Hello from Kyiv. I am a Sony shooter and own a lot of Sony gear. I recently bought 2 Samyang lenses, 35mm F1.4 and the 85mm F1.4. The 85mm is supreme and you should review that lens because you will be blown away by the performance. The 35mm is a good lens and Samyang are working on software updates to improve the performance so perhaps you may want to revisit this in the future. I agree with your review of the 35mm but as a stills lens with average movement to or from you the lens performs very well. This lens is extremely good in normal use but fast action you will need something else and I would also switch to the A9 for this type of photography. I would not go for the Sigma 20mm as said above if your main focus is video. The Tamron 28-75 is gonna be the most versatile lens that you can get for sure. Good call on the name change, remember to get that watermark changed too.
Haha I wasnt looking through the lens, I was showing the front to the camera! Thanks, it's a solid lens for the price. I personally don't like the 35mm focal length so I'll stick to the wider or narrower! Done and done!
@@PeterLindgren1 I've become very fond of the 35mm focal length to the point that I found myself shooting fashion, portraits, landscapes, travel, everything with it. 28mm is too wide for portraits, and 50mm too narrow for cityscapes. @@sushrutrathod9015 Unfortunately i don't have an APSC camera :(
@@PeterLindgren1 thank you for your guidance sir...
I have a small doubt, which i think you might know the answer to it...
If i pair a weather sealed lens with the sony a6400... Can shoot in rain with the kit?
@@sushrutrathod9015 You're welcome! Well, not in heavy rain but in a drizzle would probably work yes!
Awesome! Samyang lens.
How do you change your channel name?
Great review looks like a great lens
It's actually really easy, I'll send a link to you on Facebook!
What version of the firmware is on this one?
Hey! Bro i have tamron 28-75mm and i want my second lens which lens do you prefer for video? Please do suggest..!
20mm 1.4 sigma
you're in the same condition like me. Im going to grab 1635 f4 first very soon. and maybe the next one is prime lens for low light condition.
I guess 1635 and 2875 is a perfect cover for all range? imo
I would not go for the Sigma 20mm as said above if your main focus is video. The Tamron 28-75 is gonna be the most versatile lens that you can get for sure. I would combine it together with a lens that has OSS to make sure that you can shoot handheld footage that looks good. As Sebastian says, the 16-35 f4 is fantastic as a video lens!
Yup!! That's it I'm going for 16-35 f4 and thank you so much Sebastianus and Peter i was so confused before but i known now.
@@arunmeheta106 You won't be disappointed, it's a truly great lens for video. All the top down shots of my reviews are shot with that using Autofocus!
Is this good in astrophotography?
Lite mera hår på huvudet här ja ☺️
I saw you look through the back of the lens with the cap on! Rookie mistake Peter 😂 Great review, interesting lens, shame it sucks for filming, looks solid for everyday photos though. I over-use the Zeiss 35mm f2.8, it's so small I take it everywhere with me, razor sharp too! You can pick it up used for a similar price.
The 35mm ended up becoming my goto lens for almost everything. It's interesting testing yourself, using the same prime for a month for example to shoot everything, it really makes you become really creative.
@@PhillipSkraba Awesome, i'm going to use the 24mm GM for the coming 3 weeks now, so that's exciting!
this lens doesn't leave my a7iii. i use it for portraits and videos and have no problems. make sure you upgrade the firmware of this lens to the latest to get the best performance.
I had this lens on the latest firmware as of the recording but there might be a new one that has dropped that i haven't tried.
@@PeterLindgren1 the latest version is 4. Just tried it today and video AF is much better.
@@MarkLargo It dropped at june 21st (this video was recorded at the 2nd) so there was no option to update it since it wasn't released. But glad it's working better!
@@PeterLindgren1 I thought the firmware was released in May but I could be wrong. Anyway, it's an awesome lens and needs more positive videos like yours to promote it.
what firmware did you test this lens with?
V04, the latest that they got on their website
Did you update the firmware of the lens?
Didn't want to buy the lens station since the lens was a loaner so nope.
Where can I change to manual focus?
In camera
Changed your channel name I see Peter....Lol
Yep! I got convinced :D
hi looks like u found another one of my favorite channels lol
@@jimmyhidalgo2680 Yes Jimmy you have great taste what can I say! Looks like I need to tell you a few more to check out lol 😂
Paul Feinberg would be appreciated! Sry i havnt been so active on ur channel but i got my phone taken away and i cant always be on my computer and when i am its for stuff i really need to see, do u know any good AE tutorials?
@@jimmyhidalgo2680 Oh man, you should be a good boy Jimmy! LOL......I actually do not see many creators talk about AE. I personally use FCPX because 1. no subscription fee 2. There are so many titles and plugins so I do not have to worry about learning AE. LOL
It is kind of too big, it is the most frequent issue i have with the lenses for the Sony system
Is the auto focus good enough for a talking head video?
this looks appealing for astrophotography
ill go with sigma 35mm art then
Haven't tried it but I do think that the sigma will be a better choice than this one. However, this is really sharp at f1.4 and works really good for photos!
Hi man, i was searching a 35mm lens with image stabilazation because i have the Original A7 and when i filtered image stabilzation this came up and i am not used to samyang having image stabilzation.
does it have it or not?
GroeppieZX I no, and There are not any 35 mm with ibis, maybe jump to a7ii
almost got this lens, went for the 24 1.4 GM instead. I can always make it a 36mm on crop mode or my a6300 anyway. kind of like two lenses in one
Oh, the GM is just in a completely different league in every way! Good choice there, I might just go for it myself 🤔.
Yeap. Good enough for a sub. Very good english (says the swede) :)
Found it for $300 used!
I was like something is different
🤓
Hörde svenska . Direkt sub.
