I like how this guy explains stuff. He gets right down to business! He doesn't waste time talking about his life, how his day was, etc. unlike some amateur utubers. And he is very clear in his explanations and he keeps it simple. Thanks Hallmark Pools!
I agree. This is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. The original vacuum that came with the pool broke on its first use, and came with a bunch of different parts and pieces that don't fit anywhere.
Mark, I am a new pool owner and I went searching on RUclips for a video to show me how to hook up the vacuum. I found your video and I must say that it was the best I found! I am all about the easiest. THANK YOU for posting this excellent video!
Excellent video!!! I haven't vacuumed a pool since I was a kid and he made it easy with step by step directions anybody could follow. AND Hallmark is right up the road (within driving distance) from where I live in South Carolina!! You have just made a new customer Mark!! Thank you for your help!!
Thank you for this video new pool owner and still trying to learn all the things I need to. This video is so simple and straight to the point anyone could follow it!!! PERFECT!
We got a new house with a 18,000 gallon pool with 0 pool experience and the previous owners closed the pool with a leaf cover.... this video helps tremendously thank you!!
I also got the same experience. The previous owner kept a 24ft round pool for me with damaged Sand filter with heads with old pump. We changed the sand filter with new Hayward one and using the old pump. Need to start vaccuming.
I am not making this up, I had to come here to say, you are literally the very first RUclips how to that I not only understood, but was clear, concise, and to the point💯, I’m 5 foot 1,so I thought it would be harder, it wasn’t , so from Florida ,a truly truly big thank you, 😇I love doing things myself without bothering my roofer husband😂,,✌🏻😎
Great video! Only question it didn't answer for me is what to set the Vari-Flo to for vacuuming. Mine does not have that as an option. The rest is perfect - detail, concise, and demonstrated. Thanks!
Bro explained it so well! The guy that sold me the pool made it seem so complicated makes me think that he just wanted me to buy the $600 robot vacuum 🙃
Thank you for this! This answer all of my questions except one: I don't have a waste setting on my filter, only filter, backwash, rinse and winter. What is the correct filter setting for vacuuming a pool?
When vacuuming you will be in the filter position. After vacuuming you can backwash for about 1 minute and then rinse for about 30 seconds. If needed you can repeat. Thanks for watching.
If this is an above ground pool and you have a sand filter, it sounds like you need to backwash and rinse the system thoroughly. 25 psi is high for starting pressure. As far as a green pool, take a water sample to your local pool store and have it tested so you can get the proper chemicals. Thanks for watching.
It depends on the system that you have and the size of the pump on the system. You could also have a clogged pump or your filter needs to be cleaned, these are a few different things that can cause weak suction. Thanks for watching.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies ok I just set up the pump recently and vacuumed once so it should be good. But maybe it's because I removed the door and pushed the vacuum head from the inside of the pool into the skimmer instead of how you did it from the outside?
When hooking up the vacuum it is important to get a good tight seal. It is also important to have the stationary end of the vacuum hose hooked to the skimmer and the swivel end of the hose hooked to the vacuum head.
Hi sir Quick question I put in a new little bucket down on the ground where the pump is it’s full of Pineneedles. My neighbor told me I could not take the lid off or I would never get it back on that it’s holding the pressure of all the water in the above ground pool I’m not talking about the skimmer bucket. I’m talking about the little bucket down below next to the pump . It has Pineneedles in it and I was just wondering how do you get that off? My neighbor said I would never be able to get it back on if I didn’t put Vaseline around it and I don’t remember if we did or not it was last year I wish I could take a video and show you what I’m talking About. Thank you so much Houston Texas.
If you have a sand filter, turn off the pump and plug the skimmer and put your multiport valve on closed. By doing this you can open the lid and clean your pump basket without getting wet, you can also lube your o-ring, this will make it easier to open in the future. When your done, remove your plug from the skimmer and put your valve back on filter and you will be good to go. Thanks for watching.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies so I turn the entire pump off, but I don’t know where the plug for the skimmer is. I did put the multi port valve on closed, but I still opened it, and water just poured out massively my neighbor quickly, stuck his hand in there and took out all the Pineneedles and quickly put the lid back on with the pouring water. Luckily we got it back on. We just could not do the Vaseline around the O-ring at that moment.
Having a plug for the skimmer helps, there is also a ball valve available and it screws into the front of the pump, and is easy to put on. If you need lube, a plug or a valve, I have these items on my website. Do you keep it on the filter setting or do you turn it to back wash?
You keep it on filter when you vacuum the pool. When you are finished then backwash and rinse.

Can you vacuum on filter mode or it has to be on wasted?
Normally you vacuum in the filter position. In extreme cases where the pool is very dirty, you can vacuum to waste to bypass the filter.
