- Judas Priest is back with a new song Panic Attack from their upcoming 2024 album Invincible Shield. So first of all let’s take a look at it, see what it might tell us about the upcoming album, and then answer a popular question of whether it even still sounds like Judas Priest.
We will discuss the Panic Attack synth and guitar intro, the overall duelling guitar composition, Rob Halford' vocal performance, and of course compare it to Judas Priest's earlier work, and namely Painkiller, Firepower, Turbo and Ram It Down, which many of the fans tend to believe Panic Attack is reminiscent of in its sound. And what do you think about Panic Attack? Did you or will you preorder Invincible Shield?
00:00 - It is here
00:20 - The intro
02:20 - The future past
03:24 - The guitar(s)
05:14 - Rob, is it you?
06:21 - Love child it is not
07:24 - Verdict
08:59 - Air raid siren
Judas Priest - Panic Attack lyrics:
The clamour and the clatter of incensed keys
Can bring a nation to its knees
On the wings of a lethal icon
Bird of prey
It's a sign of the times when bedlam rules
When the masses condone pompous fools
And the scales of justice tip in disarray
Panic attack, panic attack
Panic attack, panic attack
Matters of fact fall on deaf ears
While the bitter mobs ramp up their fears
Go creeping round those corridors of power
As the dead heads gladly suffer sins
While the euthanizing then begins
The clock is ticking down to doomsday hour
Panic attack, panic attack
Panic attack, panic attack
Alien nations gleam
Cybertronic schemes
Fibre optic mass hypnotic
Wild neurotic memes
Panic attack, panic attack
Panic attack, panic attack

Glenn did a lot of writing and played on the album. So therefore it must sound like Priest. Shame KK aint there but he keeps shooting himself in the foot. That's on him. I think it sounds friggin great!
Stay safe my friend, and Slava Ukraini. Not many nations are Metal enough to spit DIRECTLY in Putin's eye, I salute you! o7
I'm really surprised that you keep referencing "Ram It Down" as something great or classic. Except for about 3 songs, Ram It Down is a complete bomb and is regarded as the worst album in Judas Priest's classic library. Thankfully they recovered with the ultimate Painkiller album!
@@mchenrynick Hey I love that song, I really couldn't care less what others say. Shit, even if the band themselves hated the song I'd still love it. The extended guitar solo makes me drive 10-15 KPH faster, no joke.
Beauty is in the eyes (or ears, in this case) of the beholder, right?
@@andyb1653 The title track, Ram It Down, was the song that got everyone pumped up and lined up to buy that album, only to be disappointed by MOST of the other tracks. I was always making my own mixtapes, so I dubbed the good ones off of it back in the day :)
If this single is any indication, I think I’m gonna really love this album
i liked it. relieved priest still has it.
Such a good single, and going off past Priest albums, they never release the best songs as singles
Awesome song
Got that right!
Sounds just like late 80s Priest. Sounds even better than Firepower… Really looking forward to this one.
It's almost unbelievable that Rob is 72 years old. What a voice!
In the studio...
Realize he was already fifty in the year 2000
Crazy to think it
@@rothbardfreedom2001
He can also sing great live, but some shows better than others
@@taomahNEGEV Exactly
Rob Halford's voice sounds marvellous. The synth intro was a surprise, and overall it achieves a wonderful unity between the Classic Priest sound with a modern, contemporary sense and feel. Excellent!
Must have listened to this song like 20 times today. Really really good!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Same! I started last night and went to bed past 2 AM because of it haha

Rob Halford is called "The Metal God" for a reason. His pipes are made of chromium-plated boiling metal. May they never rust!
Everything has already been said about Halford. He is a metal god. But the real hero for me is Richie because he perfectly continued the original idea of the band and actually kept it alive. Sometimes I get the feeling that he has found a way to cheat time and is hiding a time machine somewhere. Andy is one of the best producers out there right now. Because of his skill, producers of expensive earbuds can rub their hands because his production is beyond measure. Judas Priest has not only survived but is stepping confidently into the future. I started listening to them when I was 14 and today, when I'm 51, it seems to me that I've aged and they haven't. Judas Priest...it's lucky to live in their time
Rob and Glenn are still there to so there will be a standard. Richie obviously is a pro to and someone has to play it, but I wouldn't cut the others short either.
Amen brother ! (My phone died using my mother's old one till tomorrow lol) Anyway im your age and i couldn't agree more. The thing i love about Priest is that they never "Sold Out" They've always stayed true to their sound and are still Metal Gods since 1974 !!!! Its amazing to think how much influence they've had on Heavy Metal and just music in general.
Glenn still supervises and helps write still, but he also guided Ritchie when Glenn was still playing especially during 2014’s Redeemer of Souls.
@@SantiRecon308 He's given credit on the first song on Guitars. Who's to say what he can do with time in a studio.
They have aged. You should see Glenn.
Richie Faulkner brought new life to the band, dude did the impossible. Took over both lead spots and has gotten nothing but love and support from fans! By far one of my favorite guitarists. Not only because of his playing but because of his genuine attitude. One of the most humble personalities. You can just tell how much he loves what he does and how appreciative he is for the role and his fans.
Amen to that!
In my opinion Priest would have broken up long ago if he hadn't came along. That being said I feel Glenn done most of the writing on this song. It just has Glenn's fingerprints all over it
Rob sounded so amazing at power trip. Which hearing him sound that good live still I have no doubt he will sound great on this record.
Dude, your dedication is phenomenal. Here's to your channel, mate. New Priest track hits the spot!
I’ve been listening to Priest since I was 10, I’m now 54. This song rocks from beginning to end. Can’t wait to hear the rest. 🤘😎🤘
10? Wow. True Metalhead.
@@metaldog4642 I was 10 when Rocka Rolla came out.
👍 1982 was when I first heard Screaming for Vengeance. I was already into Metal. Sabbath,Ozzy ect. When I first heard Priest with the power of the music and of course Rob’s ability and range. I found my band now, 2023 and the Priest is back! IRichie Rocks can’t wait for the album!
@@wwiiinplastic4712 I'm guessing he had a big brother into JP. Amiright?
@@rodneybrimer5171 Dude, the line up changes are crazy, but at least they’re still producing music. 🤘🏻
First impression is that this is a very, very solid single.
It is going on my workout playlist instantly!
Much better imho than Lightning Strike or Firepower singles. Its so pleasantly intricate with psycho intro, fantastic lyrics and Painkiller-Redeemer-Firepoweresque vibe with a pinch of Rush and Moonchild by Maiden. 9,5 from 10 for me
I'm a lifelong Priest fan (and I'm getting oooold! 😂), and I think this new song is absolutely EPIC!!! 😊
I exactly remember the month I became Priest fan. It was in June 2011 shortly after KK left. As I can remember I read an article in the Czech metal magazine with a huge poster of guys but with KK artificially separated through an iron curtain from them...kinda sad
This song surpassed all my expectations going in. I really enjoyed it. Well done boys. Legends being legends
I think the new single is pretty damn good. Touching on multiple eras of Priest yet also sounding modern. Excellent job there.
Of course they still are the Gods Of Metal, the song is outstanding and the lyric is spot on. Plus i love the 80s vibes!
Agree on Rob’s voice. How is this possible? I eagerly await this new record.
Technically enhanced in the studio. Unfortunately, he'll never be able to perform like it live.
The 80s intro instantly reminded me of classic music from an 80s WWF pay per view event. Loved it instantly. Then, we get a fantastic, exciting, action packed crossover of Firepower and Painkiller. Bloody Hell, this is fantastic. The whole song is a colorful action scene set to brilliant music, with the section from 2.20 - 2.36 being the showstopper for me. That section utterly rules. Incredible Song!!!!!
Been a fan since for 40+years. I like all of the albums and you are right, no two albums sound the same, that's what I love.
The verse in this song is absolutely spectacular. Reminds me of Between the Hammer and Anvil, or One Shot at Glory. Its so refreshing to hear Priest like this again.
I couldn't agree more, mate! Super excited for this album! I wasn't sure what to expect after the album cover was unveiled, but that classic "don't judge a book by its cover" definitely slapped me in the face after I heard Panic Attack. It says a lot about a band that after 50+ years and 19 albums, they can still come up with fresh material. Great review! 🤘🏻
The More I Listen To It The Deeper Field I Reached...This Song Is An A Class Metal Song...
Ian Hill's bass absolutely shook Power Trip last week in Indio Calif Oct 7 2023 Good to see Glen Tipton for the 3 encores
Just took up the bass this year and thought it was just me paying more attention…I was in the pit and felt it on every song for the first time ever….(have seen Priest 20 times now)….every band was on top of their game…I think they realized the significance of the weekend!
We sincerely enjoyed “Panic Attack.”If the rest of the album is as good as this single, the fans will be elated. In the meantime, keeping you and your beautiful country in our thoughts and prayers.🙏🏻🎧
Ritchie is a legend.
Suffered a burst aortic aneurism on stage and still managed to finish his solo.
That’s metal AF.
I f*cking LOVE THIS SONG. It's everything I ever loved about Priest, with all those decades of experience behind it.
F*ck yeah the boys still got "it".
it's really cool how these guys can keep up such a great work for so long, and also, nice video, buddy, it's always cool to see your big knowledge over the bands you love
Yep 10. My best friends older brother introduced me to Priest and Sabbath. Hell Bent was one of the first records I ever bought. Still have it too. 🤘🤘🤘
The best song since RIchie joined the band! Just incredible
You nailed every aspect I felt about Panic Attack. Keep up the good work
That chorus is extremly catchy.
I find myself mumbling Panic Attack, Panic Attack regularly or keeping it playing in my head, even though I just listened to it once.
It sounds great, I've listened to it several times it gets better and better. Looking forward to the album and tour. Stay safe and keep it loud. L🤘🤘🤘
I love it! I had a 8 hour drive today and listened to it multiple times. I liked the last album a lot, can't wait for this!
Incredible song
It's been a long time I've been hooked so instantly on something! Can't wait to hear the entire album!
@@MetalPilgrimsame here
This album is going to be fantastic. Panic Attack is intense and surprisingly diverse musically. It opens with classic 80s Priest synth, hammers you with Scott Travis and then those power chords, delves into a Neo-Classical (shocked) mini solo, and just continues to build intensity and grit.
Wild ride and I absolutely loved all of it.
I love it! Can't wait for the new Vinyl!! I listen to this ten times today.
High key love your insight into the song, I was too memorized and lost in rocking my head to think about and appreciate all the pertinacious and make those comparisons to older and newer Priest Albums.
All in all, Panic Attack is SO GOOOOOOD and your take on it all is great!
Sounds great! Can´t wait for the album release.
Definitely sounds like a product of the Faulkner era, getting a lot of hints of both Redeemer and Firepower. Opening riff reminds me of a similar opening on Halls of Valhalla, and the singing/structure in the middle reminds me a lot of Traitors Gate. Also got reminded of Battle Cry at one point, and Rob's sustained falsetto gave me King Diamond vibes. And then of course the shred-fest which will will point to Painkiller (or again, Halls of Valhalla). I would also add that the lyrics remind me of Electric Eye, but instead of satellites its about Twitter & social media manipulation.
10/10, will play on repeat 🤘
Still powerful and on fire 🔥🫶 Long live the Priest! 🤘❣️
JP has always been my favorite Metal Band Period. That being said, some of their work took time to like, to want to even hear it again. Some of it struck me right away. Hard. I'm hoping this one hits hard. I don't think I'll be disappointed. Even if it turns out to be not so good, it'll still be better than an ear ache. I'll come to like it just fine. I'm a Rocker, there's something in me blood!!!!!
All I got to say is these guys are getting up there in age so whatever they do is bonus for the rest of us.
I believe that it is worth looking forward to the rest of the new album in March.
The more I hear the song, the more I love it.
Well put together. I enjoy your insight & commentary. Cheers & God Bless
I love every note... all the 80's sonic references, Synths, synth drums.. it's like a look back in Priest history on song form.
Its gonna be another Killer album.
Cheers !!
Love it and totally agree with you! Very excited about what is coming in March!
🤘
Fantastic track! BTW as a guitarist and fan all the way back to the 80s I can definitely hear Glenn playing that first solo and a bunch of the other guitar specialty tracks. I can't even believe Halford can still sing like this after how many decades?? Can't wait to hear the rest!
I don't think Glen is able to still play a intricate solo judging his hands from the shows.

Just heard the song this morning. AWESOME!!! Look forward to hearing more songs. 🤘🤘
Robs voice is like fine wine…only gets better with time.
I felt exactly what you said. When i thought the song was about to end, there came an unexpected solo
On first listen I was really getting the Ram it Down vibe.
Of course there is some similarity to Firepower in sound and production, but I really felt Ram it Down, I’m particular Blood Red Sky, which is one of my favorite albums.
Automatic sniper
With computer sights
Pneumatic fingers
Nearly had me in a vice!
I ❤ Panic Attack sounds so refreshing love the 2 guitar duo solos like old times. Rob sounds the best he's sounded for years gives me chills how strong his voice sounds. And it sounds like it's recorded and mixed great to. Cant wait for the album to come out already ordered all formats of the cd. The Metal Gods are back...🤘🤘🤘. Please stay safe over there ❤️ your channel. 🙏 🙏 🙏.
Its crazy and makes me so happy seeing young people being interested in Priest and their new music. I remember seeing few guys and chicks with British steel lately. Fabulous thing tbh
The Priest is Back with phenomenal piece of music !!!!!!
Been waiting all night and morning for this.
As a 61 year old rock guitarist, I was a fan between British steel and Screaming for Vengeance
Can’t help but think about KK as I’m listening to this. Parts of this I can feel Glenn ripping the strings. Vocally and instrumentally this tune kicks ass. I just downloaded it. 🤘🤘
The Only accepted and reliable review for Judas Priest Panic Attact Song...i've been waiting for this review Man...thank You so much...and Faulkner already got Tipton's nerve...🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻i got Panic Attact and i feel so good
Congratulations.. Hail Judas Priest...
This song reminded me of "Somewhere In Time" as performed by Helloween with Marty Friedman on guest guitar.
In other words, I love it.
I can't stop listening to it. Love it!!!
I love this song. I especially look forward to the new album
I love this song and cant wait for the album! ❤
I was cautiously confident that they could make something as good as Firepower, but this song cleared all my doubts.
They did it again, and I am even sure this is going to be better than Firepower...
This analysis is absofuckin‘lutely spot on, and exactly what I thought after hearing this song three or four times. Thanks and Long live Priest ,
Great review! I definitely hear the drum sound like in Painkiller and guitar synth like in Turbo. Greetings from Poland!
P. S. I subscribe your channel and follow the "Defenders of the Faith" series :)
I love Priest and I’m a picky bastard.
Panic Attack is already one of my favourite Priest tracks ever ❤ 🔥 🤘
By the second listen, Priest have drawn Me back to the fold, Thankyou, life just gets better,
Halford's voice the last two years is coming better.Listen the 2022 lives and especially the songs victim of changes and painkiller and you'll see that his voice coming to standar of 90s.It's very impressive.I think Halford stop smoking the last years and his voice coming to shape.Richie is impressive, his guitar work is outstanding.Scott is Scott.Glenn is Glenn. And Ian is Ian of course.I think the new album is the next level after the Firepower album.
ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by the opening sounding so futuristic and even more so by Rob's vocals throughout......altogether I am very impressed and look forward to hearing the rest of the album.
It’s not even a question. They sound more energized and motivated than ever.
Rob is really pushing his vocals on this album. A few albums ago I was hearing his age in his voice. His high notes were beginning to sound dusty. Firepower mostly proved me wrong, but this sounds like vintage priest vocals. It’s incredible.
Trial By Fire is another killer track.
Terrific as always! Firepower evolved with bits of Turbo’s electronic sounds and the sharp, treble and precise execution of Painkiller.
I love it. Halford sounds killer. Can't wait for the album. Sounds like Painkiller and that's a good thing ! Listened to it at least 5 times . A Plus !
I am glad to find out Glenn Tipton was involved, he's still my alltime favourite guitar hero and I love that he is still embraced by the band.
It's a very good video and despite its quick release a well concised evaluation! Just formulated my thoughts. 👍 A lot of things going on in this song, you have to pay much attention through repeated listens to proceed all these. And also there are some bafflingly simple parts, like the heavy intro riff or the chorus itself. And all this really has some futuristic, dark vibe. The guys in Judas Priest were indeed right: it's something different - yet trademark Judas Priest at the same time.
IMO, it sounds like modern Priest with a sprinkle of Maiden, especially that intro. In 45+ years of loving both bands this may be the first time I've ever thought that.
I love your channel.... keep up the good work
Nail on the head review! Exactly what I thought!
Outstanding! So glad to hear fingerprints from Firepower in this which was a killer album! I truly believe that Judas Priest is having a full-on renaissance much in part due to Richie Faulkner and Andy Sneap. That is not to take away from the rest of the cast and the songwriting, both of which are exceptional! Rob's voice is amazing! But Richie is bringing fresh vibes to Priest and Andy Sneap is giving their songs a beautiful platform to shine, through the production that he is bringing to the table!
fantastic review man and agreed 100%!
I'm impressed with Halford's vocals on this one.
I love Turbo and Ram It Down.
I don't love Panic Attack, but I agree with you in this video.
Just fantastic !
It definitely sounds like priest. If the rest of that album is like this, im going to love it.
Thanks for sharing.
I'd give it a Screamin for vengeance/ fire power sound , we can interpret anyway you wish. Let's be honest lets love it for what it is. ITS PRIEST AND LIVE AND LOVE IT.
Great video...Instant subscribe.
Here I am, an older American living in Australia, watching a young Ukrainian talk about a British Metal band.
Metal unites! Peace and caring to you and yours.
What a single this is! It hits all the checkboxes I love when it comes to Priest. Halford hitting that high note followed by the second guitar solo is fvcking immaculate
They freaking smashed it! Best song out in decades
Can't wait for the full release this wkng has got me to LOVE Judas priest
It sounds like it builds on a foundation of late 80s Priest, agreed. That is a good thing.....
Love it!
Amazing song! Love it….every aspect, musically, vocally, lyrically. The new album is almost certain to kick some ass!
This is the Priest sound I love. Can't wait to see them live in May for the first time (yes, I'm late for the train, but at least I'm finally on it).
Hearing this I am really looking forward to hearing it live, it is absolutely great..!! I also think you found the right words here, the band has done a great job.! I am also looking forward to the release of the album, so I can hear it on a propper stereo..!

This song is heavy metal meets power metal, with a splash of class and leather. I’m digging it.
I’m glad there is a lot more focus on double kick blasts (compared to, say, Turbo Lover, which was focused on a straight forward groove).
From only hearing the intro I could tell it would be a great song and....I wasn't mistaken🤘👌 Cheers 🎉❤
