For all of those complaining about the skaters falling in the background being distracting. I think that we should all just be very grateful that Dirty chooses to share all of these valuable and educational tutorials with us for free!!!
I thought the same thing. When Dirty was in by 10 minutes the guy behind her fell and he didn’t move for awhile, I thought he hurt himself. Yes, they were a distraction. The lesson was great though.
Wanted to add: falling is a part of skating and it's getting up and trying again that matters. Dirty with the life lessons! Love you Dirty!! The people in the back are amazing!!
Every time I practice, I can hear Dirty saying "trust me!" in the most encouraging, excited tone. Your vids are so helpful for getting psyched up and excited to try new things!
Thumbs Up just for the background entertainment alone. Omg!!! The fall at 3:52 was golden, great job. This is probably a great instructional video but just cannot take eyes off all the bloopers in the background.
I have been struggling with a fear of jumping sooo much lately - I really thought 'the higher the better', this video has helped me so much! I'll definitely be trying them out tomorrow with newfound confidence, thank you Deb!
Your videos and teaching style/methodology are unmatched - sooo grateful! You're the best. This is the first video I'm having a hard time focusing on because of all the carnage in the background - pure comedy (they are obviously very skilled and uninjured). I don't even notice them fall, but my eyes must catch them in the periphery, and by the time I look, I just see what appears to be a motionless pile of crumpled human. Hahaha! The juxtapose between your high energy and the magically appearing corpse has me rolling. It's definitely worth having to rewind. Thank you so much for this content!
Whenever I watch your videos while I'm just sitting down, I feel my body engaging the core whenever you mention snack area and then I realize I'm also conscious of posture -- only for watching skate tutorial videos
Sweetie your tutorials are awesome and help not only newer people but those that have skated for years, maybe the style of quad boots are a little different but the principles are the same. I loved speed skating but I also loved rythm skating as well. Keep up the awesome videos so hopefully more people can know the enjoyment of skating
Anyone else having issues keeping your eyes on Dirty and off the skaters in the background!?!? No!? Just me, reliving my teen years!?!? LOL... Dirty, remember I told you that my coach instructed me to jump higher on jumps, fearing for my life!!! Well, back then I didn't, but at my age now... I'm afraid of taking my own life!!! LOL... I realize that when I was younger the coaches were trying to get me into competitions, if they could get me to turn 1.5 to 2 axels... So, I'm always over compensating in my mind those times, reliving my PTSD!!! LOL... after watching your instruction on Waltz jumps and just bringing it back down to the basics, I now just get satisfaction with a .25 turn, if I didn't even turn a .5!!! How's Uncle Bob doing!?!? I wonder if I will still be agile or stiff by the time I am his age!!! That's stiff, 6' under!!! LOL... Anyway, you are the greatest at reminding me to always bring it back to the basics!!! I think that's the best thing for those of us that are aging, is to remember as long as we keep the mechanics of the trick... It's what matters most. Just remember the times when we were killing it, when we were younger!!! My wife had to remind me, when I was comparing myself to you... "yeah, but she does it every day... You've taken nearly what? a 10-15 year break!!!" "It doesn't feel like it's been more than 5," I tell her!!! She and the kids flip out at me, whenever, I'm just practicing on carpet. I laugh when I hear them say, "You're going to get hurt, ya old man!" And I retort, "I'm on carpet... my wheels are dead." Then I hear them yell back... "Oh, like you're gonna be!?!?" LOL... Family life!!!
Love this! Thank you so much for making the point of not trying to get maximum air with our jumps. I always feel like I’m failing because I barely get off the ground, when really nailing the technique should be the aim.
I love the practice in the background. I know everyone is calling them dramatic falls but honestly it doesn't hurt to fall when you just let it happen. I've rolled like a log on the rink before but had no bruises.
It’s been 18 days since I’ve had enough energy to put my skates on because Covid-19 has run through my entire family like a cat with its tail on fire since Christmas. This makes me so sad! I think I’m the only one left with lingering symptoms, and my son just came home from university last night to quarantine. His roommate tested positive, and my son didn’t want to have to move into the quarantine dorms. Anyway….Your videos are helping to keep my spirits up and giving me new things to work on for when I get the pep back in my step. As always, thanks for sharing your time and skills with everyone. Your cheerful smile and confidence-boosting attitude help so much more than you will ever know! ✌🏼💜🛼
I really needed this and just in good timing you make the video! Love the girls in the background practicing complicated moves and keep at it even after falling
Omg, watching those kids in the background have me petrified to jump and spin.. im old and brittle. If i fall like that, i will break a hip and die of pneumonia 🤣🤣🤣
This jumping around just reminds me that 90's song Jump around 🎶 and also that when I was younger I was just doing jumps instinctively.. just by watching the figure skaters practices ... Good times 😊
Looks like someone from FVSC won a medal at the Rocky Mountain Artistic Invitational in Colorado Springs.. I'm in Denver and part of the Artistic Club along with my wife. Devin Simas is an amazing teacher and top 5 best skaters dead or alive.
Hey Dirty Deb, I was actually practicing this after you posted, and the jumping caused a stress fracture in my leg, and now I can't skate for several weeks. :'( Can I ask, should adults and heavier people have higher support boots before they start practicing basic jumps like these? Should I start investing in three hundred dollar figure skating boots for example--would that help prevent injuries, you think? Or would the support rating of the boot not help with that kind of thing, and this is such a simple jump too? Would appreciate your opinion on it! For your reference I was using Rio Roller Signature. I'd say i'm a size 10 adult body in terms of clothes sizing if that helps with an idea on my weight!!
🙌 Wow! This is such a great lesson. I never thought I would consider doing this. The way you break it down makes it possible for me to wrap my head around it. So, I am doing this off-skates for now, and taking this one small step at a time. Also, just realized I gotta put a bra on😂
@@Dirtydeborahharry Was just surprised she was on the floor for a while so I wasn't really sure if she was just chilling there or if something was wrong haha! I got distracted by the two skaters in the back during this video I had to rewind to understand you hahaha.
She is an incredibly talented figure skater and is about 12 years old sooooo... we gotta let them have fun while practicing their chosen discipline for hours and hours a day.

Trying so hard to concentrate but then I see that person just collapse and stop moving in the background 😭😭😭
I thought the same thing. When Dirty was in by 10 minutes the guy behind her fell and he didn’t move for awhile, I thought he hurt himself. Yes, they were a distraction. The lesson was great though.
Please include people falling dramatically in the background in every new video. So educational, so entertaining. THIS is content!!

Sadly I disagree and find it distracting.

Thank you for these free classes. I’m skating again and came back to your videos.
I got so distracted with the people in the back lol some of the tricks they did were so impressive and 3:50 was kinda funny
The drama that unfolded back there was intense. I was wondering when that kid was going to get up. LOL
@@elleyj1754 haha me and my friend were messing around and she fell lol but shes ok we fall alot :)
@@tarafrench5479 aww you two are absolutely adorable and I'm glad you're ok. You're famous now for being in Deb's video!!

I suppose RUclips wouldn't be happy if you played Van Halen, but that crazy "Jump" game you used to do with the kids is how I learned this.
awww I love that game!

Im god awful at jumping so this video will help alot
That poor child at 10:50
Did you notice she cut it there to hide the body?
I'm a backwards skater and I really wanna learn to jump
You can do it! Just apply these techniques.
10:52 😂 I hope they’re okay
