I have heard this many, many times but never listened like I do when Angelina sings.
She is a Genius who makes you take the time to listen to the words.
What is so remarkable is that the piano backing is an off the shelf version by PianoNest and she just transforms it.
I never liked jazz in my life but now has come along a singer that has changed my mind. This Angelina Jordan has totally transformed everything she sings into perfection. I am astounded by this young woman!!
Same... I never appreciated jazz before Angelina... nor crooner-style music... but when either (or any genre) is sung by her I love it... It is remarkable !
Nice reaction Carlie. Note that Angelina hardly moves a muscle during this rendition...no dancing, no grabbing herself, certainly no glove, just monochromatic sets, simple instrumentation, and her voice (in a jazzy style). It is as though she is saying (without saying), I can tell the story with just vocals such that you'll hear the words for maybe the first time...even against the King of Pop. Angelina is a beast like that, in her sweet way!

Last September Jonathan Moffit flew in to LA to meet her and she sang this and I Have Nothing for him, he was Michaels drummer for 30 years.

I noticed that Angelina is singing a song by Michael Jackson, the singer, but that she doesn't compete with Michael Jackson, the dancer. She just sits there, not moving except for a toe tap here and there, with her arm wrapped around her waist. Her voice is all we need. Thanks Carlie!

Sweetness, emotion, soul, love, are all ingredients absolutely present in her voice, Angelina uniquely embodies the charm of naturalness, she is an inexhaustible source of musical poetry, regardless of the genre and style she interprets. I loved that Angelina made this rendition very sweet, slow and moving, she manages to sink us into the song in an even deeper way than Michael's original. I love her very much her stripped versions of her, of the classic songs that she chooses, it could be safely said that Angelina is never what you expect, she is always beyond, she is outside the standard, however high those can be. 💛 🧡 ❤

Hi Carlie! Thank you for another grand reaction to Angelina. I can't think of any other singer, regardless of age who would have the audacity or courage or musical intelligence to transform an iconic Pop, song into a jazz number.
I enjoyed Jazz before Angelina, now i absolutely love it. Every time Angelina sings it feels like she is singing just to you, it's amazing how Angelina draws you in and makes you feel like part of the performance, makes you feel so good.😊🌏

@@poolhallshark I did listen to Jesse's version which was unique, powerful with a lot of soul. It's amazing how a well written song can be arrange beautifully in many different ways. AJ's version is still my favorite, however!

Thanks for checking it out 🙂 Jesse had everything going for him, but was struck with brain cancer, from which he barely survived, losing a lot of motor skills and what not. However, he just held a comeback concert consisting of 15 songs, even with a few originals, so he seems to be back. His concert is even being streamed by EventBrite, the same company that did Angelina's Christmas concert 🙂

Who would have thought a Jazzy version of Billie Jean could work. I bought Thriller the year it came out and dance and hummed along with it. The whole album was amazing. It took this slowed down, jazzed up version for me to really hear the lyrics and the story. Angelina’s version is more laid back and makes me bob my head to it, grab a beer and relax. Where Michael’s version is full of movement and dance, Angelina in contrast nearly doesn’t move at all. The change of colours and light has some similarity to the tiles lighting up. Indeed very different and at same time you still a beautiful tribute to the original. Thanks!

I love how AJ can take a song like this that although I love the original version, I never really paid that much attention to the actual meaning of the song. AJ slows it down and changes it up so that not only do I get the true meaning of the song, but I can feel the words if that makes sense.

While I'm sure I've heard the original more times than I can recall - when Angelina sings it, I actually heard all the lyrics for once. You definitely picked up on her "sassy" delivery.
