- I rescued this rotten live edge slab with epoxy resin, and carved a unique texture in the epoxy to create a really beautiful live edge table. I power carved the underside of the epoxy resin to create a unique epoxy texture. Thanks to MANSCAPED for sponsoring today’s video! my guess for what happened with the weird stain is some oils got spilled on it at some point (maybe when it was cut fresh) and it was so deeply imbedded it just came up. that or natural oils from the pecan wood.
thanks I hate it. the gold legs with the crystal rock effect is ugly.
would have been nicer with a more red dye on the legs, and use a blue dye in the epoxy rather than black, its too cloudy and dark
The table legs not match the same style
Dang. I almost want to grow a beard again after your add... lol
Can you spell out the Instagram account you follow that inspired you?
“im so glad I had an epoxy room free of the dust of my shop.”
*proceeds to sand an entire slab in the epoxy room*
I honestly think you should call this table pecan pi, such a good name. Also I was blown away with how you salvaged that slab, amazing job bro
Lame
He did a shit job
PECAN PI! This table turned out incredibly awesome! The carving on the bottom is so beautiful! I think it's my favorite table you've ever made!
Too high humidity or oil on the surface of the wood could cause the waviness. Since it was so spongey, maybe the oils from your hand stuck around 🤷♀️ I can't imagine it being that humid in your shop
My guess was there was bug(s) that dried up and died inside the wood. The high temperature of the epoxy freed the oils, and they floated to the surface.
PECAN PI. I look forward to your videos every week, and I also think this is my most favorite table I've ever seen. We are proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone in order to grow and provide us with awesome content and merchandise. Keep up the outstanding work.
Love the way you took a deep breath when opening the box to reveal what was essentially very expensive firewood.
But isn't that always the best way motivate your brain cells to come up with a solution.
The workmanship dictates to outcome, and boy you nailed it👍👍👍👍👍
the table is stunning. love the risk you took adding the texture. it's def a show piece for any office or dining space!!
It's always a tragedy when a tree dies. Making sure as little of its body as possible goes to waste is part of respecting its sacrifice. Beautiful table!
What an odd thing to say.
How is it a tragedy, and how has the tree made a sacrifice?
Plants live and die. It's not a tragedy, it's just nature.
@@incumbentvinyl9291 Those trees gave their lives so that you could have FREEDOM. You need to honour their sacrifice, son. Stop disrespecting the flag.
@@timbirch4999 Do you have a source for that?
I do not, and will not. Wood is a source of fuel for me. It's also a building material, I used some to repair my dock mere hours ago.
What flag? Are you drunk or high?
This is also one of my favourite items to date. Pushing your skills to another level again! Congratulations on not only saving this Pecan wood but turning it into a work of art that will I am sure become a family heirloom for generations to come. ❤
I can't say I love that texture in the epoxy. I think you did an awesome job. And it looks like you executed your vision extremely well. But that wood has such interesting visuals already, it seems like the busyness of the epoxy detracts from it.
Amazing job, as usual.
Same with the gold colored legs. All the additional stuff just detracts from that beautiful spalted slab.
I really didn't know what to expect when you started power carving out the bottom, but it turned out really well. Thanks for the content.
PECAN PI. Man I wish I had a beauty in my home like this!
Great work as always Jonny Builds. I love watching you project videos.
Talk about saving a piece of wood fr3om the brink of the burn pile. If ever this applied to a timber slab it is this one. I love the way you jumped right into it & set about salvaging the unsalvagable. I am also very impressed with the 'carving down under'. This was a master stroke & went a long way to producing a TOP CLASS table from nothing. WELL DONE. Cheers, Don from South Australia.
I think I agree you, the most beautiful table ever. The embossed epoxy looks like a river bed.Fantabulous!
The carved texture was brilliant. it really does look like a rock table. The shape of the legs remind me of the sign of pisces, as this is my own star sign. Your work is amazing!
I've seen a lot of these types of tables, but this is by far my favorite with that carving underneath you did..absolutely beautious
Absolutely gorgeous. And I love the base. The carving is the first time I've seen a design like that. Great job.
This turned out just beautiful! I wasn't sure on the textured cell thing underneath, but wow! Great job Jonny! Thanks for sharing this video.
Excellent video as always. It's nice to see the challenges you go through when building a table, and how you overcome them.
That actually looks good. And it's not just some one dumping epoxy on a piece of wood. It shows the artistic abilities of it. And more thought put into it
Pecan Pi! Great build!!! I was so not sure where you were going with the scallops on the bottom, but they look great!!! Love to see a fellow OKC guy doing well!
I absolutely love that carving detail underneath!!!!
I love it! Looks like those pockets that show up in thin ice where a puddle froze.
Loved the carved out 'scallops' which once filled and the colours, look like enlongated crocodile/alligator scaling.
The gold stand looks good, and I think a deep dark rich black would have "maybe" been a tad better, but hey, I am just an 'armchair' expert.
Fantastic job resurrecting that slab of timber, brilliant.
Pecan Pi- love your videos. Highlight of my week. Love the divot carving and epoxy look. Creative
Absolutely love the table. It’s amazing to see others thought processes to create such wonderful artistic pieces of furniture. Would love to own something like this one day. ❤
Perhaps you'd like to buy it then? Go on.
Pecan Pi. I really like the gold legs. The table came out great!!!
This table turned out so cool, I really love the design you carved into the underside of the epoxy. So cool.
Pecan Pi. That did turn out awesome. Loved the underside.
I love it. The carving is so cool. Do more of it on other builds.
Earth Vader at 20:18. Table looks amazing
Dang autocorrect
"This". Great work Jonny. Yeah man! Go for it! Experimentation is a great way to live!
This is an amazing transformation from firewood to bespoke/artifical furniture. Major props!
WOW Jonny!! Probably the coolest table I've seen you build!!
i really love this! the scallops look like creek pebbles...i'm glad you were able to save this because it is beautiful ❤
I have no words…. Simply amazing man!!….. I’m envious of your talent!
The marcasite colored cells are super cool, and very pretty. Glad you were inspired because it came out great!
The “it wasn’t” and “I can’t” got me. Lol… 😂😂😂
Wow, amazing work and such a beautiful result!
pecan pi!!!
I loved the whole process. I learn so much from all the descriptions and video documentary. :D
Very Nice...The gold paint with the grain still showing was a very nice touch.
Love the end results ... great job!!!
PECAN PI this was a cool build! Interesting to see you adapt to the change of wood and the awkward circumstances with the condition of the material.
Pecan Pi!! Great work Johnny, love watching all your builds!!
Turned out beautiful!!
Unbelievable! A zillion adjectives! Phenomenal!
That's a freaking awesome piece. Also loved the new ink throughout this video!!!
Pecan pie. Absolutely beautiful. I love it wish I could buy it. If only I had a home to put it in. I live in a retirement home.
Great build, thanks for showing the fixes during the build. Enjoy the content, keep up the great work! Wil
Wow that is really a beautiful table and the carving you did at the bottom that made those scallops that is next level I really like that you should definitely continue to do that
I absolutely love this. Wish I could afford to buy. Please make these types of textured tables again!!! Omg I so wish I could buy this!!
That turned out stunning 😍
Beautiful. I just love that table.
Pecan Pi! Loved the texture!
Texture is awesome!!! never seen anything like it
Haha! “Pecan Pi”! Good one! The table top is Awesome!!! Love the texture look.
Awesome! Carving look is Great! Keep going.
Pecan Pi, your Easter egg is at 18:28, that office guy 🙈😂 Dwight? Love the table and all your videos xxx HI from Cape Town, South Africa
What a great way of saving the wood! Absolutely great table!😃👍
This turned out amazing! Such a cool effect and beautiful build!
Thanks!!
That is super interesting. Normally I would prefer the black epoxy, but this is unique. It's growing on me. Cool project
I make epoxy floorings for a living. From my experience whenever i had some kinds of wavey textures it was because of moist or greasy surface. 2nd option can also be that the wood is still sucking up the epoxy while in the drying/reacting process. When some areas of the wood are still more denser than rotting parts, it means that different areas suck up more or less epoxy than the healthy denser areas. (Sorry for bad explanation, im not English)
Amazing work, Jonny! It really turned out fantastic! Well done!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Not seen the carving technique before. I really enjoy it. Nice work
What a beautiful design.👍👍
Pecan pi - nice name. Excellent work.
That is one crazy build, and it came out beautifully.
Undeniably gorgeous😍😍
I think it is a beautiful piece of work. Great job. I enjoy watching your videos, I find it very relaxing. Thank you.
Pecan Pi is so yummy! Great table build and thank you for sharing.
Pecan pie is wonderful. You might want to explore using thickened epoxy resin to fill small bug holes, etc before the flood coat. Ahron African meat uses it on small turnings if you need a visual.
WOW! that is beautiful!
So pro, so beautiful !!!
Beautiful table, the texture is really nice 👌
Absolutely love the table
PECAN PI! This is a beautiful table. I have never seen the carved effect before but I love it!!
wow... where to start? Fantastic save! Awesome table with lots of learning moments LOL, Love the carving with KutzAll. Thanks for showing the YT world what you can do!
Looks fantastic
Man, I think those carvings are really interesting effect!
Pecan Pi! Easter egg @14.27 "Epoxy is saving the planet" Great build mate!
Absolutely Beautiful
Love the table top. It's gorgeous. I think the base is way to bulky for how elegant the top is but that's just preference. It's beautiful
I really like the surfaces you cut on the bottom. They look almost like snake skin from the top. Very cool.
I love the carved textures! It reminds me of the shadows you see looking into a pool when the sun's out.
*sun is
Buy it then. It's still available, and on sale.
I really enjoy these videos, partly because I like watching people making things but mostly because it's always a learning experience even if it's not first hand.
That said, the struggle with this slab hits home with me right now. I'm trying to salvage a piece of black walnut I will hopefully make into a desk for my office but 2 days into it my confidence is running on empty. Here's to not giving up, also great job! Oh, pecan pi!
Wow that's awesome it looks amazing you did good for that piece of wood.
Pecan pi. Looks awesome! That texture looks great definitely something different
there Dwight from the Office at 18:28
Winner. Email me at jonnybuildsstuff@gmail.com
LOVE YOU TOO, JOHNNY! FAB TABLE!! LOVE IT!!!!
Pecan Pi
Let’s “Wing It” - 15:36
Love the videos, all the way from Brisbane, Australia.
And OMG, the scalloping on the underside of this table looks amazing from the top.
this table is beautiful!!!
Just over from Cam’s channel and looking forward to checking out your videos.
Well done! Great Saturday morning entertainment, can tell you really did wing it in places, I’m a huge fan of that kind of bravery in creative efforts, and it looks like it paid off here. Looks like you have some other great slabs for future videos as well. I will follow.
Table legs look great, they remind me of green lanterns simple, just needs the circle in the middle. Love the videos.👍👍👍👍
Beautiful "Spalted?” Pecan! I love it! 🙏💕
Pecan Pi - gorgeous colorations!
holy cow, the sheer amount of epoxy used along with the amount that was just flooded off of it was insane
Cam sent me your way from the stair project… gold was a good choice. I like the butterscotch flavor which seems to suit pecan. Scale texture was interesting and different. Not a real fan of epoxy but I like this. Subscribed and will be following… inspiration and soul food for a garage based amateur!
Great looking table! My son has me into epoxy pours now, he's just finished pouring a spalted maple dresser top (he's refinishing his furniture) and it's just beautiful. I'm now planning on making a top for an old trundle sewing machine that belonged to my grandmother, as a b/day gift for my sis. Cruising for ideas, and I like what you did with the cell structure below. Oh, BTW, the egg is during the manscaping break, and it's a head with a dark brown beard! Lmao! Keep it up!
Ok, that textured stuff looks pretty badass, despite being epoxy. Nicely done.
