Nice Bronco. This is how I would order one. It is interesting that they remark how it has so many features for a base model. Dude, it is still a $36K vehicle, it ought to have a rich feature set.
I have a ford bronco outer banks and paid a pretty penny for it but I also have lots of options when he said that the base model with no features cost 35,000 that is absolutely ridiculous I fully understand the supply chain issues but my god for something like that with absolutely nothing everything cheap and plastic on the interior should never be above 30,000
That was my first thought when he said how shocked even the dealer was at getting it so fast. All that extra tech not being there means they can turn these out sooner than their option loaded models.
Thank you for this review. I like it a lot. It would have been nice if TFL did the cheap Bronco overlander similar to the failed LR Defender series. Hopefully there will be a follow up next year to see how his Bronco has evolved.
The bronco is super cool I think it’s amazing Ford brought it back although, I prefer to have vents in the back like my gladiator does but they both have their pros and cons! Plus more competition means more improvements to both ford and Jeep!
If you would have said "I only paid $36,000 for a 2-door base model truck" not all that long ago, people would have looked at you like you were crazy. At the rate we're going soon we'll be saying that for a base 2-door $50,000 truck. But given today's pricing and availability yes, he did get a good deal.
I purposely bought the base model but added the Sasquatch Package that added front and rear lockers, added the mod bumper and the six switches, for a base with wireless Apple car play, power windows it’s a great value at $41275
The system varies the amount of slip based on how much resistance it can feel. Snow, sand etc. It fully locks the wheel. On harder surfaces it will use the ABS to pulse the brakes so they don't lock up completely.
Love base model trucks! When the time comes that I order my bronco, I definitely want the 2 door. But great video. I agree with others, it’s about time we stop profiling these expensive trucks and look at the base models. 👍
In all reality, 20yrs from now an unmolested factory original base model will go for a boatload at Mecum or Barrett Jackson because they simply don’t exist.
Yeah this is actually a pretty good deal for a “base model”. A decent amount of amenities standard and having the Ford pass on your phone is an added bonus. Just throw on some beefier tires and this thing has already to go
This was a nice interview on this Bronco. I love the owners view and patience on waiting for the right parts and not just jumping on what's cheap or available NOW. Glad he got the solid axle model and not the subframe "sport" model. I kinda wonder how the eco boost 4 is gonna hold up. But yeah man thank you for sharing this.
Great job Destin! 👏 Excellent choice, I love the steel wheels and you have everything you need for 35k to do some decent off roading except tires. Personally I wouldn't lift it bc of power amd mileage but slap some bigger tires like KO2. I love the utilitarian purposeful look like an older defender. Love what you did man good call!
This guy inadvertently brings up a good point about how dealerships can function as cars start to go electric and thus require less maintenance. Instead of always fixing the car, the dealership can be the place where you get options and accessories added to your car after you purchase it if you want.
I love that Bronco! I also had a Bronco II (1984, 2-dr, 4 speed manual 4x4, w/ low range). I miss that little truck. Your friend's new "budget" Bronco is the spiritual successor to the old Bronco II. Please keep bringing us viewers more videos like these!
My ford experience was considerably worse. I put my order in September of 21 for a ranger XL 2wd. I find out in November that they added 4wd “ by accident” they claimed ( wonder if they were trying to rip me off). So on 11/6/21 I have to resubmit the order and I get bumped to an “ early” 2022. Problem is I’m relying on selling my old Toyota Tacoma to help defray costs if I wanna buy it and lack of communication was a big problem with ford. 4 months I’ve waited now with no clue when they're going to build it and with it they’re costing me money I could make from my old truck. I started looking elsewhere when I got a “ we have no idea when we’re building your truck” email. With wait times going from 6 to 12 months I couldn’t afford to wait and risk getting almost nothing for my old truck ( my old one needed work to sell it which I couldn’t take the time to do while it was in daily driver service). Ultimately I got my deposit back and canceled the ranger to buy a Toyota Tacoma which was already assembled and in transit. So I’m not very happy with ford over it as I really did want the ranger but seeing as ford dropped the ball it’s on them
Curious what the actual sales price was. I’ve seen the base model Broncos for sale in the seattle market for well over $50k. I really hope buyers are rejecting this level of price gouging. I haven’t seen many on the streets yet, so maybe they are.
My 2021 2dr with a couple options was around 32K. 2nd day Reservation, signed paperwork for MSRP and my Stealership was going to mark it up. Ended up only $1500 over MSRP but the Stealership lost a Customer forever. They had their Demo's already sold with markups of 18 - 20k New England, Connecticut here...
Exactly what I bought (including the modular bumper) and I couldn’t be happier. I love this truck and looking forward to customizing it to make it mine 👍
I actually like the green a lot. And if you're going to modify it anyway, why buy expensive options that you are just going to remove? It seems pretty well equipped and with all the wiring still there from the higher spec models, you'd be a fool not to buy a base model... 👍🏼👍🏼
Beautiful. I want a base model as well. Those tires are probably better on road for noise and fuel economy, too. The local dealer had a base 2-door manual delivered for an order the other day when I happened to be there. It was this same green and looked amazing.
Eruption Green Base Bronco with Sasquatch owner checking in here. We wanted the factory lockers and 35s. Base Sasquatch is a well thought out off road package that needs nothing else for 95% of the off roading we will do. Only thing else we could have wanted is factory remote start and heated seats, but they werent deal breakers. Nor did we want to spend an extra 6 grand for the OPTION to get remote start and heated seats. Base Bronco is an incredible value and likely all most people will ever need.
I like how he says"nothing fancy" when this rig has ten times the bells and whistles as any base model from 5 years ago, seems like everything on that is luxury to me
That is absolutely correct, my 2017 F150 XL is loaded compared to my sons 2002 F150 Lariat, he does have power seats, don’t think his is both sides though. We have really become spoiled when it comes to options for sure.
I'm kind of sick of hearing people complain about the "plastic" inside. What do you want, a steel dash so you bust your head open while wheeling? Vegan leather like the $100k Rivian? It's plastic like 95% of everything else out there.
Really nice to see a truck that doesnt cost $107,000. I have a 17 F250 lariat and a 21 Expedition. Honestly I'm really sick of all the electronics. Time to get back to cheap and simple.
@@TFLoffroad yeah.. I get that, but a base level anything at 35K better come with some nice equipment. My RAV4 Adventure was that price and it is pretty featured.
I prefer a 6 cylinder naturally aspirated vs turbocharged 4 cylinder for durability, trouble free driving. I believe Ford made a major mistake not offering 6 and 8 cylinder options. After people own those turbo models and deal with more frequent repairs it will hurt Ford's reputation.
Cool, I know the press vehicles are usually loaded , it was nice to see a base model. Thinking of getting a 4x4 for my next vehicle and considering a base 2 door . Just doesn’t make sense that you can’t order a 2 door soft top , comes hardtop. Also considering the frontier and the taco . Possibly even a Maverick if they come out with the slightly lifted 4x4 version that’s been rumored.
Or the owner could just put on a leather steering wheel wrap themselves for $75-100 and not spend the money on all the options the factor would require in order to get just a leather steering wheel. Wheelskins is the way to go.
Bought a Race Red base last Friday. I looked around for a 2dr and lucked out finding this one. It was built 3/14/2022 and delivered to the dealer 4/11. I absolutely love it.
Personally, I’d go with the Black Diamond edition. If I’m buying a Bronco, I would at least want a rear locker. I’ve looked into adding the Sasquatch package to the base model, but the MSRP actually ends up higher than a standard Black Diamond trim. I’m also a big fan of an all vinyl interior, and it allows for the mid level package option to be added. Which at $1800 CDN, provides a lot of creature comforts you’d expect in a 2022 model vehicle.
Great review. I am very fortunate to have just gotten the Green Badlands High edition. I made my decision based on all of your reviews with confidence. Thanks TFL
That color looks phenomenal. I didn't realize the base model was so nice either. Seems like a much better value than a 35K Jeep Wrangler. I would powder coat the steelies white, and do maybe the whole grill, but at least the Bronco lettering white as well to match. I would do a 255/85/16, the pizza cutter look would go with the retro theme of the white lettering and white wheels. And I'm sure somebody will come out with some vintage looking hockey stick stripes for the side to complete the look.
Love that color. You can get a full base model for about 30k. But it would be a 2 door manual with a hard top. I would do the black diamond 2 door personally.
Very smart man and love what he did. Especially for his future plans. Can you imagine what the sticker would have been if ordered with all of the unnecessary bling and fluff?

@@dcar7446 Yeah, I know that. Riding around town he most likely won't have a problem. This issue comes when you air the tires down and do rock crawling, or high-speed turns. Will the bead hold? Maybe, maybe not. It has nothing to do with "rubbing", or lack thereof. This issue is maintaining the bead seal. There are specifications for a reason.
I love the Base model. Only thing that has kept many people moving up the model ladder. Is the fact you cannot get rear locker and only has higher gears... so as u add larger tires the gear ratio gets higher.
10 speed auto easily solves this, just lockout the higher gears. 10 speed has something like a 4.0 first gear ratio, so bottom range spread is fine. On my F150 with the 2.7 and 3.73, 8/9/10 are useless anyways, best mpg is locked into 7th.

They probably liked building it because it doesn’t need very many microchips as there aren’t many options.
That was my first thought when he said how shocked even the dealer was at getting it so fast.
All that extra tech not being there means they can turn these out sooner than their option loaded models.
also it being a soft top, people getting the hard top are waiting a little bit longer too.
Bronco II Dr door rear access w that scissor level release wasent always great for little kids. so much better now.
Thank you for this review. I like it a lot. It would have been nice if TFL did the cheap Bronco overlander similar to the failed LR Defender series. Hopefully there will be a follow up next year to see how his Bronco has evolved.
Because that's what they had at the time they got it.
Base Squatch 4 Door soft top with Aux Switches was my build. So happy with it.
I purposely bought the base model but added the Sasquatch Package that added front and rear lockers, added the mod bumper and the six switches, for a base with wireless Apple car play, power windows it’s a great value at $41275
Not a bad build! I kept my Big Bend build, simple - Signature LEDs, AUX switches, floor mats and in a manual. Came out $36300
I love the idea of the blank canvas! Good job man!!!
I'm Loving the trail turn assist demonstration. I'm wondering if it'll drag the tire on pavement as well?
The system varies the amount of slip based on how much resistance it can feel. Snow, sand etc. It fully locks the wheel. On harder surfaces it will use the ABS to pulse the brakes so they don't lock up completely.
Tell you what, I had a blast with it in the Snow this past Winter with mine...
Pretty fun in the sand too.
Just looked it up. Trail turn assist is available on all automatic transmission Broncos. Dang, got me wanting an automatic now.
As a Jeep owner, it appears you get a lot more with a basic bronco than a basic Jeep. Power windows, locks and mirrors are extra on a Jeep.
Did you find black Dimond take off wheels and tires, my base Bronco look so good with black Dimond wheels and tires, base the best trim for Bronco
Love that color! I wish Ford would offer Eruption Green for some of their other vehicles!
Love to see it on a Tremor with bronze wheels
I would love to see a green interior like back in the day.
$35k is the new cheap? 😒
Ford lists its base model at 28,500 for a 2 dr. A 4 dr is 33,200.
After two years later and 12k miles, my truck went up in price. 🤣
Unfortunately yes, and now with inflation out of control it’s just how it is.
In the grand scheme of Bronco pricing, $35k is at the "cheap" end.
@@app1mxh my co worker has a high end 4dr that went for $55k . She's had offers from people $12k over purchase price. I just don't get it...
Love it! He was lucky to order this last year because today the 4x4 vehicles have increased 10k more
That's the best looking Bronco I've seen. I'd get it in a second!
Yeah this is actually a pretty good deal for a “base model”. A decent amount of amenities standard and having the Ford pass on your phone is an added bonus. Just throw on some beefier tires and this thing has already to go
My order is for a base Bronco in the same color, but it has the manual and only 2 doors.
That's a gorgeous green, your friend made a great choice
Only thing I’d have done differently was get the aux switches from factory and get the manual. Love it though. Love the green.
The basic trim of the Bronco looks so good! Sometimes the basics are the best! This one reminds me a bit of the Lada Niva :D
This guy inadvertently brings up a good point about how dealerships can function as cars start to go electric and thus require less maintenance. Instead of always fixing the car, the dealership can be the place where you get options and accessories added to your car after you purchase it if you want.
Easy to clean interior, that's what I like 👍. That's exactly why I bought a 2021 Colorado WT model. I've already added my own upgrades.
I got a big bend 2 door in manual, only adds are the bumper and bull bar plus I put the Sasquatch tires on the stock wheels. I love it.
I would of added the 2.7 engine for $2000 CAD, but this is solid, good for him.
The Broncos with the soft tops were given priority at the factory due to issues with the hard top supplier.
Looks good, though I'd get it with a manual transmission. Great color!
I ordered a base 2 door 4 cylinder 7 speed manual in race red this past February and my dealer has me locked in at 32k!
Nice 👍
LOL 😆
Assuming they don’t decide to sell it to someone else for more. Good luck!
@@bobcoats2708 I been buying mustangs and Ford trucks from them since 1997, I don't think they would do that to me but you right....you never know.
They had their Demo's already sold with markups of 18 - 20k
New England, Connecticut here...
Ford recently put out a memo stating that they'd shut down any dealership caught price gouging, so hopefully that'll come to a stop soon
@@johnyd1911 that's why Ford is going to end dealerships by cutting out the middleman and sell directly online
@@SaltySeabee Ya, GM who told me I was screwed (by the Owner's) was talking about that.
Exactly what I bought (including the modular bumper) and I couldn’t be happier. I love this truck and looking forward to customizing it to make it mine 👍
THIS is the way to go with the new Bronco! Sometimes the base model is the coolest imo
I ordered my bronco base. 2.3l with only 3 options auxiliary switches, and door key pad and hard top. Can't wait to get my bronco.
The 4 door still proportionally looks werid to me, the 2 door is the only way to the go. But i get the practicality of the 4 door just looks very odd
I drove a Bronco II for many years. I loved it. I’d have to say yes to the 2 door. I love the looks and size of it.
AGREE- two door for me
The guy looks and sounds like Joe pantoliona.
Like the green color and you really do get a lot with the base model. It would be enough for me.
I love how an 8” screen nowadays is considered small😂
I put the engine cover on my 2019 Ranger it really dressed it up. Costs about $120.
yes we need more of these kinds of review...some of us are just normal working people looking for a cool family vehicle
This is way cooler than all the loaded up ones.
I actually like the green a lot. And if you're going to modify it anyway, why buy expensive options that you are just going to remove? It seems pretty well equipped and with all the wiring still there from the higher spec models, you'd be a fool not to buy a base model... 👍🏼👍🏼
I like this guy he’s already thinking of all the custom stuff he’s going to do to it
It has all you need in a car. Good choice. But I’d prefer with the manual. But anyway, great truck.
There are always compromises whenever wife and kids are involved
@@Christoph-sd3zi i dont understand how wife and kids would prevent a manual. My dad had a manual when I was growing up.
Beautiful. I want a base model as well. Those tires are probably better on road for noise and fuel economy, too.
The local dealer had a base 2-door manual delivered for an order the other day when I happened to be there. It was this same green and looked amazing.
I love it. Steelies and a manual would be perfect. Pretty certain the auto is an option too. So two options
The auto actually comes standard on the 4door base for some reason
My dad bought my childhood home in the SF bay area for less than this car. Something is trerribly broken.
I think purchasing the first production line generation is a mistake for any brand new, a lot of recalls come with it.
I went from a 93 Toyota to a 2014 Toyota and I was like wow it’s like the future.
Just a tip, maybe back up to get more footage in the shot next time.
Why are we amazed at a 35K optioned vehicle? It's 35K. That ain't pocket change.
Because many Broncos are $50k-$60k and many are marked up to $80k.
@@TFLoffroad yeah.. I get that, but a base level anything at 35K better come with some nice equipment. My RAV4 Adventure was that price and it is pretty featured.
The average new vehicle price is over $40k.
@@TheCapn23 Thank you…. lol “average” does not mean “base”. Much of that is due to the lack of available base models in the current market.
@@niceguyrides People are buying them. The market and the numbers don't lie. This going for $35k is less than the average new vehicle, hence cheaper.
Cool Bronco!!! For me, the only thing more I'd want would be the rear locking diff.
Just install an ARB electronic locking diff. Too easy.
is that to lock the back?
@@KeelyJanelle It’s to lock the rear axle for traction. Rear locking differential.
@@KeelyJanelle Yes, to lock the rear differential.
It really is nice optioned, but Ford could put leather steering wheel on base one.
Yes....I wanted the MGV seats. No cloth. I love my Black Diamond.
Great review. I am very fortunate to have just gotten the Green Badlands High edition. I made my decision based on all of your reviews with confidence. Thanks TFL
I didn’t hear them say if it has any lockers. Did I miss it?
no lockers...open diffs on base model.
Yep 33's (285/75r16) will fit on it perfectly I'm actually thinking about the base model myself $38k with the V6 then a set of tires and rims will bring it up to about $41k
stock 16s are only 7" wide. BFG recommends minimum 7.5 wheel for 285 tire. While it will no doubt work, it's pushing it.
@@jase9951 it's a RUclipsr put general grabbers 33's(285/75r16) on his base bronco and painted the wheels hard top and grill white says he hasn't had a problem no rubbing issues or anything also it gets full articulation no need for a lift either
