Samantha, what I find so interesting is that she doesn't make the songs different because she wants to make them her own. She makes them her own because that's the way she is interpreting the lyrics to the song and she is so genuine we believe that while she is singing. There is a list of a hundred qualities she possesses which make her so unique and, to me, that is just one of them.
Samantha I think Angelina was singing from Billie Jean's perspective and I now feel like I truly understand the story the song was meant to convey. So sorry for the loss of your beloved Nana. In reality, I prefer to think that it is not bias, but a realisation that we have been fortunate enough to find Angelina and to watch and listen to her. The main reason I listed those who have covered some of Angelina's songs was so that you, and whoever reads the comment, are aware that other singers find them worthy of adding them to their own repertoire.
I recommend you stick with her recent releases in the last year, since she signed with Republic Records. They are Million Miles (you will cry, but it is very healing). 7th Heaven (Jazzy original inspirational song), All I Ask (emotional Adele cover), Heal The World (emotional song for the times & MJ cover), When You Believe (a power house Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey cover that she transforms into an emotional prayer with her whisper singing), Yesterday (a jazzy/pop version of the Beatles song) & Billie Jean which you did. Then while you wait for her upcoming album of originals like the rest of us, you will have time to go back to her earlier videos. Great reaction, this is my latest favorite.
