    This LESSONS Series playlist you are doing is absolute gold. I know a lot of these topics are covered in some of your older vids but having all these essentials brought in together in learning order is absolutely brilliant. You are a master teacher !!!

    I love that you are showing what we are usually doing wrong, I saw myself there so many times (and I didn't even try this transition, but I do some of these mistakes in other moves)

    Yo I was skating sunday night (it's tuesday) and noticed I still wasn't sure how to turn back around without doing a toe-stop turn, fancy that timing. Perfect video, thank you so much. And yes, I am definitely in skating for life, I'm sure. It's been around 5 months now and I've been just practicing basics, not trying to copy tricks, I know once I get a solid foundation the "tricks" will come naturally. Someone yelled, "Now I need to learn THAT," to me one of the first times I felt I was truly vibing at the rink (Sunday), and it was so validating.

    It’s really helpful to see that you’re doing more of a 2 point turn than a complete 180. I keep trying to do a 180 and fall over myself trying!

Since I don’t really know any moves, I was practicing balancing on one foot just like you showed. Today, after watching your video I was able to successfully go from backwards to forward! Your such a good teacher! All your little tips and break down make it easy to understand and try.

    My ability to turn like this is correlating pretty closely with my ability to hold a back outside edge (but I still cheat and kinda just turn on the back axles). But also, one thing that was making this and the forwards-backwards turns *sooooo much more* difficult when I started was having the big chunky stable grippy default stock wheels on my Suregrip skates. They grip like buggery, with Zero margin for error if my foot when down at the wrong angle. Now those are still fun for hooning around corners at high speed, but the very first lesson after I got harder indoor wheels, with that bit of forgiving slide all of a sudden I could do mohawks, sidestance/spreadeagle, powerslides, (fell over from pushing too hard on crossovers), all that speccy stuff.

    This is so helpful!! I notice i have very smooth turn half the time and that horrible push off the other half. Your example was the perfect example of what i wouldn't be able to put into words to inquire about. Also i may have to put a neck foam thingy on because I'm currently awful with looking down. Ways i avoid it is use the mirror and look myself dead in the eyes, or open my windows blinds and look out. But darn if the look down sneaks back. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU BRING TO THE SKATE WORLD especially those of us new to the adventure.

    I’ve watched your earlier videos on this but I NEEDED the reminder to turn my head! Lately I’ve been wondering why my transitions were feeling rusty, especially when I try to turn to the left. It’s because I wasn’t turning my head enough! I guess I just got “lazy” once I felt I had the move down. I went out yesterday, followed this advice and they went so much smoother!

    I was at the rink in beginner 2 lessons on Saturday and asked this same question to someone else.
    If that question made it to you, and you rolled your eyes at hearing it again, I am sorry. But at the same time, THANK YOU for this breakdown. Believe me I am going to be memorizing every aspect of this video, and how to turn around front to back. 3 months of skating, 5 months of toe injury recovery time, and 1 month of starting over skating, and I still have big fear and clumsy feet. I can do front crossovers, but for some reason, I cannot seem to get my brain to do this. And trust me that is really frustrating knowing that you're trying and just can't seem to get it.

So gotta remember to use weight and lean. You make me laugh! The whole thing about making things big is something I have to get out of my head! Small and tight! But so you know I'm 5'10 and on skates I'm 6'3!also WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA AND TUTORIALS IN THE LATE 70'S 😂😂😂 or in the 80s and 90s for that matter. Thank you deb your the bomb!!! We keep asking because it's haaaard and asking for a magic solution is not 😂
    Do you think the cushion hardness play an important role in this? My skates currently don't carve* at all and I feel like if I have a little bit of speed and my two feet don't get super close to 180° then the wheels of the forward foot will act as a break and I'll stumble face first in the floor 🙈
    *Carving, that's when the skate makes a curve with all wheels on the ground without sliding any of them, due to the trucks mobility, is that correct? My cushions are hard and then my trucks don't have this mobility.

  • @l1nywoos
    @l1nywoos 3 года назад

    Love this!! My balance needs serious work so after standing on one foot I’m now skating forward and backward on one foot. Super hard.
    Why can’t I skate in a straight line backwards on one foot?

    • @Dirtydeborahharry
      @Dirtydeborahharry  3 года назад +1

      Could be that your trucks are too loose, your upper body is out of alignment, you currently lack muscle strength to hold the position or you just are not used to it yet. So keep working on it!

  • @theaterhobo
    @theaterhobo 7 месяцев назад

    I noticed when you do it, you're curving into the transition instead of trying to place your feet completely 180° apart from each other. Meanwhile I've been here trying move in a completely straight line, stretching my hips as far as they can possibly go 😂. I can't wait to give this another try ❤ Ty!

  • @AmandaSkate

    When I do a back to front transition, I tend to just pivot on my back heal so it’s smoother after I step with my lead foot. I’ve been trying to step into it on my lead foot, but I end up on an inside edge on that lead foot. How would describe what you do so that your lead foot is on an outside edge?
