broken from the other guy and fix it. Just because Honda doesn’t make a part that doesn’t mean you can’t fix it specially electronic parts like on a circuit board most parts are VERY universal. 9 times out of 10 a problem on a circuit board is a cracked solder joint.
I have one. Wish it had electric start.
What about the EM5000S iAVR? You can get one for $2599. I don’t really care about the size/weight. That’s the one that I’ve been eyeing for awhile, but I do wish I could afford a bigger unit that is dual fuel.
Nothing wrong with that unit just yea i wish they just made dual from factory. 🤷🏼♂️
@@johnnysweekends oh definitely. I’ve seen people install ports for dual fuel?
@Dugie555 Many dual fuel kits out there I did a video on it all well..👍🏼
Anyone have experience with the Champion 4650 watt gen?
Yessss great unit!!
The 4500 is virtually the same as well as the dual fuel…
But here’s a secrete you can get the dual fuel 4500 with remote start from Wen.. it’s the same unit 🤫😁👍🏼 see it here amzn.to/3UedhI8
Thanks I have the same thoughts I really like to 2200 generators It’s so handy
For the price they charge for these, they should be dual-fuel out of the box.
Darn right …
But EcoFlow is the way to go with a back up generator
Yes!
Harbor 3500 predator is just as quiet and sells for $800
I have 1500 hours on my Predator 3500 on a sailboat I took the sides off to mount it in the engine room but that didn't work out so I've had the poor bugger out in the rain for 2 years open frame with just a heavy tarp over the top when it gets wet... I get two solid 13 amd circuits out of it and the battery electric start gets it going instantly every time. I did recently have to do a valve adjustment that I should have done a year ago!
Nothing is like 15-20 years ago 😢
Does that make me a smuggler?😂
🤫 sources cant be revealed 😂
People sell their Honda generators because they run it on gasoline and gasoline clogs it up. Always get a conversion kit before using it and run it on propane only.
No propane kit for this unit yet. Not sure if there will be one
I do think it’s overpriced! Depends on or usage.
Propane has less energy than gas so the generator output on propane is less than on gas.
its only just $1000 the other $1500+ is the name
Yuppp!
⏳️
Way way too long and yappy Johnny! Lost interest 3 o4 times. I'm a Honda guy. I was waiting to hear the verdict and gave up.
Giving up is never a option 😂
Too overpriced!
Chsmpion 3000w dual fuel way to go.
Much lighter as well 👍
Dude , who you working for Yamaha , champion, harbor freight? Every one knows HONDA PRODUCTS ARE bullet proof! You gotta do a lotta talking to convince people not to buy Honda products!
Of If I was would I be buying all of these products myself..???
Sounds like you need to do more research.
Eu7000is EFI unit has tons of problems. Sure there are some good ones but several bad ones. Nothing like a $5500 paper weight
Warranty .. what warranty.
All paid for by me…
The eu3200 is a great unit. But definitely not for $2799…. That’s crazy $1800 maybe for a 2600 watt unit
Has anybody purchased a generator from Ali Express?
I thought about it, but sometimes you need a minimum order of say at least 2-4 and then you have to deal with customs which can be problematic
Wayyyyyy too many commercials.... Can't stay.
Wow interesting thanks for letting me know 👍🏼
