Great research, I'm about to watch your updated version after I finish watching. I am doing research for a podcast of my own and your video was very helpful. Thank You
@@markthomas4083 Thank you for your comment. There are two versions of Yankee Jim. I received a note from a member of the San Diego historical society with the hypothesis that the mayor, who panned for gold on the American River, knew that Yankee Jim was a murderer. His note sent me back to doing another search and a second revised video.
Love to "channel" your great grandpa.... Yes, he was at the execution and ordered the cart to move away leaving Yankee Jim to swing. My question is; do you have anything else to contribute to the story? I did a second RUclips video showing updated information. The mayor might have mixed up James Robinson with another criminal who terrorized Northern California. We have the Yankee Jim Bridge here near Colfax. The bridge leads to his namesake (almost ghost) town. I would enjoy hearing any family tales you could contribute. Mike
Just for clarification, Ralph Gibson is the Administrator for the Placer County Museums. Troy Simester is the President of the Forest Hill Divide Historical Society. Troy

All I can think of is Ralph Sepe. Poor Yankee Jim.
It's the ghost that cheated at Cheezy’s Challenge! 😱
It must be the ghost of yankee Jim
Any idea where "Jenny Lynn Canyon" is located relative to Foresthill and Yanky Jims?
@@uwillnevahno6837 Jenny Lind was a famous singer in the 19th century. There is a Jenny Lind mine in Calaveras County.
My great great grandpa was his executioner. His name was Phillip crosthwaite.
