I mean, it will leave them on 1 life, so it's effectively killing them still lol
@@Lucrei. it also affect you though. Obosh says if a source you control would deal damage to A player, it is doubled. Since hidetsugu says each player, you will also kill youeself if you have even life. So you have to have odd life and everyone else will ideallly have even life

From an academic standpoint, that technically means he failed it the first time, so at best, I can only start him off at 3.14

Manson's deck was incredible - that's like everything I would ever want to do with Jeskai. Here's hoping he comes onto Game Knights! Great plays by Ashlen too, of course.
I've only just started watching, but I was thinking it's a shame he's not been knighted.
He needed some counter spells or search lib for instance/sorcery.
Counterspell dilute the deck plus it depends on your playgroup, I know mine hates playing against counterspell.
One of my favorite decks is my Saheeli the Gifted casino deck. It's full with polymorph effects and things that produce random results like Etali and Mind's Dilation. It's really fun.

I wouldn't mind losing life as long as other people do too if I play an aggressive deck! let the control player spend their removal, they're drawing more cards anyway.

Tbh, at the end, manson could have tried digging through some cards by activating xantcha on himself to draw for answers but thats just me lol
That's normally what I do when someone in a pod sends her my way. They tend get weirded out when I thank them and done myself with every open mana I have. I just think they never expect the targeted play to use it. After I draw 3 of 4 cards with it, someone else uses their removal on it so I stop drawing cards lol.
That and he should have gotten treasures from the Xantcha activations by Josh :)
Did I miss something or did he miss the extra lifeline from sephara and gisela?
@@jacobtroxel2387 good point, He should have gained 14 life since it did double damage, which would have put him out of range of of that spell.
Manson's deck is so unique. Like, Tim deck unique. I love it.
Why is hellkite in there he had 2 dragons in the deck did he have a arcane adaptation to change all his creatures to dragons because he went through almost his entire deck and I didn't see it so probably a self token generator over time

I think these "inhouse" gameplay videos are great. a) It's nice to see some of the people from behind the scenes and b) you can make sure everyone's safe cause you don't have to fly anyone in across the country which could potentially put someone at risk.
Big issue at end Gisela was out when Sephara dealt damage which means Manson should have healed up to 21 not 14
I don't really think Ashlen deserved to win. Manson's deck was dominating the whole time while Ashlen was kind of "just there" for the majority of the time
Ashlen came back. She earned the win. Manson ignored Ashlen and she managed to top deck as needed. Welcome to MTG.

There were some missed smothering tithe triggers when Josh was using the Xantcha, but I don't think they would have affected the outcome of the game
Had they still been on the board at the end they could have been used for extra Xantcha triggers to dig through the deck to find an answer, especially if lifelink would have been applied appropriately. Odds are the game ended correctly but ya never know. Still a fun one to watch.
Smothering tithe triggers were missed. I was rooting for Manson since the beginning... I was hoping it would not cost him!
@@donovanloreman Yeah, would have been cool if he realized he could use Xantcha to look for an answer. He had maybe an 8%-9% chance of finding something. Oh well
Upvote if you're in the camp who believes Extra Turns has become the superior version of Game Knights. The more home-brew style, the more obscure commanders, and not tied directly to WotC product releases I think firmly sets Extra Turns a step ahead of Game Knights IMO.

@@patmacrotch5611 I never said it was. I think it's more than fine to compare the two without it becoming competitive. Seeing one as superior to the other doesn't lessen the light either has.
Extra turns I believe is the best EDH content on youtube, period. That doesn't mean game knights isn't great. I simply hope Extra Turns gets more attention.
Agree 100%. You can tell that the Game Knights decks are often pretty clunky. The best indicator of this is how very few Game Knights decks Josh and Jimmy have kept together after an episode. Also, the Game Knights mid-game "I'm really worried about X, I don't think we'll survive" interviews are just kind of annoying. People only say that stuff at the table to convince someone else to deal with it.

Id love to see Ashlen play more with that deck. It seemed to get hampered a bunch by bad mana and I think it only scratched the surface of what it could do. Even then she managed to leverage a surprising amount of control even before she got that demonic tutor play.

ashlen is like in a jrpg, she's the cute little support third tier brawler in your party you barely use and then turns out she's the level 99 secret boss post endgame with a final boss being like 70. i think she's won more than she's lost and she always has big ball plays

I mean she won, but she did pretty much nothing all game and then tutored a toxic deluge. Manson’s deck was a well oiled machine and I’m kinda bummed he didn’t win, he earned it. I feel like a toxic deluge into a cabal/urborg x spell isn’t like “mind blowing play! How the F did she do it!!”. Not that original.

I've been playing Obosh since I pulled it in my Ikoria box. I call the deck "I Just Can't Even" and cackle in glee as it punishes durdly players for doing a bunch of stuff that just makes their turn super long without actually advancing the game.

Loved JLK’s deck tech about Obosh a while back. I pulled one from precon and decided to build a deck for Obosh this morning. Just finished my third commander game ever, and destroyed with this commander. Darksteel Myr, was a life saver. And after the dust settled; a sudden death, and burns to the face left me on top. Super fun deck.

@@ceulgai2817 you're only accumulating resources IF your opponents don't deal with them, it's all out in the open. He is playing it safe because he knows the table has ways of dealing with it or he will become a bigger target. The rest of the table knows how to threat assess.

Also, Manson could have activated Xantcha with the profane command on the stack and tried to draw a counterspell.
He wouldn't have Xantcha as she was supposed to cost 5 due to commander tax and Ashlin paid 3

Don't quote me on that but Sephara only dealt 7 damages, the double damage is part of Gisella so that damage is dealt by Gisella.
In addition they didn't do the Ilharg death trigger

Actually because of the replacement effect from Gisela, sephara is only dealing 7 so it was correct

This but Vilis could have been given fear from the Profane Command which negates the issue. What could have been useful was Manson digging with Xantcha to see if he had an answer in his top 2-4 cards. Odds are the game ends pretty much the same way.
He could have used Xantcha's ability to try and see if a counterspell was on top of his library though
Yeah, looking at the deck list and guestimating how many cards he had left there was probably a 8%-9% he could have found an answer. Would have been neat to see that play out one way or the other.
Am I stupid or something? Shouldn't his board have not been wiped at all? Toxic deluge gives everything -x/-x but his entire board was indestructible. even if something is a 0/0, if it's indestructible it doesn't die, right?
@@andrewb378 unfortunately if your toughness is zero due to -1/-1 counters your creatures die to state based actions. They no longer have a toughness which is different than if damage equal to their toughness is marked on them.

That was an awesome game. I won't spoil it for people looking through the comments before finishing, but that ending was pretty unexpected.

Anybody else notice Manson not gaining enough life with Gisela out? Don't know how it changes the game but Ashlen wouldn't have had enough mana to kill with Profane Command. Otherwise a fun game to watch! Loved the Polymorph theme!
She could still finish him off, even with the extra life gained. She just needed to give Vilis Fear with the Profane Command instead of choosing the return a creature mode. She can then attack for 8 and Manson couldn't block it, since they have no flying blockers that are black or artifacts, and that would finish off Manson, even with the extra 7 life they should have had.
Also he could have dug with zancha before that happened and found an answer and win, I dont how why he didn't see that line of play, there is no risk cause he's gonna die if he doesn't, so he could have easily done it while on the stack, unless he doesn't have something in his deck that can respond to it at that point cause of the exile earlier, at that point ya dont bother

@@chihshiangshee9002 That's a good point, could have dug to find something. Looking at the deck list he didn't have a big burn spell, but had 6-7 outs for that situation. If he didn't hit them in the first two draws he'd be in a bad spot either way, but would have been an even cooler ending to a pretty epic match to see him dig for win/continuance.
Manson’s deck was so good and such an interesting idea. It was a pleasure to watch this game.
This is now easily my favorite episode of Extra Turns or even Game Knights (Sorry Bear Force One). Such a great episode ☺️😁

The artwork is OG, but it's a reprint. They were commenting on the artwork.
I would consider revised as old.... now. Back when I started, Revised was the current set, and every one considered the black border cards the "old" cards, meaning alpha/beta (no one had any of these) and legends, antiquities, and arabian nights (you were a god if you had any of these cards). The Dark was considered old but there seem to be more of them around than any of the others. It is crazy how "non existent" the original sets seemed to be back in 94/95.
Rule number 1: Never confirm or deny the existence of a counterspell in your hand.

No one let's you have Atraxa, though. Trust me, id love to play bant counters matter.
Ishai is a removal magnet and Reyhan protects the investments. The deck already does a pretty good job of deploying counters, so I prefer her in the 99. Still, she'd do pretty well as the lead singer.
That poly morph deck was so cool! I love unique themes like that.

Also no! Sephara deals 7, then Gisella applies the double damage, Sephara is dealing 7, so he gains 7 :)
More importantly, his entire board was indestructible. Toxic Deluge shouldn't actually wipe his board.
@@andrewb378 Per mtg rules... An indestructible permanent can be exiled, returned to a player's hand, put into a graveyard for having 0 or less toughness (via anything that gives -X/-X for example), or sacrificed.
I would watch an episode of just the Command Zone's ads. I especially loved the spooky stories gag one!

I feel like Manson wasted a lot of mana by sacrificing his treasure tokens while he still had mana available. Perhaps that extra mana could have let him dig for an answer at the end with Xantcha.

Out of curiosity, would a chromium edh deck be like wizard/dragon synergy? Chromium is one of my favorite cards but I've never been sure what to base it around

Manson probably forgot that he could use Xantcha's ability himself in that endgame. He could have maybe dug something to win the game drawing some extra cards. I also think that casting Xantcha was a bad move from Ashlen because of that, luckly for her she wasn't punished. It's a shame, the endgame could have been even more close then it was. Amazing game anyway!
Xancta in that situation would make it so it attack ashlen but since no other opponents were in the game it couldn't attack

@@magiccardmaster9921 I'm talking about Xantcha's ability, meaning paying 3 for drawing a card and having it do 3 damage to himself. He is not allowed to attack her but any player can use Xantcha's ability, including the player that controls it

Nah, she paid full value. 10 in pool from Coffers, 8 goes into Vilis, 2 floating. Tap three + the mana in pool, and that's Xantcha.
