I'm not sure how I ended up doing this at near enough midnight, but thank you kindly! The DVD drive I had lying around didn't work, but I did have a laptop DVD drive which, after some soldering shenanigans, I managed to get working with my SATA USB connector 😂

To those getting "the disc could not be read", this probably won't help you, but all I had to do to fix that was try opening and closing my disc tray a few times. Eventually it read it successfully. Perhaps my laser is dirty or something.

Hey, thanks for a detailed tutorial of this. But when I download the prebuilt iso files, and extract it, i am getting a video ts folder with 3 vlc ifo files, and not an .iso file. Any help on this? I used winrar to extract the files.
@@ArchadesGames hey! when i am trying to download, for some reason, it is being saved as a compressed file, similar to how the funtuna folder is downloaded, instead of a single iso file as shown in the video, and that’s what is confusing me.
@@ArchadesGames I did a little testing and some models of the ps2 do not like the free dvd boot burn from imagine burner so you have to use CDburnerXP at 1x write speed kinda weird

Does it matter if the bios battery is dead or not? given my Slim is over 20 years old now and I've never opened it up I'm sure it's probably dead by now. I know my Fat one (modded) is dead as the time is always at the year 2000 when it starts, games still boot though (via actual discs not emulation). I'm keen to try this in near future, I did buy a couple extra official 8mb cards a couple years back so I'm thinking I should be good.

I've come to accept that my 2009 slim ps2 is not moddable. But are you saying that every slim PS2 has a mod now to play any ps1 and ps2 game
Anything compatible with OPL and
PS1 games can be done with a swap trick and burned discs.

You can but USB 1.1 is too slow for most games so you will have performance problems. Network loading or ESR patched discs is better for slims

You need a working DVD drive to do the exploits yourself otherwise buy a premoded memory card.

No. And you can update a premade card from the PS2 because it is already exploited.

Why do you need the dvd-r? Cant you just copy from usb to memory card?
Because you trigger the exploit with the DVD. How do you expect to copy things from USB to a memory card on a stock console?

You are extracting the iso if it is giving you those folders

I know the new IDE emulator from the guy who made the 3DO ode supports PSX HDD emulation but that's about it as far as the HDD goes.

FunTuna isn't as seamless as other PS2 models but it gets the job done

My 64 MB memory card didnt install FMCB, is there any way I can get help to fix that or should I just buy another memory card with less storage?
Less is better but if you are buying another card may as well just get a premoded one.
