It is very jazzy that you were able to put into words what I've been struggling to explain to people in my life for so long! When you said "I'm not a wood-worker, I'm a maker," it really resonated with my own journey. Now wood isn't my medium (which is why it is so thrilling to watch people like you take a literal tree and turn it into something so beautiful) but I just love making things and really resist the urge people have to label it. I just love to make and to learn all sorts of new skills that come in handy in all sorts of amazing and unexpected ways. Thank you Jonny for bringing so much beauty and happiness into the world!

Good to see other LEO's doing woodworking. Woodworking has kept me sane over my career of 25 years and counting. When I retire in the near future, my goal is to open my shop and mentor current and former first responders with PTSD in woodworking. Great build. God Bless.

Jazzy. Three things I've learned: 1)Slow leads to smooth, and smooth leads to fast. 2) The more I hurry, the more time I lose screwing up. 3) Knowing when it's good enough, and being willing to stop there, is better than trying to make it perfect. Every time I apply these principles to a task or project, it succeeds -- eventually.

Man, I am a teacher that has left teaching due to the current dilemma of education. Insert your own beliefs here. I probably agree with you and if I don't that is okay! My father, stepfather and I worked with our hands and built/fixed stuff ourselves as we didn't have a lot of money. I had no idea what I was going to do and you sir have given me something to build, pun intended. I love building things and am from what I gather not a people person, according to my wife, ha! I think I will make some chairs and etc., etc. and sell them. I live in Texas and a lot of people love the rustic farm house thing. Thanks so much for what you do!

I love how you explained welding as a welder i think you explained it well. I love wood working welding and anything arty. Welding is actually very easy to learn for anyone but not a lot of people love working with hot slag. The hardest welds are yhe most fun including overhead, vertical, and brother in law pipe welding. Each weld is always unique and even if it looks bad at least you tried and you can always learn better techniques for better welding.

I absolutely love how you go from using a CNC router to a draw knife, back to a track saw and then a hand plane. (Not exactly that order but you get what I mean) Just getting the best tool for the job you're about to do. That really is my style too. Many times, nothing beats a hand plane. But I wouldn't start any project without my circular saw.

I suggest you consider coffee and roasted barley as wood dyes.String instruments are traditionally dyed in this manner. If you want to make the tint more light resistant, add 5% ammonia to the water mixture. The final hue will depend on the roasting level. You can algo add 10% oil for a more nourishing emulsion.

    Jazzy! 🥂
The only thing I worry about are the very cool, decorative sharp points sticking out from the legs. Babies crawl around and under everything, often at a shocking pace while playing with papa. I can see her getting going faster than she can stop herself and smacking her head/mouth/eyeball on one. Maybe you can make some bumpers for those spots to protect baby faces until that stage has passed.
Beautiful!! Happy Mother's Day to y'all!
