    Your mission has been accomplished - I’m actively trying to get into the TCG in my local area (I already found a place where they will be starting local tournaments again soon). My husband and I collect together, but I 100% am ready to dive into actually playing. Also, having a player’s mindset as I find singles and open packs has made it THAT much more enjoyable. Thank you so so much for all you do! I’ve been binge watching your TCG videos and I can’t wait to see more (including how you organize your collection 😍)!!!!

    this helps so much !
    Always have been a collector, but recently my GF and I want to start playing !
    We come from playing Yugioh and a little bit of mtg , one of the good things about the Pokemon TCG is that if you're already a pokemon fan. Then you don't really have to memorize anything - meaning other card games you have to learn the names of every single card and what they do. But with Pokemon. You at least already know all of their names so that's half the battle right there !

    Another amazing video! This series is so well thought out and put together just perfectly. I have two questions I wonder if you know the answers to. I was suprised to hear that standard had banned cards now and when I looked at them they didn't seem that broken. What was the cause for their bans. Also the normal rotation is right after worlds but if there is no worlds have they released when rotation is going ot happen?

    • @FrostedCaribou
      @FrostedCaribou  3 года назад +1

      The mismagius is banned because of its interaction with cards like reset stamp and Lt. Surge's strategy. The whole goal of using it would be to give your opponent prize cards and then play cards that directly aide you for having less prize cards. You force your opponent into 2 or 3 card hands with reset stamp, while you get to play multiple supporters for turn etc. It would also be super broken in fighting decks due to karate belt and martial arts dojo also giving you insane support if you're down in prize cards. Plus it would be extraordinarily easy to search out with evolution incense and make all of that happen extremely early game. The belleba Bryce man I think was a direct ban because of eternatus. It would make eternatus absolutely useless because it forces your opponent down to 3 Pokémon on bench which completely eliminates the entire purpose of that deck 🤣 and you'd really only need a one or two tech of it hahahaha. I'm not sure on that answer for rotation. I believe they probably will still rotate but that would be a huge bummer because that's an entire season missed, not being able to competitively play this format. Hope this helps!

    • @FellBrian
      @FellBrian 3 года назад

      @@FrostedCaribou Thanks for the answers. It is interesting that they would ban bellelba just for eternatus decks i thought that would be the point to have that card to counter a deck. Awhile ago there was a Mega Rayquaza deck that did damage based on # of benched pokemon they ran 4 of sky city which increased bench space to 8 i believe. This caused everyone and their grandma's to run sudowoodo that had an ability to limit bench space.

    first, thanks for the videos! they've been very helpful for a super noob like myself. In the videos you mentioned Pokemon Sanctioned events. I understand due to Covid these have been cancelled but my question is, how do i get setup for these in the future? is there a website or app i can use to get registered and track my progress after events? and secondly, are any Pokemon TCGO events sanctioned/count towards progress of physical card game events?

    • @FrostedCaribou
      @FrostedCaribou  3 года назад +1

      Hey Nick! So happy you enjoyed the videos. If you don't already play online, you'll have to go to Pokémon.com and register for an online Pokémon ID. this should also give you your player ID (a bunch of numbers) for in person sanctioned events so make sure to keep note of that. That ID / username is what you can search for online under events to track your points. January 26th is the start of players cup 3. An online event that is technically a Pokémon sanctioned event. As long as you have an active online account set up and linked to your ID you'll receive 50 keys to use in online sanctioned events, for each time you place 3rd, 2nd, or 1st you get points that add up and can be tracked online. You'll need a certain number of points to get into the finals. Hope this helps!

    Rules say choose order of steps you take. If I bench basics then use trainers to find basic Pokemon for my hand can I put them on my bench? If do I forfeit that because I chose to do that step already? Same with evolving

    • @FrostedCaribou
      @FrostedCaribou  2 года назад +1

      You can place basics on the bench or evolve your Pokémon as many times as you want during your turn as long as your eligible to. ie: you can only evolve a specific Pokémon once per turn, unless the Pokémon card says otherwise, if it’s been in play for at least a full turn. Hope that’s helps! ♥️

  • @Pkmrog
    @Pkmrog 2 года назад

    I have a silly noob question … are the prize cards kept by the opponent? Or do they give them back to you when game is done? Since its shuffled and a holo could end up being a prize card if you play with them :(

  • @MetalMinion3
    @MetalMinion3 3 года назад +1

    "There's no way...ever...that you'll be able to play a stage 1 or stage 2, directly to your bench"
    Actually, there are a few exceptions to this rule. Such as Lampent, Luxio, and Lombre, from Rebel Clash. As well as Beedrill from Vivid Voltage. Also, Chandelure's attack from Unified Minds, allows you to put stage 1 and stage 2 fire Pokemon you discard with it, directly onto your bench.

    • @FrostedCaribou
      @FrostedCaribou  3 года назад +2

      Yes 100% you could really say this with anything in Pokémon. There are cards that bypass almost every normal condition of the game, but for explaining things to beginners it's much simpler to just tell them the normal rules. Because when a player finds a card and reads what it does, they will know that it bypasses a normal condition, but they HAVE to know the normal conditions of the game to play first.

    Question: can you use special energies as an energy type....
    Example: A move has 3 grass energy and one special listed to use the move, and I have 4 special energy attached to the pokemon.

    • @FrostedCaribou
      @FrostedCaribou  3 года назад +1

      There actually is no "requirement," for special energy. I think you might be looking at colorless energy? It's a white ball instead of the green grass leaves. A colorless energy means you can use any color. You could have 3 grass and one fire and it would work. That being said the "aromatic energy," is a special grass energy that says it counts as one grass energy. So if you had a Pokémon that only listed one grass, for it's move that special energy would work.

    Transitioning from Yugioh to Pokemon is not very hard. With that said though...I like playing expanded more just because of the chaotic nature of older sets while enjoying the power creep of new sets. MTG and YGO players in my opinion are willing to play aggressive themes because of the fact that there's no interruption during your turn.
