    A few year ago, the management of Samyang replaced by the people from Samsung optics division which was dropped out. (No more samsung camera.) This is why Samyang’s products’ overall quality is getting better and better.

  • @ПітерАндрійХенфілдКолісник

    Hello from Kyiv. I am a Sony shooter and own a lot of Sony gear. I recently bought 2 Samyang lenses, 35mm F1.4 and the 85mm F1.4. The 85mm is supreme and you should review that lens because you will be blown away by the performance. The 35mm is a good lens and Samyang are working on software updates to improve the performance so perhaps you may want to revisit this in the future. I agree with your review of the 35mm but as a stills lens with average movement to or from you the lens performs very well. This lens is extremely good in normal use but fast action you will need something else and I would also switch to the A9 for this type of photography. Samyang have promised updates for the 35mm on going but you will need a lens station as their lenses do not update from the Sony body.
    Regards Peter

      Hello from Sweden!
      The 85mm is on it's way and the Review will be up in a short while (fantastic lens). The 35 is a bit slow and underwhelming for sure.
      Thanks for the comment man!

      Hi, Do you know if Sigma art 35mm 1.4 firmware could be updated through the Sony body?

    • @ПітерАндрійХенфілдКолісник
      @ПітерАндрійХенфілдКолісник 5 лет назад

      @@hamiddorosti3588 I believe not but I do not own Sigma lenses. I think you need to buy a Sigma dock as with Samyang and connect this to your computer to download and install. Usually only takes up to 5 minutes for this to be done. The only 3rd party lens I know that can be updated through the Sony camera is the Tamron 28 to 75mm F2.8

  • @chapoguzman8627
    @chapoguzman8627 5 лет назад

    I just upgraded from Sony a6000 to a7 iii. Already had the Sony 85mm 1.8, sold my Sigma 18-35mm and replaced it with the Samyang 35mm 1.4, and I only paid $400. I'm a happy camper right now. I also ordered the Godox/Adorama AD400 Pro for $400. I'm mostly set for now, only need an extra battery or two, maybe by the time spring comes around I'll order an ND clip on filter from STC Optics.

    Riktigt bra review! Har själv 50/1.4 samt 14/2.8. Kalas objektiv för prisklassen och för att börja bygga något med. Däremot 50in tror jag är deras första AF objektiv och den är lite för mjuk för jag ska känna mig nöjd många gånger.😅 det mest irriterande med 14mm är om man kör Continues AF, så ligger den väldigt ofta och rycker verkligen aktivt där. Bör fungera för video då om fokuseringen där är lite långsammare av det jag erfarit men med begränsat användande.😊

    • @PeterLindgren1
      @PeterLindgren1  5 лет назад +2

      Tack! Ja alltså jag blev ju sjukt imponerad av denna gluggen när det kommer till bilder som sagt, men videomässigt så var den sådär. Bilden är snygg men AF kass. Får se om jag kan testa 14mm framöver, den är intressant!

    Härlig kanal det här Peter! Tack för bra och informativa reviews och klipp! Jag flugfiskar och funderade precis på ett 70-200 f/4 till min A7iii för den typen av film (därför jag hamnade på din kanal).. men det känns lite som att det kanske är mer intressant att invänta ett Tamron f/2.8.

    • @PeterLindgren1
      @PeterLindgren1  5 лет назад +1

      Tack Mikael, kul att du gillar den!
      Hmm, den är svår ändå... Men iom att Sonys 70-200 har OSS så är den ju stadig att filma handhållet med till skillnad från en glugg som inte har OSS. Frågan är ju hur skarp och hur bra Tamrons alternativ är och när det kommer!

    • @Majbrasan

      @@londonvideographer Cool that someone has designed something for that lens but for me I already have filters and adaptor rings so even though this is available I would need to buy filters just for 1 lens and this would not be practical. I got this lens about 8 months ago and loved it at first! The lens completely locked up after a few months and isn't recognized by any bodies. After firmware update to V4.0 with the dock it worked for one day... then back to dead. Can't get ahold of Samyang support. Any ideas?? Tried on multiple A7III's and A6500; the dock recognizes the lens and firmware every time, despite not being seen by any bodies (lens never dropped or damaged, contacts are clean; stopped mid-shoot originally).

Many times it couldn't find focus on anything, then after 1-2 minutes of trying, it would shut down the camera and restart. There were times when the screen turned green and the Sony froze. you're in the same condition like me. Im going to grab 1635 f4 first very soon. and maybe the next one is prime lens for low light condition.
      I guess 1635 and 2875 is a perfect cover for all range? imo

    • @PeterLindgren1
      @PeterLindgren1  5 лет назад +2

      I would not go for the Sigma 20mm as said above if your main focus is video. The Tamron 28-75 is gonna be the most versatile lens that you can get for sure. I would combine it together with a lens that has OSS to make sure that you can shoot handheld footage that looks good. As Sebastian says, the 16-35 f4 is fantastic as a video lens!

    • @arunmeheta106
      @arunmeheta106 5 лет назад +2

    I saw you look through the back of the lens with the cap on! Rookie mistake Peter 😂 Great review, interesting lens, shame it sucks for filming, looks solid for everyday photos though. I over-use the Zeiss 35mm f2.8, it's so small I take it everywhere with me, razor sharp too! You can pick it up used for a similar price. Good call on the name change, remember to get that watermark changed too.

    • @PeterLindgren1
      @PeterLindgren1  5 лет назад +2

      Haha I wasnt looking through the lens, I was showing the front to the camera! Thanks, it's a solid lens for the price.
      I personally don't like the 35mm focal length so I'll stick to the wider or narrower!
      Done and done!

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba 5 лет назад +1

      @@PeterLindgren1 I've become very fond of the 35mm focal length to the point that I found myself shooting fashion, portraits, landscapes, travel, everything with it. 28mm is too wide for portraits, and 50mm too narrow for cityscapes. The 35mm ended up becoming my goto lens for almost everything. It's interesting testing yourself, using the same prime for a month for example to shoot everything, it really makes you become really creative.
