Hey I vacuum pool and it's clean... after filter runs at night I notice dirt comes right back in the pool, re circulated from, the filter/pump... what can possibly be the cause of this? It is a cartridge filter system

Hi Matk I'm a new pool owner (came with the house and I am learning thanks to your videos!!) Do I keep the filter on as filter when I vacuum? When do I use the "waste" setting? Thank you again for all of your help! ❤
For normal cleaning you will vacuum in the filter position. If a pool is really dirty or algae infested then you would vacuum in the waste position. When vacuuming in waste you will have to add water to the pool.
When I do mine I have it filled an inch above the max line and i can usually only vacuum for 14 min then the water is to low for the pump to work near or under the min so then I spend 2 hours filling it does that sound right does everyone have that problem? Suggestions?
Normally when you vacuum, you vacuum in the filter position. If you vacuum on waste, you will lose water in the pool. You only vacuum on waste when the pool is extremely dirty.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies that makes sense. Google said it puts unnecessary stuff in your sand filter but ill doube check the manual. Your way makes alot more sense. Thank you!

What is the vacuum plate number on the one you're using? Also what brand is the vacuum head that you're using? I prime my hose differently than your do-I prime mine in front of the return jet, and keep it and the connected vacuum plate underwater the entire time I'm connecting it. I absolutely hate the vacuum plates that came with the pools though because of that swivel removable neck part on it-that 1 part coming apart while I'm vacuuming has caused me to lose prime a dozen times.
The vacuum plate used in the video is an aqua leader vacuum plate which is no longer in production. Olympic is the company that now makes these plates. If you have a Hayward skimmer, the most common plate you're going to use is: www.hallmarkpoolsupplies.com/p-22882-25573-510-000-skim-vac.aspx The vacuum head used in the video is: www.hallmarkpoolsupplies.com/search.aspx?searchterm=K048cb%2Fscp If you're having a problem with the vacuum hose coming off the vacuum head, then you may need to replace the vacuum hose, or clamp the vacuum hose to the head.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies Thanks for your reply. I'm looking for a vacuum plate with a one piece straight adapter on it this time :) Do you have a part number for one of those? I'm looking at the Hayward SP1106 but need to make sure it isn't too big around. I've used the other one for years, and as long as I'm very careful not to pull my hose too far, in order to not turn it at the adapter part all goes well. The one I have the vacuum hose isn't what is coming off, it's the angled adapter being able to separate from the base. It's like that I guess to allow it to swivel, but when it does the 2 pieces of the vacuum plate (the adapter and the base) come apart from each other, and that then causes it to lose prime because the adapter part with the hose still connected to it floats up just enough from the base part section to mess up the vacuuming of the pool. LOL they are a royal PITA, and it generally decides to come apart when I'm on the far side of the pool where I moved the hose too much. I've actually considered duct taping the adapter in place to prevent it from moving at all, but have never tried to see if that might help the problem. I might actually try that before replacing it. Thanks again for you help, and have a great day!!!

I have an above ground pool and the skimmer hangs on it, on the side of the pool it's not attached to the pump. How can I clean it with a vacuum? I currently have a handheld but now purchased one with a hose and cant connect :(
Every time I vacuum, I get these air bubbles in the filter and I have to remove the lid and get soaked to fill it fully back up. But when I turn the pump back on, sometimes it just happens again.
It sounds like you might be sucking air, you want to make sure you have an air tight seal. If your hose, lid, housing and o-ring are okay then you may need to backwash and rinse the filter thoroughly. Thanks for watching.
For regular vacuuming, you put it in the filter position. You can vacuum on waste in extreme cases when the pool is dirty and you want to bypass the filter.
