    I think this is the first do's and don'ts tutorial I've ever seen where the don'ts side doesn't look like they did their eye makeup using their foot. Wonderful example!!

  • @kiittency
    @kiittency 7 лет назад +710

    I noticed that the "don't" side lifts up your eyes and the "do's" side elongates your eye. It's just your personal preference really 😜

    • @AngelHernandez-mn5zh
      @AngelHernandez-mn5zh 7 лет назад +69

      redcurlyfries Exactly. Her "don't " eye looks better in my opinion. It's seems more wide open and the "do" eye looks droopy and less open.

    Thank you so much for this! I am 33 and literally just (today) realised that my hooded eyes are why makeup tutorials never seem to work on me. All this time I thought I was just terrible at makeup but today I tried using these tips and I am blown away by how different my eyes look now!! THANK YOU. Honestly, I had all but given up on makeup but this has made me feel like I can have fun with it again! x

    Best freakin' video for hooded eyes ever!! Seriously, I have been practicing your suggestions and I cannot tell you how much I am loving my eyes again. I'm 46 yrs old and I feel like I have been doing it wrong my whole life, truly. You have changed the way I do my eyes forever. Your suggestions were spot on. Thank you so much. Kylee : So.. if you have "barely there" hoods you are lucky. If you have a more defined hood you're unlucky? 🤔 What about the monolids then? Is the space of ones eyelids some kinda luck-o-meter? 🤣 ah.. humanity

    The shadowing/browbone "contour" is fantastic for reducing the look of hooded eyes. Great tutorial!
    With both the rounded wingede liner and the higher arch I find that it becomes a much more glamorous and *open* eye (very vintage). The right side, allows for elongation and sultry look. Depending on the shape of your face, either of the brow/winged options could be better, but the right-side shadow is really the key!

    I like the Don't side better on you too, I feel like it's because you don't really have hood eyes the crease is really nice on you and also because your face is not wide. I feel like the longer/wide eye would work perfectly for someone who has a wide face and needs to elongate the eyes. I've never seen a tutorial where both sides look so amazing before this, loved it.

    I appreciate that even on the wrong side you used correct application, like priming and setting your eyes before starting the look. It's nice that this video assumes that people gave basic knowledge of makeup and how to apply it. It's actually showing me what techniques I'm doing wrong instead of obvious mistakes like using too much eyeshadow and not using a primer.

      Either side is just preference. The dont side makes her actual eyeball look bigger & more black dominant in color. Depends what you are going for. I'd almost say its a more 90s look. The other a more modern 60s. See that if you pause at: 11:01 eye shapes.

      @Shrieking.violet 7 лет назад +12

      justenough2luvu You can draw your makeup on your eyes though and kind of cheat the difference. Draw the above crease part a little higher on your more hooded eye and it will give you the appearance of evenly hooded eyes! Also, try some different poses in photos where you are angling the side of your face with the more hooded eye towards the camera slightly. It will also help give the appearance of symmetry in pictures.
      Nothing to stress about though! Something like 94% of people have asymmetric eyes. I'm sure that you are still gorgeous! 😘

  • @jenniferhanson6467

    Wow, I'm a hoody eyed woman AND am getting old.. So double trouble.
    You really made me think and showed all the subtle things that add up.
    I'd never have thought about false lashes needing to flare out at the end making such a difference on top of everything else.
    I'm taking my lashes that are long in the middle and short at the ends and cutting them down in half, swapping them over so I have 2 pairs of half, winged lashes instead of one set of unsuitable lashes.
    Those 'diy' Half lashes are easier and faster to apply, suitable for my eyes and it's like buy one get one free. Haha. Brilliant. Thanks so much.
    I honestly have been so frustrated and doing nice make-up but looking older and hooded more.. I wasn't doing it wrong, but I was just doing the wrong thing for me.
    This is also anti aging too so mature women who go hoody anyway could use this. Thank you once again.

      That's why her "bad" side doesn't even look bad at all. It looks different from her other eye because the way she applied the makeup was different but it didn't look bad. My eyes are so hooded, the hood hides half my eyeliner if I apply it just a little bit thicker than a tight line

    This was absolutely amazing! I really like how you did things people actually do instead of totally exaggerating it on the don't side! It doesn't look bad but it's just what happens sometimes. This was great. I even see Blake Lively, who has hooded eyes, on talk shows with this kind of look, and she has makeup artists!

    actually love this video. Most people who show comparison just make the one side of their face/eye as shitty as possible to show how bad it can be.But you actually showed it how someone might do it if they were trying, which further showed how much of a difference the right technique (not just doing makeup well) made.

    Your wrong eye looks better because your eye looks big and doll like. The "right one" looks boring once you did the eyeliner and dragged your eye down

    Thank you for your advice on applying eyeshadows! I've tried it on my eyes and I was astonished how one little thing can change whole make up. I am taking about upper crease, I applied my eyeshadows there and my eyes became lifted instantly. You got you a new subscriber! 😉

      Mikhaella Ponce de Leon. Pause doesn't help because you have that in the middle and the screen isn't as bright.

    I am in my mid-thirties and I had NO IDEA that I had hooded eyes until the lady doing my wedding make-up mentioned it offhand...now it makes so much sense why I could never seem to get a cat-eye to work, or why my mascara transfers to my brow bone, or a million other things you mentioned. Thank you so much for this video, but especially the eye shadow tip! I am excited now to try your recommendations!

    Girl - you do NOT have hooded eyes. Sorry, but you don’t. The only difference in the “do” eye is that it is elongated. Your “don’t” eye looks great. No hood is shown. I promise.

    This is a fantastic video. The "don't" side winds up looking just a little different, it's not like it's ridiculously wrong. Great for those of us who aren't terrible at makeup, this video just shows those tiny tweaks that can make a difference.

    Omg that lash tip though! Such a huge difference! The wrong pair of lashes can totally Make or Break your eye look,regardless of whether or not you followed all those hooded eye tips/tricks. I can't believe I didn't realize this. I'll definitely be paying even more attention to the lashes I purchase.

    OMG thank you so much for this video!! I had no idea that people with hooded eyes have to do there makeup differently. This changes my routine completely. I always wondered why no matter the amount of eyeshadow I packed on, I didn't even see it. Or why my winged liner curled up even though I've been doing it for years. Thanks so much! I learned a lot.
