being that she is a jazz singer at heart and is able to penetrate the human soul deeper than
any non-jazz singer could ever hope to to.
Everything you said resonates with me Sabina. I am 70 years old, and have waited this long to hear the best singer I have ever heard, IMHO. There are many great singers out there, but none can bridge that space between my heart and my soul like Angelina can. In these horrible times, God has gifted us this Voice as a sanctuary to revive our spirits. Thanks for the truly thoughtful reaction.

Discovering Angelina was a life altering and spiritual experience for me. Her extraordinarily mature vocal ability is beyond comprehension for a person her age.
I think one of the more compelling things about Angelina's music is that it seem that in each performance she shows us something new. So many singers sing in a particular way and even though the lyrics may change, everything else is pretty much the same, the same tone, same embellishments, etc. Some other singers seem to try to show off and shove every trick they have into each and every song, while Angelina just uses the particular techniques that she feels best expresses the meaning behind the particular song. Sometimes simple and delicate and sometimes very loud and raw. She seems to have complete control of her voice and can produce exactly the sound she wants and make it appear easy.
You've summed up the difference between Angelina and "the rest" very well. Apart from three young sopranos I follow several other young singers, and although I find their voices pleasant I know before they start singing how they will phrase the song; at what point they will start belting; when they will drop to a softer tone and gain the feeling that they are doing it purely for themselves, whereas Angelina’s sole intent is to sing the song in such a way that the full emotions are conveyed to the listener. In the 7 years I have been listening to her, she has never performed a song in such a way that suggests she is saying "Look how good I am".
Angelina’s voice and her total being is like an ocean wave or soft summer breeze that takes you in and rushes you to places you have rarely experienced. Your heart rate increases, you find it difficult to catch your breath, chills and shells engulf you. You are now addicted to Angelina Jordan.
One detail about the story of the shoes, she not only performs barefoot as a tribute to poor children, and helps to raise millions for the cause, she GAVE her own favorite shoes to that little girl, on the spot! You've heard the old saying to describe a generous person, he'd give you the shirt off his back", Angelina literally embodies that level of goodness and generosity. It shines in another of her MJ covers "Heal the World", a heartfelt performance.
I find this version far more interesting than the original, both have a place in the music libraries of the world.
I love the way you express your adoration of Angelina, it's a sincere, emotionally intelligent approach regarding the person as well as the artist...Sabina, consider reacting to " My Funny Valentine ". Yes Sabin, Angelina catch us all from the moment she open her mouth singing. She never show off, being very humble, putting her artistic song in the center. Her dedication to whatever she deliver just drug us with her into the moment. Just amazing!

That's why she can sing exposed with such little backing. Very, very good singers can study voice and achieve technical mastery at a very high level, 99%. But, you can still hear many of the slightest imperfections in their singing. It seems that Angelina achieves another 99% mastery beyond these individuals. That's the refinement that sets her apart. Add to that her buttery tone and stunning musicality, and Angelina simply distances herself from so many of her contemporaries. ... Thanks Sabina. Totally agree with everything you say. Hopefully, she will tell the video and sound engineers that she doesn't require their services and Republic Records understand that she will be just another "run-of-the-mill" singer if they think such artefacts are required.

As one of my favorite reactors, you may want to try a pair of short vocal experiments that Angelina has performed on her TikTok account: Adele's Love is a Game and Harry Styles' Sign of the Times. Each is a virtual gem of vocal technique and feeling that just blows the mind and warms the heart!
Marvelous reaction. I agree completely with your characterization that Angelina's music just seems to put the listener at ease because of her effortless and confident delivery and smooth connections between phrases. Her voice and her use of vocal techniques is perfectly tuned to sound like a close friend or confidant telling you a story while sitting in the living room in front of a crackling fireplace with a cup of hot coffee or tea. I have marveled at the choices she makes in her musical arrangements that you could not imagine if someone tried to describe it to you, but once you hear it, it just makes perfect sense. The two main examples are her re-imagining of Bohemian Rhapsody and this one - Billie Jean. I could not imagine what "Jazzy MJ cover" meant until I heard it and then it just sounded like that is how the song should always have been. Keep up the great work on these reactions. As a singer with minimalist backing instruments, there is nowhere to hide if your voice isn’t up to it. Strange also how some songs sound better in a completely different genre…pop to jazz as in this case. Not many smoke filled jazz clubs these days (I’m not complaining) but even in a smoke free environment, this lady would capture everyone’s attention. A classic song sung in a jazz style by someone who I suspect has a penchant for jazz music. Another great post Sabina.

Me again. Sabina, in her online shop you can buy and download her book in English. part of the money goes to charitable cases. I can only recommend it. I read the book and was gobsmaked. The words and the phrases she uses are beyond many grown ups. No she did it by herself, the paintings are by her grandma, she took the text directly from her diaries. About the "Jazz Bar", I believe when she begins her worldwide Concert tours there will be a segment during the Concert when the stage is set up to resemble exactly that. In fact, I'm going to guess right now it will be the highlight of the Concert. My only concern is that I'm alert to watch it and recovered from the fainting spell I will experience when she first appears on the stage!

The Story behind the bare feet is actually so much more than what I've heard from many people who react to her music mention. Which in my opinion is more amazing than her talent. She actually tells the story in an interview...She and the poor girl talk at length, and she asked the girl what she wants to be when she grows up, and the girl replies that she would like to be a doctor. But that it would never happen because her parents were dead, and she has siblings to care for. Then the girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be and she replied a superstar. The girl told Angelina that she would pray for her. And Angelina promised, either to herself or to the girl, not sure which, that she would NEVER wear shoes while performing until all the children of the world had shoes. As far as I can tell she has held true to that promise. Of all the amazing things that can be said of this young lady, to me nothing raises above the fact that the entire world would be a better place if we could match even a fraction of the heart, soul, and dedication she showed before she was ever a in the public eye. Looking at all the artist in all the world, not a single one comes close to what we have before us. An angel in voice and action. I'd probably write a novel on her if I could, lol...But she does it better in her music, which is a gift to us all...I just hope nothing ever spoils such a wonderous gift to the world.

From her interview with American Songwriter: As fans have come to know, Jordan likes to perform barefoot, in honor of a young girl she met when was 6 who didn’t have any shoes. Ever since the young singer gave that girl her shoes, she’s performed without wearing her own. ......“I want to remind myself that there are less fortunate people around the world who need help,” she says. “It is a great reminder for me.”.....There are also numerous clips on YT where she repeats this explanation of her gesture.

Angelina is quite the artist, she seems to capture us such that there is no defense (not that we really want to find one anyways). This is another masterpiece where she completely re-invents the song (like she did with Bohemian Rhapsody). She touched my heart and soul (excuse cliches) from the very first listen when I came across her close to 5 years ago. She is like since age 7 or so publicly, not only a generational talent, but multi-generational, historically so profound. And I've been watching this arena of POP/ROCK music, whatever it is, since Elvis (I was VERY young & influenced by an older girl cousin, bless you Bobbie Bianchini) ...
