  • @crackerjack4u
    @crackerjack4u 4 года назад +3

    What is the vacuum plate number on the one you're using? Also what brand is the vacuum head that you're using? I prime my hose differently than your do-I prime mine in front of the return jet, and keep it and the connected vacuum plate underwater the entire time I'm connecting it. I absolutely hate the vacuum plates that came with the pools though because of that swivel removable neck part on it-that 1 part coming apart while I'm vacuuming has caused me to lose prime a dozen times.

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  4 года назад +2

      The vacuum plate used in the video is an aqua leader vacuum plate which is no longer in production. Olympic is the company that now makes these plates. If you have a Hayward skimmer, the most common plate you're going to use is: www.hallmarkpoolsupplies.com/p-22882-25573-510-000-skim-vac.aspx
      The vacuum head used in the video is: www.hallmarkpoolsupplies.com/search.aspx?searchterm=K048cb%2Fscp
      If you're having a problem with the vacuum hose coming off the vacuum head, then you may need to replace the vacuum hose, or clamp the vacuum hose to the head.

    • @crackerjack4u
      @crackerjack4u 4 года назад

      @@HallmarkPoolSupplies Thanks for your reply. I'm looking for a vacuum plate with a one piece straight adapter on it this time :) Do you have a part number for one of those? I'm looking at the Hayward SP1106 but need to make sure it isn't too big around.
      I've used the other one for years, and as long as I'm very careful not to pull my hose too far, in order to not turn it at the adapter part all goes well.
      The one I have the vacuum hose isn't what is coming off, it's the angled adapter being able to separate from the base. It's like that I guess to allow it to swivel, but when it does the 2 pieces of the vacuum plate (the adapter and the base) come apart from each other, and that then causes it to lose prime because the adapter part with the hose still connected to it floats up just enough from the base part section to mess up the vacuuming of the pool. LOL they are a royal PITA, and it generally decides to come apart when I'm on the far side of the pool where I moved the hose too much.
      I've actually considered duct taping the adapter in place to prevent it from moving at all, but have never tried to see if that might help the problem. I might actually try that before replacing it. Thanks again for you help, and have a great day!!!

      If this is an above ground pool and you have a sand filter, it sounds like you need to backwash and rinse the system thoroughly. 25 psi is high for starting pressure. As far as a green pool, take a water sample to your local pool store and have it tested so you can get the proper chemicals. Thanks for watching.

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  Год назад +1

      It depends on the system that you have and the size of the pump on the system. You could also have a clogged pump or your filter needs to be cleaned, these are a few different things that can cause weak suction. Thanks for watching.

    • @bobbyr2972
      @bobbyr2972 Год назад

      @@HallmarkPoolSupplies ok I just set up the pump recently and vacuumed once so it should be good. But maybe it's because I removed the door and pushed the vacuum head from the inside of the pool into the skimmer instead of how you did it from the outside?

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  Год назад

      When hooking up the vacuum it is important to get a good tight seal. It is also important to have the stationary end of the vacuum hose hooked to the skimmer and the swivel end of the hose hooked to the vacuum head.

    Quick question
    I put in a new little bucket down on the ground where the pump is it’s full of Pineneedles. My neighbor told me I could not take the lid off or I would never get it back on that it’s holding the pressure of all the water in the above ground pool I’m not talking about the skimmer bucket. I’m talking about the little bucket down below next to the pump . It has Pineneedles in it and I was just wondering how do you get that off? My neighbor said I would never be able to get it back on if I didn’t put Vaseline around it and I don’t remember if we did or not it was last year I wish I could take a video and show you what I’m talking About. If you have a sand filter, turn off the pump and plug the skimmer and put your multiport valve on closed. By doing this you can open the lid and clean your pump basket without getting wet, you can also lube your o-ring, this will make it easier to open in the future. When your done, remove your plug from the skimmer and put your valve back on filter and you will be good to go. Thanks for watching.

    What setting is your filter on when you vacuum?

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  3 года назад +1

      For regular vacuuming, you put it in the filter position. You can vacuum on waste in extreme cases when the pool is dirty and you want to bypass the filter.

    When I do mine I have it filled an inch above the max line and i can usually only vacuum for 14 min then the water is to low for the pump to work near or under the min so then I spend 2 hours filling it does that sound right does everyone have that problem? Suggestions?

      Normally when you vacuum, you vacuum in the filter position. If you vacuum on waste, you will lose water in the pool. You only vacuum on waste when the pool is extremely dirty.

    Isn't air entering the pipe when you take the hose with vacuum plate out of the pool and into skimmer??

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  6 месяцев назад

      @@wambam12 A little air won’t hurt anything, in fact the air will go through the system back to the pool. Thanks for watching.

    I have an above ground pool and the skimmer hangs on it, on the side of the pool it's not attached to the pump. How can I clean it with a vacuum? I currently have a handheld but now purchased one with a hose and cant connect :(

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  2 года назад +1

      For normal cleaning you would vacuum in the filter position, pools that are really dirty or algae infested you would vacuum in the waste position. When vacuuming in waste you will have to add water to the pool.
