I was a big Motörhead fan and still am to this day. Over 20 years ago I worked with Wurzel for a year in the horticulture trade. I couldn’t believe my luck when he walked through the door on a summers day via an agency. And speaking with him for hours and hearing all his stories where incredible. And finding out what tracks he had personally wrote was great. He was a gent but his partner Jem, was very spiteful and not a very nice person to be around. I truly believe, she see everyone as stupid and that know body could suss her out with how she was. It was all about her and what she could get. And she was a complete snob. I have no doubts she went on at Wurzel to leave Motorhead and the job I shared with him for a year. . RIP Wurzel

I've been with an abusive girlfriend myself. It doesn't take long before they completely control you, I was shocked of my own inability to break out of it, and sadly I had a kid with the c**t, too, which means I have to be in touch with her for at least ten more years. I know what advice I'd give my younger self - vasectomy on my 18th birthday.

Back in 1990 I was a Sergeant in the RAF stationed at RAF Station Hullavington in Wiltshire. RAF personnel are always dreaming of ways to make money for charity as it's good for charities and makes the RAF look good in the community. I was a musician so my idea was to have a music night. I formed a band and we practiced a lot. In the mean time I wrote off to many Rock and Pop stars asking them to donate what they could for prizes on the night. WOW I couldn't believe the response. Phil Collins sent a signed CD. Linda Mcartney sent a Vegetarian cook book and so on. Believe you me we had loads of prizes to give away on the night. Anyway...... 2 days before the show I was on parachute packing floor and one of my guys came up to me and said there's an external call for you. I picked up the phone and this voice said "Hello! you Sgt Clifford " I replied "Yes, what can I do for you?" and the voice said "It's Wurzel from motorhead, if you don't mind me and Gem (Wurzel's Wife) will be pitching up at your music night Gig". Knowing that in the RAF SPOOF'S are not uncommon so I said "See you on the night then" and put the phone down. Well on the night of the Gig, I got a message from the guardroom to say that I needed to go there to escort two people onto the station to the venue. Bloody Hell, it really was Wurzel and Gem and he'd brought his guitar too. Hullavington was parachute packing unit for Airborne forces and Special forces and Gem was actually wearing a ONESY made from a Parachute fabric. Wurzel brought loads of "Gizzits" like baseball caps touring jackets etc etc. When my band actually played, Wurzel jammed with us and we had a night to remember. A video was made of the evening but it got passed from pillar to post and some one lost it what a shame. It's worth mentioning that Gem's Dad was an RAF Pilot who flew out of RAF Hullavington in WWII. RIP Mate

I did recall an interview with Lemmy, who said that allegedly Wurzel's wife was getting in Wurzel's ear about how he should have also been invited onto a T.V. show where Lemmy was performing Ace of Spades. But as Lemmy said himself, Wurzel didn't co write or originally play on it anyway.

Mikkey is probably right about Wurzel, but... Why Motorhead after that continued as a trio? The sacrifice album i'd say is one of the finest from Motorhead. Recently i Listened to a later album - the "inferno". It gave me memories back to the 4-line up because the album was recorded with 2 guitars - Phil playing both of them. Inferno is also very good one.

I absolutely LOVED Wurzel for being in Motorhead. That damn smile of his, right?!!! And UNDERRATED as a guitarist. Absolutely cleaned the clocks of anyone during his tenure spent with Motorhead. He and Phil Campbell were a perfect match as a duo, and they shredded eardrums perfectly as a team. And the reason why Gem was that way is probably due to the fact that she's a narcissist. Can't change people like that. Unfortunately, they hurt everyone and everything around them... Rest In Peace Mick Burston. We'll NEVER stop hearing your notes ♠️

Yes and no, there's a specific kind of "woman" who views anything that her husband enjoys as a threat. They're generally the type of person who appears to be "larger than life" but the reality is that they're consumed by self doubt and loathing and as such they see the husband in their element, fulfilled and happy and their reasoning instantly pings to "he enjoys X more than he enjoys being with me, he may *choose* X over me" and as such to maintain the confidence boost and desire for control they feel, whatever X is, has to go.
And for the record this manner of thinking does exist in both sexes, you're just generally speaking more likely to encounter it with women.
For example I have encountered it in my own life, my best friend from childhood got ensnared by one of them. A monsterously obese woman he met online. The two were engaged in a long term, long distance relationship during which they decided to get married, for which I was asked to be his best man. However before the wedding came to fruition, she managed to convince him to move in with her. And in the timespan of his moving and the wedding itself we had gone from talking everyday and my being the best man to absolutely zero contact (not only affecting me but his entire friend group down here) and not even being invited to the wedding. Didn't even know that it has taken place till months afterwards.
I just hope that he is actually happy, but my fear is that she's expertly exploiting his insecurities (very low self confidence, something that I helped him with massively over the years and very likely the fear that he would never find anyone else) to keep him attached to her.
Sorry for the massive comment guys, got carried away.

As with any marriage, if you truly love someone, you will support and encourage him/her to follow their heart and do what makes them the happiest, and with most musicians, it's sharing the creative process with their bandmates. Musician work and life is time consuming and demanding, especially when they have been world famous chart toppers for decades. They're never going to be traditional 9 - 5 house husbands, and if you try to push them into that corner you'll kill their spirit, the thing that makes them them. At that point, the other band members lose, but the fan lose more.
