    Instead of multiplying the price by .6 to get sixty percent off, then subtracting it from the total, instead, multiply by .4 to get the amount you'll pay. $21.99x.4=8.80. Saves a step.Think of it as the amount you're paying, not the amount you're saving. 40% instead of 60.

    Nice video and great idea but just a few thoughts.
    On the yarn and you could have easily FMB'd them with how light they are an easily saved on the FBA fees and potentially made better margins. Also are you sure these ranks aren't over inflated due to a parent/child listings where good selling colors are making the rank over inflated on the slower selling colors? That happens alot on craft products and can cause bad buys easily. This is where Keepa and looking at data is highly needed vs blind buying based off BSR especially for newer sellers.

    Thanks for the video! I did something similar at Kohls before Christmas but by the time the shipment was processed by Amazon, Amazon had dropped their prices. What's your suggestion on something like this? Do I just list my items at a profitable price and let the listing sit there for however long it takes? Or do I lower my prices and make smaller margins?

  • @campisimike
    @campisimike 10 месяцев назад

    You know the way I have always done it was to move the decimal over to the left 1 place on both the cost and discount, and then multiply that by the % off. So for example $24.95 at 40% off would be $2.45*4. And you can generally round up the cost to make it easier to do in your head, so I would say it was $2.50*4 which is easy to come up with $10 off.

    For those who think it’s too much work, a lot of people work much harder in their 9 to 5 and don’t make near as much. This is just one option. Everyone has to decide for themselves what works best for them.

    Great video. The Amazon ap you are using, do you have to pay the monthly fee for Amazon to access that. We are not Amazon members? Also, when you put the money out to purchase all those items. How long will it take to actually to get your money back and profit when and if they sell? Do you list the items first before you ship it to Amazon or ship and wait for your items to be see buy people in Amazon? To me you have to put all the money up front and you do not know how long it will take for you to get the money back from those items.

    I don't trust JoAnns. In the first place, the items have a high mark-up and when put on sale, the customer is paying the regular price with a store profit. Don't be fooled. Stores do this all the time. They're not going to be out any money even on sales.

    Lots of math to make 20% profit margins. Got to find 2-5x or more profits. This is good for folks who have a large amount of income to dispose of. But a lot of these items with 200k ranks are not going to recover your money fast. If these items was selling this fast, the average crafter would be buying these up in this store but yet the shelves are full. That being said you wouldn't profit anything on these on ebay.

    Just not worth it for $5 or less an item when you think about gas to store, gas to mail, packing supplies, and time.

    • @ThriftSchool
      @ThriftSchool  10 месяцев назад +2

      Idk if you watched the whole video or not, but the paper find was massive. Multiple quantities of the same product help so much. Gas to the store and gas to mail always makes me chuckle. These stores are in my town and the UPS store is on my road, it couldn't have costed me more than $2 in gas. Packing supplies are maybe another $5-6 max. You can even find boxes for free at so many places if you are tight on cash.
      I recommend if you are new to check out Facebook Marketplace in the free section for bubblewrap and moving boxes. There is always a few people trying to give that stuff away. I think ill make a video breaking down all those costs in the future, because I hear this arguement a lot.
      Amazon is a different beast than ebay, you aren't paying to ship each item individually. You pay to ship a large box filled with items to Amazons warehouse and the price drastically dropps per item. Sometimes as low as 10 cents.

      The ranks help with understanding how fast things sell. All the paper should sell within a couple of weeks at most. When the rank is lower, the faster the item sells. Ive been doing this so long I can tell an item will sell decently fast this way.
