@@swanero Do you mean the intercooler? Some people like it that way, I have the same ETS front mount on my evo and I love the silver look with the brand
PRO TIP: When putting pop-rivets in soft material (like plastic or fiberglass), it's a good idea to put a washer on the backside. That gives the rivet something to grab onto. Otherwise, the rivet can work itself loose.
Is anyone else curious why the cutting and fitting of the fenders wasn't done prior to paint? I'm not the most knowledable about this, but I would think that would be the best method. Make mods before you paint.
Idealy yes but considering the parts arent made of steel and wont rust it wont be a issue, this would be an issue with steel parts as they rust if exposed to the elements without paint. Though I imagine the real reason behind why they didnt do it is simply due to time, maybe it was faster to do it that way. Ben is willing to pay alot of money to get the build up on going, and time is money.

I had to drill and zip tie my undertray on the side of the freeway one day. I was holding the 2 pieces together and because of the angle that I was having to drill at when the drill bit pushed through it went into my finger 😬 luckily it just barely made a mark into the meat of my fingerprint so a couple days later I was good to go 👍

I can't believe how much of a difference those fender blades made! Evo X would make for a fun daily driver, but i feel they often get overbuilt for that. You brought this one back, and it looks so much more enjoyable 🤙
The rarity of the evos are something special. They’re discontinued too. Some people may not care at all, but it’s always a special moment when I see an evo rolling by. It’s kinda like seeing a Ferrari or something.

I suppose it's not really a personal build they'll be holding on to, so it matters less.

One thing that definitely shows to modified car is how the age pretty quickly, you can definitely tell how a car ages especially on the period of the mods released for them and you'll need to update them once in a while, I think that is the reason why most cars neve stop evolving, it changes also as time passes by, it also goes whats on trend. A guy in a forum I used to frequent was chasing an intermittent power drain on a friends car. By accident, he found that it was a wire inside one of the door harnesses that only grounded out when the window was lowered on that door - the window was pushing the slightly frayed wire against the door panel. Grounds can be pretty crazy to trace out. Always good to take your time and check *everything*

Gotta say, that Evo X is a masterclass of design and the perfect balance. Nice job! I don't usually like wide body kits (#stockbody4life) but you pulled it off, and that mod you did for the front fenders was GENIUS! Sad to see the Evo X series done, but glad you got it to the best place it could be.

Great looking car! 2 tips: test fit/install before paint, and also when riveting to plastic, make sure to theft proof by using a fender washer on the backside that the rivet fits into when riveting. This will keep the canard from being easily torn out of the bumper. Love the channel. Keep at it!
@@GearsandGasoline oh no i mean present everything drill the holes disassemble and then paint it. I agree all bolted on wouldnt be good for painting it. It just hurts drilling into the fresh paint when it could be done before. It came out great regardless!!

When drilling in paint, put a piece of masking tape over both entry and exit points. The tape prevents the paint from chipping and gives you a good surface to mark where to drill.
I agree with you. Coolest looking EVO 10 I have ever seen.

Maybe it would be nice to put clear PPF wrap on carbon elements to keep them nicer looking longer. Maybe even whole front with fenders to protect all of it from rocks.
love these videos. those carbon canards could have been saved like refinished to save some money. if they are just faded, just a nice fine sanding, polish and sealant would make them new again
Hey Ben, I know you put a lot of money, effort, and time into your builds, do you use a dash cam in any of them? If so which one would you trust? (I'm shopping for one) Also why not ppf the fenders of you're worried about rocks from the wheels?
In a future episode you should race it against the Track built EVO your mate used to take it across America while you drove the Tesla. While obviously you would lose, the difference would be interesting.
Only thing I would have done with all the new carbon bits is hit them with a better more UV resistant clear. I know the guys at Street Bandito cover this really well in one of their many carbon everything vids
