Opera singers against the coronavirus: Armando Ariostini, Panis Angelicus

Gramilano happens to be a neighbour of Armando Ariostini, a baritone who works tirelessly for Casa Verdi, the retirement home for musicians, here in Milan.
To keep spirits up, Italians have been doing what they naturally do: sing! At midday and 6 p.m. people are opening their windows and playing the national anthem, the song Volare, Va, pensiero from Verdi's Nabucco, and other songs from Italy's Greatest Hits.
For the last week, at 6 o’clock, Armando has been coming out onto his balcony and singing a mini-concert for all us closed in our homes, finishing with Mameli's anthem, Fratelli d'Italia. Grazie!

So beautiful, with a depth of soul I usually associate with blues and soul singers. I've been looking all over for his performance of Ahvey Maria (sp?), I saw and heard just 10 seconds of it in a clip on the nightly news, and I started sobbing these weird tears where I wasn't at all sad or upset, rather the opposite if anything, I've never had a piece of music or performer make me weep in this very strange way. Maybe the isolation is getting to me after a month and a half, but in any case, I want to hear it again desperately because it was such an experience of peace especially in this weird time every person, the whole human race at once, is finding themselves in. Thanks for posting this one, too, though, though so touching it his other videos haven't had quite that dramatic affect as the first one.
