  • 1. Make sure fresh plants are dry-wilted {let them wither and release water for a day or so}.
    2. Place finely chopped herbs in the top pot of a double boiler with the oil.
    3. Turn stove on low and let cook for at least an hour, but up to four hours, stirring occasionally. You want the oil to take on the smell and color of the herbs!
    4. Turn off heat and allow to cool. Once cooled, strain using a nut milk bag or cheesecloth. If you've used fresh dry-wilted herbs, do not squeeze, but set in a colander over a bowl to let drip.
    5. Bottle in a glass jar, label, and store in a cool, dark space.

    Do you monitor the temperature of the oil during the infusion process?

      Hi, John! I just make sure it doesn't bubble. Keep it on low heat.

    I put fresh alovera and oil. It molded a little. Can i still use the oil for hair products

      I would scrape the mold off of the top and then keep in the fridge! You can still use as long as it doesn't smell "off".

      Use powder so you don't have to worry about mold ... if not, add optiphen preservative.

    What’s the longest you’ve left the oil to infuse?

    • @wildgardenfarms
      @wildgardenfarms  Год назад

      I've let the oil infuse for 3 hours in a double boiler method. In a crock pot method, I've let it go for 2 days.
