Nevertheless, people with low blood pressure, should go see a medical doctor to determine the cause, especially if symptomatic that include blood tests, EKG, and maybe even a tilt table test.

I am so sorry to hear of your families struggles. Neurofibromatosis-1 is a genetic condition that results in slow growing tumors. I am not aware of any specific studies on food for NF-1 but there is a FDA approved medication called Selumetinib that has shown positive tumor regression that you can ask your neurologist about. This drug is a mitogen-activated protein kinase inhibitor/ RAS pathway which interferes with the tumors signaling. Although no specific food or diet has been studied for the NF condition, edible common whole plants contain phytonutrients (ie in whole foods like vegetables, seeds, beans, nuts, fruit, roots grains etc) that has been shown in lab studies to inhibit abnormal cell proliferation, although not specific to NF, but affecting the RAS/mTOR pathways such as curcumin (turmeric), EGCG (green tea), quercetin (apples, onions etc), genistein (soy), lycopene (tomatoes), there are lots of others. Variety is important and it's important to check with your own person healthcare provider before you make any dietary changes and work with a nutritionist to make sure your child is meeting the caloric needs to grow and that simple well established nutrients for health like vitamin d, b vitamins etc are adequate. But the total stress on a person's body (sleep quality, exercise, toxin exposure, nutrients, mental health, infections etc) is also very important in determining how much one needs. However onions are packed with Quercitin, they help reduce the glycemic index in meals and the prebiotics in onions are excellent foods for beneficial gut microbes which are grown in the gut over time through the foods eaten on a daily basisike gardening. So many people may need to start really slow and maybe eat a centimeter of an onion with food and over time work up to eating more.
