On this new album Ólafsson presents some of his favourite Mozart keyboard works in the company of pieces by a selection of the composer’s contemporaries.
These contemporaries included C.P.E Bach, Haydn, Galuppi and Domenico Cimarosa, the composer of this particular track. “Perhaps all four provide a chance to calibrate the contemporary ear towards the prevailing ideas, styles and tastes of the times”, comments Ólafsson. “It is my hope that this particular context, a mix of the celebrated and the obscure, can slightly alter our psychological attunement, removing some of the baggage we all bring with us to Mozart’s music. This is in any case what I set out to do for myself: to approach even the best-known works of Mozart with the same freedom and childlike enthusiasm I felt upon discovering the rare and staggeringly lyrical works from the likes of Galuppi and Cimarosa.”

Olafsson is quickly becoming one of my favorite pianists. His interpretations are extremely clean and technically great, but he's not compromising on interpretation. Truly the stuff of greatness right there :D
Completely agree with you! Víkingur is an exceptional talent. He plays like an angel. The best concert pianist of the last 30 years for me. My ambition is to hear him play live.

His translucent style is perfect for Mozart .
Definition of a true pianist! Not a butcher! To the likes of Brendel and Gulda, Uchida or Gould. He blends those 4 pianists’ styles into one mutant
I thought I played this reasonably well until I heard Mr Ólafsson and now I think I'd better try a lot harder. This guy's interpretation and technical mastery are awesome.

@@abraxalito Possible. Naked concrete is not the best material for recording, and I don't see any microphones. But who cares, the sound is what matters.

A very skillful execution but I find too fast.
The original tempo
It’s so good
It may be on the faster side, but I think it still works very well, especially the 2nd subject and the closing theme. They have this sort of Mozartian quality you usually tend to see in his concerti and it makes nice contrast to the minor and more dramatic parts. I like the tempo very much. It is a great choice. Sounds more like the operas :))
Would have benefited from some well tempered haste. I'd rather settle for Sokolov or Brendel 🤔
Not good at all, lacks real depth and tonal variety of touch… student grade at best…Nothing more than quality videography / people need to stop listening with their eyes / This is the musical equivalent of cardboard
