Hi Ben, i have both of these radios and they both perform same. Infact Uv18 pro max i would say shows better quality externally. THIS is brilliant radio for beginners. It is very under rated as people compare them with radios that cost lot more money. Excellent radio for what it cost and it does look really nice!!!! Air band isn't that bad. GPS Option works flawlessly, coordinates are correct compared to Garmin and Tomtom gps satnavs and very handy as you can send your current location to other Baofeng radio. You probably got bad copy.
Hello Ben , Thank you for sharing . I have the Baofeng 18 pro with the GPS , but for some reason the GPS icon at the top of my screen is red which means it's not receiving a GPS signal ?, the GPS icon should be white as I understand ,I have the GPS switched on , I was wondering if you could possibly have any pointers as to why it's not receiving a GPS signal , it would be much appreciated .
Whats happened to the font style !?!?! , its tiny !, In the ad on Bangood it looks like yaesu font ft3 /ft5. I guess this is typical false advertising again so no supprise there lol
I have both. I love the features of both, but both have terrible spurious outputs, so I no longer use them for transmitting. My UV17 Pro has virtually no output on 1.25M. If you listen to the sound of their GPS location transmissions, they are very different. Very disappointed in both for execution, but if they had clean transmitters, they would be my daily carries, especially the UV17 Pro.
To be fair I've had worse actual torches that the one on the UV-17 in the past! But yes, as for most with the single LED on the top, just a light. 🔦 💡 Thanks for watching 👍
Baofeng needs to make or at least incorporate DMR/fusion and possibly other digital modes and SSN into the UB5RM for a low price. I would pay an extra 50 dollars for those features. Keep in mind it’s a China company so copyrights and all that means nothing as they can just have it switched off until you get it and then unlock it. I welcome the comments on my comment.
I don't know if Fusion or D-Star will ever be possible in anything other that Yaesu or Icom, but Baofeng do a few DMR radios already. I've had the DM 1702 for about 4 years and I paid about £40 for from new at the time.
@@sekibulja-fu3bv my point is Baofeng is a Chinese company that cares not about intellectual property and it is possible to build a radio with all the basic difital Modes. The question is will they at some point or do they have to follow certain laws.
Stupid comment mate. How about researching just what is being produced by China. The latest cutting edge manufacturing is all there mate, and if you still have a 20 year old mindset that dismisses Chinese product, you are just plain ignorant
You mention the airband is not as good as some competitors, which have you found to be better out of interest Ben?

Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes I agree, great beginners radio and yes, looks like I was just unlucky with the one I was sent.

The simplest answer is that you have to go outside, without any type of roof or something else above you, clear sky view above, cheers
Shame it was a bit of a disappointment but i did notice the angle on the PTT looked quite novel. Thanks Ben
Cheers Neil 👍

Yeah, that's a shame. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Great radio.....airband not very good
It's certainly not as good as it could be! Thanks for watching 👍
I find airband excellent on this radio
You keep saying bangood it's baofeng Ben 😂😂

Not a torch a light! Never used it

@m7frs272 that's correct Ben, Baofengs use Dm mode. You can get a small portable repeter to utilise other Protocols...

Once the Americans made "mighty fine junk" and now we get flooded by China.
