Good review. I have this radio. It is good. Yes, it is based on the UV5R but it takes that design a bit further. How? How about 10 watts? How about that big sexy power/volume knob on top? Spurious emissions? Oh stfu already with spurious emissions. We get it, there are lots of the anti Baofeng crowd out there and that is their snobby battle cry.. I like this radio as opposed to the cartoonish looking new Baofeng products. I will probably buy another one from Anysecu.
Yeah, love the channel mem. The screw down battery might be a good thing, since there has been problems with the old style breaking. I might consider picking one up. This definitely looks like they are marketing it more towards a mil field radio.
@@billwallace7713 surprisingly I didn't do anything. It came "jail broke" I guess. I have done the jail break thing on all my UV5R's to transmit/receive on GMRS and when I tested the UV25 it communicated with a GMRS walkie talkie without doing anything. I was surprised. I tried finding any tutorials on jail breaking the UV25 but haven't found anything yet.
@@themodernminuteman2557 i sent my amazon uv 25 back, ordered one from ebay,it works fairly well,it is supposed to receive air band,so far no,it does do 220 at 4 watts,9.8 to 11 watts across uhf and vhf,i am happy, thank you for your video
I'm curious where did you purchase this one at? I think you said eBay which is a totally different box and radio and battery you get from Amazon for the baofeng store. The baofeng from eBay does not have an FCC sticker and it's a smaller battery the one off of Amazon is 5200 mg and has a FCC certification. Even the boxes are different and what's inside is different
After a little google-fu I have determined that they are all the same... Searches for each one keeps bringing you to the same one. Same specs, same everything.
Yup... Lorain County. My program file is nothing special. It's all your GMRS, FRS, MURS, 2M, 70cm, and all the local emergency management freqs (EMS, Sheriff, Rangers (state/county), police, fire, and more), plus some of the local repeaters. I used some of the lists from the RadioMaster Reports to piece it together... radiofreeq.wordpress.com/2016/02/09/patriot-radio-channels/
I never really thought it was a good idea to store or program anything on my radio . If it happens to get taken from you , whoever takes it has all your comms.
@@jameseves9209 it really all depends on one's radio usage and SOP's. From a professional citizen/Minuteman POV sure, from Joe the farmers POV maybe not such a big deal. Then again, maybe all you're programming are all the basic Frequencies like MURS, GMRS, FRS, local repeaters, local emergency services, Maritime emergency, etc. At the end of the day everyone's use is different and should definitely consider the pros and cons per your point. Good comment, appreciate it.
Put that bad boy on a meter and see if it's really 10W! As for the screen, i'm curious how it looks in the sunlight. Looks great at night I'm sure, but.... I agree about those big buttons! I could program this with my (__________) is a great option to have!
A 10w handheld is completely pointless on 2m/70cm/MURS/GMRS unless you're compensating for line loss from coax running to an antenna atop a 100ft tower. The frequencies this radio can transmit on are strictly line of sight and the increased power will be nearly imperceptible on the receiving end. You don't get "More fars", you just make the radio a bit easier to direction find and kill the battery faster. When it comes to range of VHF/UHF radios, elevation is what actually matters.
@@CzechSixTvthanks for the unsolicited advice Elmer. Stop being a jackass and assume then I have lousy coach and need the 10W. BTW, who the hell cares about "boogy man" df'ing you. Get out there and use your radio and avoid the keyboard. You will make more friends.
I've now added this to my collection of baofengs, can't wait to compare it to the ar152 which has been solid
I'd like to see a vs of this and the AR-152

Yeah, I would agree. Definitely geared towards heavier use folks.
Can you transmit on GMRS with it?
Yes you can... Just tested to confirm

That battery pack looks maybe big enough to contain 4x 18650 cells? If so, they would only be 1400mah each.

They dropped the ball with those Kenwood mic connector.. those things fail all the time..
I don't see any reason to switch to that radio. They solved 1 issue and added more.
It's pronounced bow (as in take a bow) fung. Weird, I know, but for example the name "Chen" is pronounced "Chun".
