It had just as much meaning as it needed to have for everyone who grew up with this movie and didn't know what it meant truly, to over the years of us rewatching it after so many life experiences giving way to new interpretations of it. It was meant to have as much meaning behind it as the innocent child listening to it needed it to have. As a wise turtle once said, there are no accidents.
So, just a few months ago, a friend of mine dropped out of college and since then, I've been asking myself if I shouldn't do the same thing... It was harsh, I was questioning if I was capable of carrying on, if my dream of graduating was strong enough to keep me in there. Well, among the japanese piano playlist i've put to help me with my japanese architecture work, this song reminded me about what Oogway said about futures, pasts and presents. And this really helped me to snap out of that anxiety. I'm sharing this because I want to say to whoever reads this, if you're are going through harsh times, never forget that each day is truly a gift. I want you to never doubt yourself because you're tired, or anxious ou confused. Believe in you, in your dreams, believe in the strength you had to reach this far, believe in the hope you have for better days. Believe in yourself buddy, the sun may not shine on all days, but everyday we can feel its warmth.
I did go through the same thing. I dropped out of my master's degree from the most prestigious university of my country. I started to doubt myself and just couldn't go on. Right after that, I immensely regretted my decision, thinking I should've held on a little longer. I don't know how to cope up with this depression now.
I feel like Oogway is one of those characters who's better the less he's in it; that way his words and actions are a lot more powerful and connect more with the audience, as we know we won't see him often. But hey, that's just how I feel.

A week into learning this piece. Starting 1:29 is so impressive to me. I can arpeggiate just fine, however getting the main theme notes to sound hard, and the other notes soft is extremely difficult! All power to you Sir Patrick :)
I just replied with my own comment then clicked below and saw yours which is nearly identical. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has a hard time bringing out the melody while simultaneously tearing up the arpeggios! My upright piano doesn't have the dynamic range that I need to really bring it out.
Just learn the notes first, and so well that you can do it without thinking, then focus on the firmness of which keys to press and other “beauty” elements. At least personally that’s how I do it.
I've been working on this one for a month or so. To those who don't play the piano, the most difficult thing on this one isn't the speed on the right hand - it's bringing out the MELODY which is interlaced in between the left hand and the speedy arpeggios on the right hand. It's magic and FUN to play.
Thanks to you and your transposition of this piece, I was able to play this at a wedding on a 100+ yr old piano. I still can't do the 16th notes, but I rewrote the ending so I could play the ending even though I couldn't handle the hard part yet. Love this song. Thank you for putting the notes on paper so the rest of us could try our hand!
Whenever I'm feeling upset or down, I come back to this video to listen to this song. It really helps cheer me up and remind me that the struggle isn't all there is.
I feel like this song takes me on such a journey through Oogway’s life. Like from when he was first born, to growing up, to mastering Kung fu and all the battles he had, to the moment he met Po and then his slow but not sad realisation that his life is coming to the end. The powerful ending makes it seem like he’s not really gone he’s just having a great adventure somewhere else, he didn’t die of old age he went out with a bang, I mean who else gets to disappear among the petals of a cherry blossom tree but the great master of Kung fu?

I learnt that song about a year ago. I decided to play it at my graduation, I wanted to show everyone what I can do and I did that, I nearly started crying after I stood up and smiled in the audience which was also crying I looked to my classmates and saw perfection in their eyes. Unfortunately I couldn’t go to the same school as my best friend, but playing the piano is our connection, and we are going to stay best friends to the end of our lifes.

There is something gentle, fragile even about this piece.. i somehow feel a lot more emotion than by a fully orchestrated piece (both versions are beautiful!) but somehow the piano speaks to me on a deeper level. Absolutely amazing cover!

My grandpa passed on christmas eve. I guess I’ve just been in shock the past few days. Everyone I know asking me if I’m alright and giving their condolences, I tell everyone that im fine and it’s not too painful. But every single one of these past few days when I’ve been alone, I have truly taken the time to reflect upon the memories I have with that man. A week into learning this piece. Starting 1:29 is so impressive to me. I can arpeggiate just fine, however getting the main theme notes to sound hard, and the other notes soft is extremely difficult! All power to you Sir Patrick :)
I just replied with my own comment then clicked below and saw yours which is nearly identical. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has a hard time bringing out the melody while simultaneously tearing up the arpeggios! My upright piano doesn't have the dynamic range that I need to really bring it out.

Just learn the notes first, and so well that you can do it without thinking, then focus on the firmness of which keys to press and other “beauty” elements.
At least personally that’s how I do it.

I've been working on this one for a month or so. To those who don't play the piano, the most difficult thing on this one isn't the speed on the right hand - it's bringing out the MELODY which is interlaced in between the left hand and the speedy arpeggios on the right hand.
It's magic and FUN to play.
Thanks to you and your transposition of this piece, I was able to play this at a wedding on a 100+ yr old piano. I still can't do the 16th notes, but I rewrote the ending so I could play the ending even though I couldn't handle the hard part yet. Love this song. Thank you for putting the notes on paper so the rest of us could try our hand!

Whenever I'm feeling upset or down, I come back to this video to listen to this song. It really helps cheer me up and remind me that the struggle isn't all there is.
I feel like this song takes me on such a journey through Oogway’s life. Like from when he was first born, to growing up, to mastering Kung fu and all the battles he had, to the moment he met Po and then his slow but not sad realisation that his life is coming to the end. The powerful ending makes it seem like he’s not really gone he’s just having a great adventure somewhere else, he didn’t die of old age he went out with a bang, I mean who else gets to disappear among the petals of a cherry blossom tree but the great master of Kung fu?

I learnt that song about a year ago. I decided to play it at my graduation, I wanted to show everyone what I can do and I did that, I nearly started crying after I stood up and smiled in the audience which was also crying I looked to my classmates and saw perfection in their eyes. Unfortunately I couldn’t go to the same school as my best friend, but playing the piano is our connection, and we are going to stay best friends to the end of our lifes.

There is something gentle, fragile even about this piece.. i somehow feel a lot more emotion than by a fully orchestrated piece (both versions are beautiful!) but somehow the piano speaks to me on a deeper level. Absolutely amazing cover!

My grandpa passed on christmas eve. I guess I’ve just been in shock the past few days. Everyone I know asking me if I’m alright and giving their condolences, I tell everyone that im fine and it’s not too painful. But every single one of these past few days when I’ve been alone, I have truly taken the time to reflect upon the memories I have with that man. A true inspiration to me, and a man I will never forget. This song just reminds me that it’s a part of everyone’s life, and that there’s nothing I can do about it.
