Nice J's.
instructions unclear, now im stuck on an island with a polar bear and a gnarly mecanical ghost smoke after playing those lottery numbers
@southerndime333 I've got some bad news for you
that was SUCH a GREAT REACTION!!! - AND for such a BEAUTIFUL table!!! I'm jealous!!! :)
Glad that little fire STAYED little... and HOPEFULLY those new cameras don't catch anything TOO exciting :)
Why do you keep changing the title and thumbnail? 😡 Stop trying to game the stupid system
Dude your parents are incredible! Honestly, from your mom's honest "where are we moving this to", so keen to help, to their genuine and sincere appreciation of the piece, it's fantastic!
They are! I'm very thankful for them.
The new dust extractor looks great
I think the not catching fire feature is a good selling point
It's pretty much top of my list with everything I buy....except for fireplace logs.
Fire was the first step of technology for man!
@@jonothandoeser Some people are just so eager to forget and do not appreciate it enough!
The same thing happened at my elementary school once. A dull cutting surface that burned the wood. In your case, dust was getting stuck, and friction helped with the rest.
Biggest smile on my face when your mom goes "oh, it's BEAUTIFUL", nothing better then your parents (or anyone's) genuine appreciation of your time. You can tell your parents are proud, I hope to be able to build my mom a table like this one day.
"Dimes to doughnuts" was "Dollars to doughnuts" when I grew up in midwest in the 60's. The doughnuts referenced were not the tasty treats but rather proxy for zero, the number, as a doughnut looks like a zero.
Fantastic build. I am glad your folks liked it.
Same "dollars to donuts" in Ontario.
Dollars to doughnuts in Texas and New Mexico, too.
Yeah the original phrase is "Dollars to Doughnuts." Never heard the dimes thing.
The Daily Nevada State Journal, February 1876:
"Whenever you hear any resident of a community attempting to decry the local paper... it's dollars to doughnuts that such a person is either mad at the editor or is owing the office for subscription or advertising."
Same. All my life, dollars to doughnuts! :)
I grew up in the Detroit area in the late 60's and early 70's and we called it (and I still do) dollars to donuts.
Love seeing your sense of humor pop in throughout. The last frame almost made me spit-take lol. I see you put the same amount of craft into your photoshopping as you do your woodworking
I've been photoshopping for longer for sure :)
Agreed with this comment. The last shop is a keeper !
Internet approved photoshopping. 👍
heads I win....tails, you lose???
My favorite kinda coin flip
Lol 😂
That’s what she said
Metric users always get confused, haha!
@@ardwg_don't forget to carry the twelve.
I'm literally just a 19 yr old teenage girl, going through life, i don't even know anything about being a wood worker, and i have no interest in being one, but your videos appeared in my recommended and i binge watch all types of different wood working videos, and whenever i watch your videos, i just love the effort you put into them, your voice, your work, how sincere you sound, everything. I enjoy it very much and i enjoy watching this craft even though wood working is something i never want to do lol
you say 19 and I'm 42 and in Africa I relate to everything you said imagine. i find myself binge watching these likewise
everything was worth it to see that reaction and put a smile on their faces. Even i feel so proud seeing this video i cant imagine how proud they must be. wish i could make something like this for my parents, maybe someday. Thank you for this wholesome but very educating video.
Thank you...yeah. They are really happy with it. I think I'll actually get it taken over to their house later today :)
I just wanted to say, after watching some other woodworkers on RUclips, I really appreciate your honesty and your modesty. You have an excellent eye and from my unexperienced eye, great technique. Your doing great!
Thank you...appreciate that.
Your mom looked really happy. Your dad looked like he was thinking ( great more wood furniture )
haha...he'll be relieved to know there's a good amount of epoxy in there too :)
Just wanted to say I really enjoy the general ✨vibe✨ of your videos. I appreciate the calm narration and the dry humor and your uploads always make me smile. To be good at either woodworking *or* videography would be one thing, but to be good at both is rare and impressive!
Brought my first furniture piece home today, got started with woodworking based on your videos. A shame you’ll never be able to truly grasp how many people you have inspired.
That is awesome! As long as I keep hearing from people like you...I'll assume it's going well with that respect :)
I just finished my first piece of furniture for my son, thanks to your videos and some other woodworkers. It made me realise how skilled you're and how much progress I've to do to produce half as good furnitures as you do....
Thank you. It is definitely a labor of love. It's a ton of work...and the only way to get through it is to actually love it :)
I'm 67 and have made a living working with wood all my life. I have a mahogany lap desk, with a secret compartment, that my granddad (furniture maker) made for my grandmother. It was the last thing he made before going off to die in WW2. Make things. Pass them on. When your son goes off to college, or travelling or whatever when he's young, offer to store that piece you made for him. Give it back to him later in his life and maybe he will pass it on one day. One thing that you make, no matter how you think it turned out, means more than a million factory made pieces of junk. Good luck with your journey and have fun!
You have great parents. Enjoy them as long as you can. There are no re-do’s in life, and they love you! Your a great son!
Love the “LOST” reference. Also really enjoyed this video and build. Nice work Chris!
Glad you liked it!
Just when I thought I was tired of slab epoxy river tables, you had to go and ace it. Well, done sir. Totes jelly. Love your cadence, thoughtfulness, and skills.
Epoxy Tables aren't bad...just a lot of the people who make them don't do them justice. : )
@@Foureyes.Furniture
AGREED 👍👍
Just a great video, and a lovely thing to do for your parents. The table is beautiful and I’m sure they are very proud of you.
Thank you so much, Chris, for including clips of when things don’t go as planned. I’m still learning, and it gives me hope that I can create beautiful pieces, even if I flub things sometimes.
Aww! What a great compliment from your parents!
For the measurement debate, I love the metric system. I didn't realize that 1cm^3 is 1 ml. There's no equivalent in imperial. I started using it more with my 3D printer and started liking it more. I also actively use the imperial system daily as well with things like cooking, weight, height of a person, and lumber
Another cool thing is that it takes 1 calorie of energy to warm 1cm³ of water (which weighs 1 gram) up 1 degree Celsius :)
I’ve always heard “Dollars for donuts”. Love your sense of humor. Laughed out loud several times, and of course your skill is amazing!
I was relieved when you stated that you were going to apologize for something you said at the beginning of the video but I thought the apology was due to someone else. Your child. You said that you’re an ok dad but a great son. That statement stuck with me thru the whole video. Why is being a great son more important than being the BEST dad?
Your dad looks like Angela’s dad from bones! Looks beautiful! I’m glad they love it!
Their reaction is priceless but that edited photo at the end is even more priceless 😂😂❤❤❤
Always good to see another foureyes video come out. Great work Chris! I hope Shaun is doing well
I loved the round top corners with that large radius
That's a great way to honor your parents! They have raised a good man👍 Blessings to your entire family🙏
So sweet!! Beautiful build and loved their reaction :)
I love your work! The pic of your parents at the end actually made me laugh out loud :)
Thank you for another awesome video and great build! The table turned out quite beautiful and I love the solution you came up with for the legs.
How lovely, your mum's reaction was so sweet.
In the end it all makes it worth it for that wholesome reaction.. The look on her face after she asked “my house?” You could tell she was so excited.
The end though when you’re like “I built all that stuff!” 🤣😂🤣
Absolutely awesome when you’re able to do things like this for the parents.
Hope you enjoy your weekend!!!
Thanks Justin...appreciate it. Enjoy yours as well :)
😂 the crippling social anxiety line! what a gem 💎
I feel embarrassed even ordering a pizza.
Whata wonderful gift. Stunning piece of furniture.
Im sad i missed the notification on this one a month ago. Likely my favorite vid thus far. Love having The 'rents being the stars of the show!
Hey Chris, on behalf of the rest of the world: metric please!!! 🎉🎉 Beautiful table btw ❤
Thanks you and note taken :)
On behalf of the best of the world, forget about that weak metric nonsense used in countries that wish they were the U.S.
I'm from Ireland and my father is a carpenter. We use Metric here, but I grew up using Imperial because that's what carpenters and some other trades use. I'm currently a welder/fabricator and back to using Metric and I can say there is definitely a time and place for both. Imperial is much easier to fathom and remember while working but I need to keep running back and forth to my measurements to make sure I'm cutting the right millimetre. And when we buy timber it's in inches. Steel is by mm.
Interesting. I guess there is a place for both. I'm honestly fine with either. If you told me one was going to completely disappear, I wouldn't stress about it. I can adapt.
Wow. Thanks for sharing that experience with the dust collector. My dad and uncle told me to be careful with dust collection and ignition sources, but I until now, I have never seen anything get crazy. I know in milling explosion risk with dust is a big issue.
I really like your style of furniture design. Every time I see one of your video thumbnails, I can just tell it was yours before seeing your name next to the video based on the style. So awesome. Keep making cool stuff I thoroughly enjoy your builds.
You are a good son. It’s a privilege to build something like that for your folks.
That last clip got me wheezing good job on the table and the video you have earned my like!
That is a beautiful piece.
Beautiful. Great build. You my friend have a heart of gold. Your parents must be proud.❤
Have a great weekend!!!😎
The "Thanks Hun" note was great 😂😂😂
Love how you don’t take yourself seriously. Your folks are precious. The table was awesome. ✊🏼
Time for a set of screw extractors... and maybe some ceiling hung extension cords! Love the work and the story as per usual.
I had a similar dust issue with my CNC.
Being in sunny Sydney Australia, I usually just push all of my dusty woodworking operations out onto the driveway and enjoy the sunshine whilest blessing the neighbours with my dust. This keeps my garage clean and dust free 🙂.
However, I have a CNC that I built and this beast of a thing generally stays put, so it has a shopvac/cyclone and I duct the waste air outside.
One day I was doing a really lengthy operation on some MDF and left the CNC unattended (we both know how bad an idea this is).
When the noise stopped, I came back into the garage and there was dust everywhere - piled up is little snow drifts in the corners, against everything and on everything 🥺.
It seems that some material broke free and was sucked up into the cyclone, which then blocked and sent the dust to the shopvac, which quickly gave up and blocked and somehow forced off the vent hose - at which point buckets and buckets of MDF dust swirled around everywhere.
As a 67 year old life-long cabinetmaker/yacht joiner/furniture maker, I agree with you. You are a good son. And an excellent woodworker too. And lucky to have those parents. Thanks for your channel.
this was worth watching for the comedic value alone. the last shot of your parents almost made me spit my coffee out.
your commentary was (how we say in Australia) piss funny.
Throwing the numbers from LOST in there earned you a subscriber.
Amazing video as always! Just wanted to pop in and say that a workshop your and maybe an in depth series showing off the workshop would be really cool. Getting into your work benches, the CNC, dust collection, etc, etc.
Great looking table! Also loved the Lost reference with the numbers.
That might be the most stunning looking wood i have ever seen! Love it, beautiful table by the way!
That was an awesome build and a wonderful gift to your parents.
Ive had a similar experience with a fire in a dust extractor. It was caused by a tiny shard of metal that may have been in the timber, entering the fan and sparking. Fine sawdust is extremely flammable, as you know.
This is so wholesome, definitely need to do something with my hands in the future🙏thank you for inspiring
Been watching your channel for some time and want to say that your gift to your parents are what it is all about. Also it is captivating listening to your humor and sarcastic dry jokes that keep me laughing and think the younger generation has a chance to make this world a better place.
A gorgeous table that anyone would be blessed to have in their home. Lucky parents !
Beautiful table, Chris. It's wonderful that you are able to do something like this for your parents (and actually do).
Bill
Brilliant. Beautiful table, lovely parents. I think they'll enjoy that every day and be rightly proud of you.
Metric for science, and does it really matter for anything else. For furniture, it needs to be functional and beautiful. Your table fits that criteria. Stunning. So glad that you and your shop are okay, and thank you for sharing the moment with your parents. I do hope that Ikea heard you.
Good points and good comments all around :)
Great video, thank you for sharing. The table turned out beautifully and your parents are wonderful.
5:21 really appreciated to include the metric system 👍
Probably the best outro to one of your videos you've ever done! 👍👍 Reminds me of the joy I get when I make things for my parents, except despite over 30 years of experience with computers, I still can not come close to the expert photo manipulation you did for you parents! BRAVO!!!!!
The table looks amazing as usual. Oh and for the record, not every dad over 50 is gung ho on rounded corners so please keep up the beautiful and creative furniture designs.
I appreciate the sports references subtley hidden in the lotto numbers. Well played.
Your sense of humor is just off the charts. Great piece!
Great work - always a pleasure watching your videos
What an amazing build! I love your Mechanical Pencil
The best video so far ... simply because it means something ! Thanks
What a nice episode. Congrats on the great privilege of having the skill and the opportunity to build such a beautiful gift for your folks.
Absolutely cracking table 👍🏴
Loved that story ❤ it gave me the idea to give a nice present to my mum :)
Thank you 🙏
Table turned out amazing looks beautiful great job. It was cool to see the look on your parents faces when you told them it was theirs that was very cool great surprise.👏👏
Aww! All the feels, at the end there ❤
i would hope everyone knows that screws are used to hold it tight until the glue cures! great build again. I build and install railings and stairs. use to be a trimmer but got bored. but wanted to build furniture originally (highschool). your videos are convincing me to move on again! Happy building!
1:37 the modern machinery that we have is CRAZY cool. Think about tall the engineering that went into creating/making something like a giant slab rotator.
The hair and make up at the end was pretty savage 🤣 amazing work brother
That final mom and dad transformation just cracked me up
Great work! Looked awesome.
FYI, crystalized epoxy is because at some stage it got cold, you need to warm it in a hot water bath, about 60°C and it will dissolve back to normal.
Haha amazing I loved the editing at the end, what a lovely present for your parents!
don't ever die man, please... love your work!
Another epic build video filled with the delightful combo of snark and heart-of-gold in your narration I've come to eagerly anticipate when you drop a video. I'm so glad your parents liked their new table and your shop wasn't harmed by the fire!
I like both systems I use what I grew up with for most lumber and I use metric for small stuff electronics etc.
amazing job! (as usual)
The metric system helps a lot for people from other parts of the world (like me)
Enjoyed this video! Beautiful coffee table!
I have enjoyed your stylish wood furniture, your dead pan humorous delivery and your blunt honesty. I loved the segment with your folks and that photoshopped pic at the end was GOLD! I look forward to another entertaining video.
beautiful table. you are a great designer and builder.
Hilarious final image. You're gifted my friend. You've developed a rare and valuable skill through determination, grit, and effort. AND You've got a great base from which you've sprung. Your parents seem truly genuine and cute and parental (in the best way!).
Not everyone is so gifted. Thank you for sharing your gifts so the rest of us less gifted, may live vicariously!
Watching from the Philippines. I love your art and I prefer the metric system when it comes to measurement. Thanks
im only 55 sec in and already you remind me why i love your channel. Your great god bless you sir!!! Soon i hope to have the ability to order form you
Hands down, this was by far one of the BEST videos you have ever made.... thanks.
Out of all the voice overs on RUclips yours is the only one I really listen to and of course you did another great build it looks great
Beautiful desk! I love the vibe it transfers to the viewer.
Really good video. Feel like you’ve stepped up the presenting game, and I would love to have a table that nice one day
That was a very nice gift. Loved the ending with your parents make over.
LAST PIC EDIT WAS EPIC!...LOVED IT..HILARIOUS!
Absolutely beautiful!
The art comes in when you match grain and shadow casting 😮
Thank you for sharing with us, another inspiring piece!
