    WOW! I sure wish I would have seen this just before I started selling with Printify. I had just opened my Etsy shop, last September, had 10 mugs listed as a start, and sold $800 worth of mugs in my first three days (it was all for one mug, and it's STILL my best seller). I didn't know that I had to pay Printify, myself, and that Etsy would hold the money for - I think it was 45 days, but I could be wrong. I was being bombarded with sales, and had to get my (rich) brother involved to front the money. With this video, I would have been more prepared. The fees really got me at the start, too - I just didn't know.

    I am so glad you tell it like it is. You would not believe how many RUclipsrs do not mention upfront costs. That is very important information; especially when you've started out on sites that do not have those; because then it never even crosses your mind. Also really glad I found your channel before putting listings up on Etsy. I do have digital designs so I will definitely be sticking with that until I have a comfortable nest egg to fund any POD. Thank you so much!! ❤

    Great tips! Crazy how many people don’t know all these things when starting.
    Regarding any issues: always ALWAYS ask the customer for a picture before investing any time into their case! Sometimes people just message the wrong shop :D and it’s not even your item.

    Thank you so much for all the helpful tips! I was wondering how to compete with the other sellers selling things for dirt cheap? For example, I have to price my sweatshirts at the lowest $35.99 to make a tiny profit but I see the same type of sweatshirts listed for $8. Do you have any tips on how to compete with that? Thanks in advance!

    Wow that's crazy how this is the first time im hearing about up front cost after sales made. After watching tons of other youtubers talking about how to start an etsy store, but never once mentioned this. They are really doing a disservice not informing people about this at all. You're getting a sub from me off the strength of that alone. Thank you! Seriously, you just saved me. I lost my job and was just about to start this as a side income. Gonna have to wait i suppose lol. Stay blessed ❤️

    Hello Hannah! Thanks for this well explained video!
    Would it be possible to make a detailed video on how to open and configure an Etsy store, for real beginners, and especially insist on the part to configure a credit card to "advance" money when we have orders, waiting for Etsy to pay us... Because that's a part that's hard to understand, and to know, how much money do you recommend having on your card to start POD? Because none of the youtubers talk about how much money you need to start this business.
    Thank you so much for your help !

    • @hannahebeling
      @hannahebeling  Год назад +2

      I have a very detailed walk through of how to set up linked at the end of this video. I would recommend having enough that you could “pay for” around 10 orders. So maybe like $100-200 While you are unlikely to get this amount of orders in a single day, it’s best to be safe.

    What do you do for the sizes small and medium when they downsize the design? I have had a few complaints that the design is so small when they do this.

    • @hannahebeling
      @hannahebeling  Год назад +2

      I typically try to have my designs be big enough cover up as much of the print area as possible. I honestly haven't had issues with this, but if it keeps being a problem for you, you could create a mockup image to put in all your listing that reflects the print area for each size and say something like "Actual print size may vary slightly from mock-ups."

    I have a successful Etsy shop and want to add in POD. Will the pod sales come out of my Etsy finances or do they charge my personal account then I have to wait to be paid by Etsy? I have my Etsy set up for payment weekly but I don’t want to have a pod item take off and have to fund a huge bill upfront?

    In another video, you showed how to use sale samuri's profit calculator and you said etsy off site ads fee is around 12% but watching this video, you say that etsy takes around 6.5% cut on every sale which you did not show in that samuri profit calculation video - so if we do our own profit calculation, do we include 6.5% AND 12% for the off site ads? Or am i misunderstanding something and youre saying the average charge from etsy is 6.5%? I hope that question makes sense lol.
    LOVE your content btw ❤ I'm learning so much and you've made me excited about the new potential income stream so thank you!

    • @hannahebeling
      @hannahebeling  10 месяцев назад +1

      The 6.5% is automatically calculated by Sale Samurai every time. That is just the cut Etsy takes for you making a sale. So yes, factor in both of those when doing your own calculations. Hopefully offsite ads will average to be much much lower than that 12% in reality too, but its good to estimate on the safe side.

    One more question- sorry. One of my biggest concerns is the packaging that they have when they send it out. Let’s say an Tshirt order is sent to the customer…. What does the packaging look like when received? Is there a way to personalize it (if so, extra cost?)

    • @hannahebeling
      @hannahebeling  Год назад +3

      This is a great question! Printify does “blind” packaging, so it won’t say anything about who it is actually coming from. There is no way to customize the outside package, but there are some pretty cool options for branding. Printify offers a “branding insert” like a postcard with your info printed on demand for every order. They also can do custom neck labels.

    • @hannahebeling
      @hannahebeling  Год назад +3

      A lot of times they are selling at a loss to rank in sales and then switch prices. Or some people have deceptive pricing and have a baby shirt listed for sale at a low price so it shows up as that in search. Once you click on the correct size the price changes.
