About the Gen 7 GTS: A hacker named Japan.Kebuju had figured out an exploit with the trainer profile picture you can take for your passport. By zooming the camera out ridiculously far, the pfp requires the 3DS to render far more volume than it can handle, and it completely crashes the system. The hacker then went and put pokemon in the GTS for a lot of common requests, like starters, in order to completely deny people from completing their dex. Really shitty behavior. If you're trying to complete the dex, there is another hacker who can help. Someone by the name DeadCNS will always give shiny variants of whatever pokemon you request, in exchange for a litten. If you don't have a litten, you might need to wonder trade until you find one.
Thanks for the info. It's really annoying lol. In the example footage I found, I actually found real trades. But at the start of the challenge, before I played Ultra Sun, I checked to see and I ONLY got the crashing groudons. I thought, well, this feature is fucked, guess I gotta play 2 frickin games lol.
To anyone who's curious, the gen 7 GTS has been broken for YEARS. From what I've heard it's because of someone who registered a hacked Mon of every species or almost ever species and if you bump into them on the GTS your game will crash, I don't remember how but back in 2020 I was able to trade for all the version exclusives, but if you gotta use that GTS I wish you luck lol
At this point I'd suggest finding someone to trade with on discord, forms, etc or 'evolving' them in pkhex. The trade evo and version exclusive trades are just minefields of freezing your 3ds or wildly unfair trades. It's a real shame
Thank you. I was starting to think it was my game or my console. Luckily I got to realise you can still leave pokemon without searching and there are some bots looking for trades
i remember when sun and moon came out, i rushed the game in 4 days and started grinding for VGC. first premier challenge was in like 2 weeks and i barely made it, signing up 20 minutes late, after not sleeping that night because of breeding and leveling up Tapu Koko and Celesteela, and with an itemless marowak and Attract arcanine I 6-0'd the swiss rounds, was a senior back then and didn't have top cut. one of my proudest tournaments to this day
With my very superficial understanding of how competitive team building worked in these generations I can safely say that I definitely had no idea how unnecessarily absurd it really was. I got lost at least three times I think but I enjoyed these deep dive videos quite a bit.
Love how imperative Elgyem is to the entire team-building process, with regards to Legendaries - nice to see my favorite Pokémon shine in such a unique way. 💞👽 It's a shame that Synchronize doesn't have the out-of-battle effect anymore (along with so many other abilities, except the Egg-hatching ones). I know it's a lot easier to change natures now, but there was something so engaging and fun about being able to control the natures of wild encounters yourself. I'm glad that Mints are a thing, don't get me wrong, but I don't think Synchronize's application is completely obsolete, especially if you don't want to grind out cash or breed for random natures until you get the one you want. 😭
I think that BDSP still has those out of battle effects. I know for sure that Synchronize turns all of the Grand Underground' current room Pokémon's natures into the user's, if I'm not mistaken.
As the last gen that you sometimes needed certain HPs on Pokemon, SRing for a my event shiny Tapu Lele for HP Fire was an absolute NIGHTMARE. And this wasn't even RNG, it was SRs. I'm both sad yet relieved that HP is no longer in the game but regardless comp in gen 7 was both grindy and frustrating, esp with the minigames and forcing myself to use festival plaza to reek the benefits of lottery, AND SRing/Breeding for certain HPs for coverage strats. I'm glad yer covering gen 7 and how grindy it really is cause goddamn Sword/Shield made things a BREEZE, same with SV.
Hidden Power should've always been a choosen variable. Being clunkily tied to IVs is 20 years of bad game design players had to tolerate, and one of the biggest dealbreakers of making teams legitimately.
@@SpectreXSthey should just have an NPC that you give your desired Pokémon to and they trade it to you. For tournaments you could make them rental teams where event staff build the team and give you a rental code
It's probably been mentioned before, but Pelipper doesn't have the Lucky Egg in Gen 7, Blissey does. So when you were grinding those Blissey's you could've been Thiefing them for Lucky Eggs :'3 (It's a 5% chance, but still)
I was able to make a perfect Greninja raid ready Gastrodon with Perfect EV’s, IV’s, and Egg Moves for in about a hour to an hour and a half. At this point, you buy about 60k of worth of items, and kill a bunch of Pokémon, it’s insanely fast
With it being on the switch, turbo controllers and automation can help farm tons of money through the ace academy tourney mostly passively, only being stopped if unlucky rng caused your 1 pokemon to faint
I would actually love to see what catastrophic mistakes you can make while training. Eg. give one wrong EV and spend a bunch of time hunting the berry to reduce it. Or maybe deleted a move that now needs additional items to remember. BTW, I think you can buy heart scales for 1000 pokedollars
it would probably be forgetting a move a mon can only learn from a previous gen, and having to re-rng a new mon to get that move back if you already transfered that mon and then did the accidental "move-forgetting"
Great video, and the groudon crash is just a pokemon that was edited weirdly and is made to crash games people do that on gen 7 gts for many mons that people want its very weird
Yeah I've heard it's got to do with the text formatting. It seems several tradeable groudon exist rn, but when I started before I played ultra sun, the first one was the crash one.
Alola? Slow and clunky? Impossible! Great video, I still think Gamefreak should just make a seperate game purely for competitive team building/vgc, instead of putting it all in the main series titles
Sw/Sh did had PokeJobs *but* it was literally only for EV training and levels (which there's a exploit/glitch that still works to this day) that and you can only put in up to 10 Pokemon IIRC
The thing about pokejobs is that you can only access it through the pokemon center, and it was pretty dependant on the type of job to ev traing a pokemon effectively, otherwise you had to reset to get the job you wanted, it was more fast to ev train with vitamins. The ability to open the pokepelago anywhere and to harvest berries was honestly the Best feature out of it, and the thermal waters help me alot with happiness dependent evolutions as well with spare eggs while shiny hunting, it just felt that it could have expanded the pokepelago concept but they didn't and just let the pokejobs there
Damn I remember that GTS bug when I completed the national dex in gen 7. I can't believe that's still there! If I understand correctly some players are able to put up bugged pokemon and once their trainer pic starts to load on the bottom screen it just crashes your 3DS.
I recently replayed Sun and was VERY frustrated by the GTS hacking issue. I searched online and found the solution: a cheat, that force-replaces everyones profile pic with your own (the reason why the game freezes is the hacker basically bricking their profile in such a way, to freeze when the game tries loading it). Smacked that on and boom the GTS functions again! (still gotta watch those no/modified description hackers though) I managed to finish my dex and am now Masuda-hunting a Greninja. Still is pretty egregious how the Gen 6 and 7 trades are left that broken.
I've been watching your videos and man does all this give me anxiety flashes. I stopped competitive battling in Gen 7 cause I got a job and was busy with school. I remember doing a lot of this when these games came out and eventually giving up cause I couldn't put in the time necessary. With Gen 8 and 9, I've gotten more into it again, but I'm so out of practice I'm scared to make a fool of myself in competitive. But I did train up some Pokémon for the first time in a while. I hope these games continue to become more accessible to people like me, who just can't get the time commitment.
And with this video, you've done a video with every generation from 3 to 9! I... doubt you want to do the first two gens, since competitive wasn't really a thing before Gen 3, but those are an option I guess.
I haven’t really done gen 3- I’ll be doing a full one next month instead of the short tama builder I did. I’ve been doing an insane amount of research and it’s going to be a special video. I want to do gen 1 eventually, but it’s taking me so long to find spreads
Good job as always with these types of videos man, praising the good pace of it, watched the whole 53 minutes without even noticing an hour already passed And thank you for your sacrifice of having to play "the main story" of USUM twice.
Yo your competitive Pokémon series is insane, I have really been enjoying this series. I was wondering if you could do this series with one of the newest teams using the fastest methods across all generations and see how quick it would be to theoretically create a team using all of the generations or potentially if it is extremely fast make multiple. Just a suggestion though but please keep this series up!
I love how even though Ultra Warp Ride is incredibly inefficient when compared to standard Legendary encounters, getting the gen 7 team is still leagues faster than the gen 6 team, not because of any improvements that happened between games but only because we didn't have to RNG manip a bloody event Raichu. I do love Sun and Moon's story, but the pacing definitely makes it more difficult to replay and it would be real nice if you could skip more of the cutscenes. Considering that gen 9 gives you a second box legendary, those games don't have any single encounter version exclusives, but we don't have the DLC, so we won't know if Gamefreak has kicked that habit until then. Absolutely love that last segment on the Poke-Pelago as it is easily one of the best quality of life features in modern Pokemon games
I played sun and moon on week release and it was such a nice experience seeing the people in the plaza and installing stores... i really liked the pokepelago wished more Pokémon games had a feature as fun and afk as that for levels/berries/items i also played some online competitive on that gen but wasnt really good at it, just building teams of pokemons i like not caring about team composition or metas, good times.
I love watching these videos, I'm kinda getting into the competitive scene but just watching this makes me want to try to build a legit pokemon team but for older games. I just find it so intriguing
I think it's also worth noting that this whole setup is for a single VGC team. Like, you have to jump through all of these hoops just to replicate a team somebody used in VGC successfully. A team that high level players will be very aware of and not only do competitive metas shift constantly, Pokemon changes the VGC rules every season. You have very little ability to modify this team once it's built outside of EVs and moves. Ability capsules cost a lot of BP, Ability Patches didn't exist yet, and mints didn't exist yet. This wasn't a one time thing if you wanted to play competitive Pokemon in Gen 7. Things are easier now (mints exist, ability capsules and bottle caps are reasonably easy to obtain, PP ups can be bought, ability patches now exist, egg moves don't require breeding, and hyper training can be done at level 50) but it still requires a lot of grinding raids and the like (especially for tera shards) and 0IV stats continue to be an absolute shit show to obtain. GF needs to do at least 1 of 2 things (preferrably both): 0 IV bottle caps for trick room Pokemon and special attackers, and (ideally) have a Showdown style team builder for official tournaments. If a Pokemon is possible then you can have it in your team. Just navigate a menu and build it. Cut the concept of hacking out of the competitive space by simply making it irrelevant.
The exclusiveness of pokemon created from the financial barrier of having to own multiple games is a huge part of what inspired me to start my game collection to help others. I own nearly every pokemon game that you can get exclusives from, from gen. 3 to date. With Ruby, American Colloesum with bonus disc, Black 2, and White 2 being the exceptions, for now. I even went as far as to aquire the Japanese version of Colloseum with the Bonus disc for Celibi and a copy of Ranger that still let me get a Manophy egg. Definitately one of my more expensive hobbies to break into.
5:00 The reason it crashes is because the 3DS games' trade systems are chock-full of hacked pokemon, and some of them actively crash your game when the game tries to load the details. It's honestly abysmal how terrible Game Freak's cheat detection is compared to tools like PKHex.
@@imablisy That's possible! Kind of impossible to verify WHAT exactly it is, but it's a problem I never had when the GTS for Gen 7 was still super-active, and only started having around 2019 once all the actual players bailed for Gen 8.
Just cause you brought up shiny hunting. I'd love to share my story with shiny hunting in Ultra Sun in particular. I am currently 40+ phases into a hunt for the level 9-12 salamence on Route 3 Bagon can call in. I have the shiny charm and have to SOS to have a chance to see it. I have been hunting on and off for almost 2 years. Odds with the shiny charm are roughly 1/1365 and go up the longer a chain is. But Salamence is a 1% spawn so I'm looking at worst 1/13650. Shiny hunting is rough.
I did live under a rock (and also dumb lmao) so I wasn't aware of RNG Manipulation's existance (back when the games came out I mean I know more about it now haha) but it's still a weird hurdle to KNOW about. But it is certainly better than reseting for 125 hours at least...
I'm not sure whether it was omitted because it wasn't pertinent to the topic of the video, but the GTS freezing is a known issue, because someone modded their system and has put up a bunch of trades, but because there's something with their profile that the game has difficulty rendering, it's almost impossible to get anything going on the GTS because of that
@@imablisy ah, sorry, I should have been a little more specific, I heard you mention the GTS freezing, but wasn't sure if you knew why. There's various topics on it all over the place. Look up "Japan.Kebuju", they're one of the more infamous causes of the freezing
The last few words talking about pelago was basically how I build back in those days, otherwise I’d have suffered and probably not starting competing more seriously
Hacking in pokemon should be 100% legal and accepted for VGC. Some people can't afford both games or have the time to get a perfect IV and EV pokemon. It's so dumb
@@a08c7bde5 that's an even dumber argument it's like if people wanted to compete in tennis but they needed 4 tennis rackets and 2 courts in order to compete at a high level
Even for super active, no-life, max efficiency gamers, Pelago is still an addition for them to take advantage of. Because while it's slow, Pelago can be active and running while doing other things, it's Macro efficient to always have mons doing something there. And let's be honest, everyone has to sleep at some point, but Pelago doesn't.
Really interesting video. I have TONS of experience of playing USUM and SM casually and tbf, all you said about slow story and terrible mechanics they implemented are 100% true. The worst part imho was how the energy orbs became scarcer as you went further the wormhole, so you'd get sucked in the random ass portal (I suppose it was done as to not "exploit" the shiny hunting or sth similar), getting the wrong Poke and having to start it all over again. I once (llke 10 months ago) actually tried to build a competitive team out of my favs like Xurkitree, Guzzlord, Incineroar etc (yeah, I know not the best aside from the cat thing), but gave up a week or so after trying to RNG manipulate a good Xurk and farming items😵💫. I mean, I was still learning RNGing the stuff (I still suck at it lol) and maybe that was pathetic of me but honestly, if playing USUM casually will drive you insane due to how slow the game is, competitive building will end you up in an asylum. I appreciate your videos as they show what actually goes on bts of competitive building. Amazing as always.
Your conclusion proves further to me that people like you and me would have seriously important societal roles in the Pokemon world: breeders. And really, if we didn't have computers to make a lot of these games easier, I believe that competitive battlers would come to people like us for their Pokemon and compensate in some way with better breeding individuals or cash or something like that. People don't want the market to take form lol (though I get it, it's not a game most people want to spend 100 hours in, but still).
This is the one and only gen I properly dipped my toes into competitive, even if it was mainly sparked from wanting to get the shiny Tapus as rewards for participating into those event battles or whatever they were.
Considering the GTS hacker stuff its honestly a surprise i was able to find the Alolan Dex. First Dex i ever completed too. A couple of friends came in clutch with trading and exclusives
Regarding easy bottlecaps, as mentioned the first day of a reset will always net you the 2nd place item in the treasure shop. But I noticed that after resetting the 3ds time, you'll be unable to use it for a day, but you'll also reset the rewards for the next day, meaning you can farm passively at least 1 silver bottlecap every 48 hours without the need for FC. Well I managed to snag a few 5* shops as a day one players on both, so I secured the treasure shop with the gold bottlecap (have won it 3 or 4 times)
One thing about your Version Exclusives rant: I agree 100% that Pokémon should not be paywalled behind having to buy another game. One thing that was done during Generation 7, however was the 2018 Legends Event. These events gave you the other game’s exclusive Legendary Pokémon and they would be at least 3IV. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, these Pokémon would be Level 60. In Ultra Sun Ultra Moon however, these Pokémon would be Level 100 with a Gold Bottle Cap. These events were a lifesaver for me until I bought the other game over Summer Break. But still, two games and Version Exclusive Pokémon in each game is extremely inaccessible and shouldn’t be a method that’s practiced by them or anyone trying to make any creature based competitive game.
Great video as always! For the next one, I think it would be cool if you go deeper into what changes could be done in that game for it to become more accessible
Playing through usum is super fun for me so it wouldnt be a problem if I wanted to do usum competitive for some reason. I personally love cutscenes, but i definitely see how it could be a big problem for some people
As someone who played VGC through all of USUM and continues to today, I think these games were probably the best for making teams without hacking. The SOS EV method can be extremely fast all things considered cause if you aren't going to spend money on vitamins, it is much faster. As you mentioned the BP grinding from mantine surf was fun and easy and not time consuming. But the real thing that was sorely missing from SWSH for 6 months and currently missing from SV was Poke Pelago giving you an efficient and easy method to reset EV's on mons you've already trained. I can't stress how painful grinding for these berries was pre IoA from SWSH. And you're right, playing these games every day gave you excellent ways to passively get caps and all that good stuff.
@@imablisy I disagree because dynamax adventures have huge issues for SWSH. They are extremely time consuming and are EXTREMELY disincentivizing to make any trick room team featuring a legendary mon with 0 speed or 0 attack mons. Lets not even talk about Staks with attacking boosting IV's, which I will guarantee were all gened in natdex and gs for SWSH. This alone makes USUM better because while ultra warp ride will be time consuming it will in theory be less time consuming than doing dynamax adventures for some of these mons. Staks in particular was appalling odds. Zygarde was also problematic because of the difficulty in beating it. SV doesn't have the legendary issue yet. There might be hope that legendary methods get easier, but I'm not hopeful. We've been going downhill since gen 6. The Ability patches though are a huge pain. 4% on a difficult 6 star raid? Pain. Tera shards? More pain. Neither of these give me hope. I think taking the whole picture of the game is important. SWSH locked your ability to create teams if you hadn't played a previous gen because dynamax adventures were so stupid for some of these mons. USUM did not do this and everything was "manageable". This is why I prefer USUM, not to mention how easy egg rng was that gen.
15:19 my ultra honest reaction to that information. Other than that i feel bad for not giving you my groudon that i catch in ultra sun, wich is not had perfect ivs but since i don't play the game in years i could give you an Gold bottle cap just for free
Absolutely agree on version exclusive legends being dumb I'd also say regular version exclusives are also a bit dumb though to a bit of a lesser extent
Huh... Thank you for enlightening me as to why after I finished my fist Pokemon legitimately (aka not on an emulator but on native hardware which is Moon) I felt so little engagement after I finished the game and even barely bothered with the Ultra Beasts afterwards. Also why I felt so fearful of going into the Battle Tree with my story mons.
Very good point on the usefulness of bottle caps. RNG absolutely trumps both legendaries and breeding, especially due to how practical it is to get the initial seed. I've done both methods rng-less and the time sink is massive. Breeding has quite a bit of variance, and the time adds up from starting with only a 4-IV Ditto and getting to the point where you have 5-IV males from different egg groups, or the very rare 6-IV (which will only be of 1 or 2 groups). Sometimes you get it quick and sometimes you get absolutely rolled into not even being able to replace parents into two 5IV ones, or a 5 and a 4. All the time this entire process take, you're undoubtedly better off RNG breeding or at least RNGing a ditto from gen 4 or 5. Also cool find of that 10y old post of the person talking about bringing RNG'd mons to a vgc tourney. You can optimize grinding legendaries to L100 by doing 5 at a time all with lucky eggs (+rainbow beans etc of course). You will need the framework to get those, like I did training several physical Butterfrees from poke pelago to get the lucky eggs. For a 1-team video it's too slow, but long term it's good... ...STILL, the grind up to the full 100 takes too long. Beyond level 60 or so, you'll need to mind-numb yourself task-overlapping with something IRL or entertainment, because it just never ends. Not to mention getting the bottle caps! You either optimize the festival plaza stuff (which I couldn't find any good step by step guide), or you're stuck with like 2-3 caps/hr by fishing with a lead such as Sticky Hold Trubbish holding a smoke ball. With the ever so rare gold cap from pelago for non-trick room physical mons. To think that it's yet another team from the alleged "game freak made things much easier! I can make a team in like an hour" generations and it still took 10s of hours WITH good rng manips, it's crazy. All of this for a character select screen with extra steps. Pokémon is stuck at the same barrier of entry issues since the 2000s and props to you for being one of the only people who point this out.
Hey Blisy, great video as usual. I've been looking through your HGSS RNG manip videos and I really want to try them. However, I don't know how to find my secret ID since I do not want to restart my game. I've seen that you need to catch a legit shiny to find the SID online. Do you know any other ways or places I could find it?
hopefully come gen 10 they make the vitamins so cheap you have the max amount each and you can actually cheaply buy feathers which would be nice, and the bottle caps be a slider on how much points do you want to add from 0 to 31. And have the levels be the same with the candies, this way the player base have to do their raids, which are fun TBH. They can even lock it with post game, if they really want to keep it as an RPG (Which it isn't and shouldn't be). And ya’ll can’t say they don’t do this, considering how much watts you get from the post game and how instant they give the judge function now. This way, they can keep the casual fanbase happy, and the competitive fanbase happy as well. It basically makes it so you have sliders on an actual Pokémon game. You want to drip your casuals to your hardcore fans, and simplifying mechanics like these and making them accessible would really help. We all want to build the team in game instead of doing some sliders in Showdown. The problem now then becomes the pay to win system. At the very least, if they're available to be used in game, add them in the DLC. Make it so you only need to buy a DLC instead of buying another game. If they really want the "expanded dex" hype. Nobody has to buy Violet just so they can get a Miraidon, if you plan to add them in the game, put them in the game. Kinda scummy still that it's locked behind a DLC paywall, but that filth is easier to accept than requiring to buy a new game. And for everyone arguing that this only benefits VGC competitors? The point is to keep them playing this game, to get them hooked for the next game and nothing keeps players playing than an actual competitive scene.
I used to play World of Warcraft and there was an economy for people who would log in to alt characters and level them up to max if you were too busy to do it yourself but wanted to do top level PVP/PVE. I'm honestly surprised that there isn't a market for professional Pokemon breeders who literally just get paid to breed, train, and grind Pokemon for competitive players honestly.
I try to always do restricted formats because I find them the most egregious. 2011 didn’t do it because it was my first one, and SV didn’t do it because we don’t know the format
i dont know if its been mentioned yet, but i believe synchronize and by proxy cute charm, only work if they are active when the pokemon is called in during the sos
Sorta interesting that the gen 7 GTS seems more broken than the older games lmao, i remember using the Diamond/Pearl and Black/White GTS all the time, sure there was a lot of hacked mons and unrealistic trades (like bidoofs for arceus lol) but i still have a lot of good memories using it and never encountered any issues back then. I remember i got a lvl 76 JP emolga in b/w (probably from someones actual team) after wanting one really bad as a kid but not being able to find it, i was so happy and thankful i eventually got it up to lvl 100 lol, whoever traded me was a real one. I hope it wasn't as broken at launch cuz those kids would be missing out on the fun, was such a great feature.
"Lucky for me, I don't have to play all the way through Ultra Sun" Me, going after a living dex and needing to play up to RR in Ultra Moon: that must be nice. But seriously, it is very hard to get version exclusives in old gens now and it's sad to see.
genuinely, I think playing Ultra Sun would be better. For Lunala and Stakataka: You get a cosmog you can evolve. Trade it to a friend, have them evolve it and trade it back Stakataka respawns infinitely and as such, is less valuable than a groudon. The GTS, even if it didn't work, would be a more viable option. Other than that, however, it would be a lot easier to trade for it through web forums
The GTS worked fine for me back then, the real problem was that some hackers did stupid things with it (Like wanting a male magnemite or a level 1 Raikou) and since only they are the ones that are left they probably used a sort of glitch to make the game crash. Back in the sun and moon days I really enjoyed GTS and it also worked, its just that sun and moon are basically dead right now and nobody uses it anymore
I’m so glad these games moved away from doing the “Third expansion” release every generation. The way Sword/Shield handled legnedaries was far more friendly towards competitive players. Other than Zacian/Zamazenta (who were given out as events to players before VGC 2022 began), there are no true version exclusive legendaries. The ones in Dynamax Adventures can be obtained if you team up with someone who has the opposite version. Only gripe with this is that to get a second Urshifu forms, both Regieleki/Regidrago and Spectrier/Glastrier, you would have to play through the whole game twice.
Ultra moon is my favorite game, and now I now how to build a competitive team. Only thing that sucks is I lost about 100 Pokémon in my dex to a save error and gonna have to recatch them all first Edit: The gts crashing is from inserted glitch Pokémon and most of them are from an account named Japan.Kebuji. A way to get around this by asking for a Groudon and depositing a Pokémon and it should be traded in under 24 hours. The main problem with that though is you will most likely get a hacked shiny which kinda ruins the fun
With the GTS dying currently due to 3ds shop being dead, the GTS was a mistake. Everything on there was insane. People wanted your version exclusive legend for a route 1 bug. Hate the GTS.

AINT that the truth!!
At least the new games give you two copies of the box art. Not perfect but it’s a start lol.

SV handled the legendaries decently well imo, in terms of acquisition

i remember when sun and moon came out, i rushed the game in 4 days and started grinding for VGC. first premier challenge was in like 2 weeks and i barely made it, signing up 20 minutes late, after not sleeping that night because of breeding and leveling up Tapu Koko and Celesteela, and with an itemless marowak and Attract arcanine
I 6-0'd the swiss rounds, was a senior back then and didn't have top cut. one of my proudest tournaments to this day

I’ve posted one a month since July 2022

With my very superficial understanding of how competitive team building worked in these generations I can safely say that I definitely had no idea how unnecessarily absurd it really was.
I got lost at least three times I think but I enjoyed these deep dive videos quite a bit.
Glad you enjoyed it. I try to make them as easy to understand as I can, but some prerequisite about what ivs are and stuff is needed
Thoroughly enjoyed the deep dive down memory lane with USUM team building. Another great piece to the collection, I hope it bangs!
You and me both!
I'm 8 minutes in and this journey already sounds like a major headache. This is why I quit competitive play in Pokemon.
2:16 dang
that screenshot goes CRAZY. I honestly respect the Pokemon company for not going to crazy on "cracking the whip" as it were
Love how imperative Elgyem is to the entire team-building process, with regards to Legendaries - nice to see my favorite Pokémon shine in such a unique way. 😭
I agree, I liked synchro a lot too.
I think that BDSP still has those out of battle effects. I know for sure that Synchronize turns all of the Grand Underground' current room Pokémon's natures into the user's, if I'm not mistaken.
Still got my full box of every nature of Elgyem in my copy of SM :')
As much as I like Hp, I think just giving coverage moves / Tera was the play. Funny enough, HP fire was the first thing I ever rngd lol.
I'm only 1min in and you replayed my favorite scene from teambuilding videos - throwing Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl in the trash. I'm sold!!!
Perfecf
I wish i had a physical copy so i could do that, ig i get a tiny amount of use by rng maniping
It's probably been mentioned before, but Pelipper doesn't have the Lucky Egg in Gen 7, Blissey does. So when you were grinding those Blissey's you could've been Thiefing them for Lucky Eggs :'3 (It's a 5% chance, but still)
I'm glad they made things way easier on gen 9, skipping breeding and even ev training is amazing
Definitely!
You can buy heart scales in the restaurants throughout Alola.
it would probably be forgetting a move a mon can only learn from a previous gen, and having to re-rng a new mon to get that move back if you already transfered that mon and then did the accidental "move-forgetting"
@@imablisy dang that stinks
Alola? Slow and clunky? Impossible! Great video, I still think Gamefreak should just make a seperate game purely for competitive team building/vgc, instead of putting it all in the main series titles
How i miss the pokepelago, just to get more berries and pasively train when i was in med school.
I wish we had something like that in the newer games
Sw/Sh did had PokeJobs *but* it was literally only for EV training and levels (which there's a exploit/glitch that still works to this day)
that and you can only put in up to 10 Pokemon IIRC
@@goGothitaLOL I know for sure the EV ones allowed full boxes at least.
The thing about pokejobs is that you can only access it through the pokemon center, and it was pretty dependant on the type of job to ev traing a pokemon effectively, otherwise you had to reset to get the job you wanted, it was more fast to ev train with vitamins. The ability to open the pokepelago anywhere and to harvest berries was honestly the Best feature out of it, and the thermal waters help me alot with happiness dependent evolutions as well with spare eggs while shiny hunting, it just felt that it could have expanded the pokepelago concept but they didn't and just let the pokejobs there
Sorry i meant for the levels, the ev traning doesnt depend on the job,
Damn I remember that GTS bug when I completed the national dex in gen 7. I can't believe that's still there! If I understand correctly some players are able to put up bugged pokemon and once their trainer pic starts to load on the bottom screen it just crashes your 3DS.
I thought it was a custom text issue
Dear God, I’m so glad I only got into competitive this most recent gen. There’s no way I’d be able to handle any of this.
It can be rough but it was fun.
its really not that bad... most of it can be done passivly.
(still gotta watch those no/modified description hackers though)
I managed to finish my dex and am now Masuda-hunting a Greninja.
Still is pretty egregious how the Gen 6 and 7 trades are left that broken.
Glad you finally did gen 7! One of my favorite Pokémon games.
Hope you enjoy
Thx goodness someone else loves gen 7 like me!
i love gen 7 aswell, not sure why it gets so much hate. though pokemon fans seem to love garbage like sword and shield, scarlet and violet.
Good job as always with these types of videos man, praising the good pace of it, watched the whole 53 minutes without even noticing an hour already passed
And thank you for your sacrifice of having to play "the main story" of USUM twice.
Aren't Paradox Pokemon in gen 9 version exclusive (including the box legendaries)?
@@The_Sin Yup, but you can get multiple so it's not a big deal to get one from someone else. You can even get a second box legendary
I loved ultra warp ride, i thought it made legendary hunting fun. I certainly enjoyed the thrill.
This was such a well put together video gen 7 rng was where I first found your videos!!
I played sun and moon on week release and it was such a nice experience seeing the people in the plaza and installing stores...
i really liked the pokepelago wished more Pokémon games had a feature as fun and afk as that for levels/berries/items
i also played some online competitive on that gen but wasnt really good at it, just building teams of pokemons i like not caring about team composition or metas, good times.
That tauros fence area destroyed my 3ds's joystick. When I got a new 3ds I made sure to also buy a powersaves. What was gamefreak thinking??
They werent
I could not imagine trying to get the seed for eggs if you had already got an egg. Sounds like Hell
I was under the impression it was a text glitch

Shiny hunting is rough.

yes, but you're not dumb. You can do anything you set your mind to.
I'm not sure whether it was omitted because it wasn't pertinent to the topic of the video, but the GTS freezing is a known issue, because someone modded their system and has put up a bunch of trades, but because there's something with their profile that the game has difficulty rendering, it's almost impossible to get anything going on the GTS because of that
I talked about it freezing I just can’t find a concrete reason why
@@imablisy ah, sorry, I should have been a little more specific, I heard you mention the GTS freezing, but wasn't sure if you knew why. There's various topics on it all over the place.

That's why I included the section at the end. It's bad for this challenge but important for everything else.
Thanks very much. The game is slow
Yeah lol I love this stuff maybe I’m just an idiot
I miss gen 7. Definitely the 1st or 2nd best game in the series.
A couple of friends came in clutch with trading and exclusives
not using a lucky egg seems like a really odd omission considering probably everyone training competitive teams likely already have one.
They’re hard to get and I genuinely think it didn’t waste more that 10 minutes
Regarding easy bottlecaps, as mentioned the first day of a reset will always net you the 2nd place item in the treasure shop. But I noticed that after resetting the 3ds time, you'll be unable to use it for a day, but you'll also reset the rewards for the next day, meaning you can farm passively at least 1 silver bottlecap every 48 hours without the need for FC.
Well I managed to snag a few 5* shops as a day one players on both, so I secured the treasure shop with the gold bottlecap (have won it 3 or 4 times)
gen 7 has to be my favorite games to team build on... i dont even bother with the new games. i miss megas and z moves...
One thing about your Version Exclusives rant:
I agree 100% that Pokémon should not be paywalled behind having to buy another game.
Gen 7 was my first game, so I enjoy the dive down memory lane

The story is just not that interesting and it stops you a lot
Thanks for the video. Did you catch the Shiny Wingull?
I did! You're the first person to comment on it lol. It was like a chain of 5, so it was full odds.
This is definitely not the best. SV and SWSH are far faster and less painful than this.
Alright NOW I see it in the thumbnail
Love the vids bro
15:19 my ultra honest reaction to that information. Other than that i feel bad for not giving you my groudon that i catch in ultra sun, wich is not had perfect ivs but since i don't play the game in years i could give you an Gold bottle cap just for free
it's okay buddy
I still think doing 5 at a time with lucky eggs is slow as fuck. I used to do it all the time, I hyper trained a lot!
I was just reminiscing on these videos just yesterday and a new one appears in my feed like a blessing. I Adore your videos.

hopefully come gen 10 they make the vitamins so cheap you have the max amount each and you can actually cheaply buy feathers which would be nice, and the bottle caps be a slider on how much points do you want to add from 0 to 31.
I always look forward to these videos and i always love them. Thank you so much for putting yourself through such tedious activities for our amusement
Glad you enjoy
Can we appreciate how much thought and effort goes into his videos

You should compare like, 2017 and 2018 as well. Might have different results because those teams had fewer legendaries.
I try to always do restricted formats because I find them the most egregious. 2011 didn’t do it because it was my first one, and SV didn’t do it because we don’t know the format
Don't worry: I watched this whole video without blinking to help.
Ahh the memories of the first in-game community goals failing miserably
i dont know if its been mentioned yet, but i believe synchronize and by proxy cute charm, only work if they are active when the pokemon is called in during the sos
Time for the Let's go pikachu and eevee team builder
"Lucky for me, I don't have to play all the way through Ultra Sun" Me, going after a living dex and needing to play up to RR in Ultra Moon: that must be nice. But seriously, it is very hard to get version exclusives in old gens now and it's sad to see.
genuinely, I think playing Ultra Sun would be better. For Lunala and Stakataka:
You get a cosmog you can evolve. Trade it to a friend, have them evolve it and trade it back
Stakataka respawns infinitely and as such, is less valuable than a groudon. The GTS, even if it didn't work, would be a more viable option. Other than that, however, it would be a lot easier to trade for it through web forums
I just keep coming back to this great video again thanks for the content
Thanks
@@imablisy your welcome keep up the great work
The GTS worked fine for me back then, the real problem was that some hackers did stupid things with it (Like wanting a male magnemite or a level 1 Raikou) and since only they are the ones that are left they probably used a sort of glitch to make the game crash.
Yes, Dynamax adventures are a good solution. I am not sure event distros are good enough. The 2nd legend gift for trade is better in SV.
I didn't get your vid in my sub box for some reason I had to see if you made a vid and I missed it by 12 days breh... thanks RUclips
Ultra moon is my favorite game, and now I now how to build a competitive team. Only thing that sucks is I lost about 100 Pokémon in my dex to a save error and gonna have to recatch them all first
Edit: The gts crashing is from inserted glitch Pokémon and most of them are from an account named Japan.Kebuji.
Used to Team Build in Gen 7 constantly, and Poke Pelago made it so easy.
