with alice in borderland, a key part of surviving is being able to decipher the rules. they never lie, but they do mislead. because of this, diamond games aren't the only ones where you need to use your brain.
so i do think that it's "fair" - to win, you have to reach the goal. arisu found the goal, so he deserved to win, but if you didn't, you lose. that sounds fair to me.
It's an interesting way to play the games, and you have to be smart about it for sure. I guess it's as fair as it could be without anyone there to clarify what it is you're supposed to be doing. I feel the gamer guy should know to spread the people out and see if there are any clues around instead of all going forward into the tunnel.
@@Rakerong the first thing they should do, would be to run a certain distance in both ways and check if the number increases in one path and if it decreases in another. If the number is increasing in both ways, it means that they are going further away from their goal or they need to reach certain distances. But if it has both a negative and positive value, it means that the goal is in the center (the bus).
@@hetoverseo3887 That I agree with. It would have made sense for them to first discuss what the number meant, and investigate around them.
If they HAD to go and explore, I would have suggested sending the fastest two people to run the length of the tunnel which is apparently 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Then the rest could be kind of staggered behind at various paces and distances in case they needed to turn back or that they all don't rush in to danger at the same time. Seeing that panther I would have shouted to turn around asap.
@@Rakerong I think Arisu would have thought of that, but the reason why he didn't was because he was exhausted and still not recovered from the last game (mentally), I think that what made him not "using" his brain like he usually does
You call Squid Game fair, but in one game, the game master messed with one player's ability to use his skill to win the game. AiB is more fair actually, it follows its rules to the tee, you just have to pay close attention. The rules may be inverted at times, but it is clear. I won't ever feel cheated, not like on SG.
This, the rules never lie, they could be interpreted in wrong ways tho. But at the seven of hearts, the sheeps needed to hide but not for their own preservation.

yall put too much credit to squid game being 'fair' but they did some unfairness too. Frontman rigged the glass game by turning the lights off so it's obviously unfair, that's the players strategy to pass yet they interrupted it. Alice is more fair, rules are there but you also need to pay attention and think about what opposes the rules so you can somehow big brain the game, otherwise you'll face the consequences.
That game was an outlier though because the VIPs were gambling on it and were there in person to watch it and the Front Man has to keep them happy when they kept talking about how the guy knew how to differentiate the glass. But the other games were extremely fair and relied on the players playing the game without any surprise rule changes.
Alice's games are fair, I agree. You have to approach it with literal gamer logic. Arisu should have picked up on the whole number tracker thing because his gamer instincts would have at least put out the idea that the start point could be the end goal, and split the group so half could go explore the tunnel and the rest stay behind. And that way they could at least explore their surroundings and see the graffiti.

@@Rakerong I know that and that's what makes it unfair. Being able to make others happy by putting the others in struggle and in fact bringing them in death's door without a chance is what screams unfairness to me, especially it is influenced with power and money, I mean, let them fight with fairness until the end because they're dying you know.
@@Rakerong It's easy to say the 'should haves' if we are not on his position though. It's like saying "You should not be depressed" to a person diagnosed with depression. And about him joining the game, I remember it was because it's his last day? So he has no choice but to join. Not sure though, I watched this a year ago.
alice in borderland games make you use your head more to survive
,its all basically mind games at this point, to me the games are much more fair than squid game . game masters and the other staffs in squid games try to mess up the players not like in Alice they just let the players play,rules are given for each games so its up to the players how they would play it to win.
One thing about this episode is that I wish they showed either the guy with the wife or Usagi look down at their phone when the bus was coming and see that the distance was getting shorter. That would've been the icing on the cake tbh
That's true but then again I think the timing wouldn't have worked because they were in such a rush

Hey guys I love your reactions. I know this Video is pretty old but I just wanted to explain something really quickly about the goal you might not know:
Fisrtly in the manga this is a side story so Arisu and Usagi aren't involved; only minor characters. Seocndly there is actually a Japanese-English dictionary in the bus that the participants are encouraged to use to translate any words they find. Nobody takes the time to do this but if they had they would've realized they should stay in the bus. Lastly the person whose leg is injured is actually one of the dealers who is just supervising the game.
To be honest I personally don't like when the person are talking too much while reacting but you guys are so entertainer, so funny, I can't stop watching your reactions

Its a game of clubs which mean its a team game..but they treat it a spade game which is physical.. arisu should understand that early in the game..
Tbf, it's a life or death situation and he just lost his friends so I don't blame him. The huge time frame was misleading too. I personally wouldn't get the idea to just sit around for 2 hours. And lastly ofc Goal was written in English which not everybody can read.

Also it is literally the easiest game of season 1 😂. The only thing they had to do was look at their surroundings carefully. Simple as that. Arisu, if he was not traumatized, would definitely have thought of that quick
@@dineshp5203 actually not that much. You have to remember these characters are Japanese and the minority of Japan can read English. Then you don't only have to be able to read the letters but also translate it because on the phone goal was written in Japanese. It's easy to think everybody knows English but it truly isn't realistic for every part of the world.
21 minutes into it, and you NAILED IT! Dude, you can plan my castle onslaught *any* day! Oh... if it was a running game it would have been spades. It's a clubs game. Working together as a group. But... I would have been totally faked out too.
AIB games are fair, they play with human mentalities but the key to resolve it it’s always on the rules which never overstep the boundaries they put. No one is gonna interfere by changing the rules as if they like, which happens in squid game (ex glass game). Even the sugar game was unfair since the woman had hidden a lighter. Fair games put everyone in the same situation and give them the same methods to clear them, it’s on the gamer to decide how to approach the said games (this is why they are big brain games).

Fun fact: the word Usagi is japanese for "Rabbit". I learned this from the manga comic "Apocalypse Meow" which had all American Soldiers (USA GI's ) as Rabbits.

AiB and SG is not same type of sort but they are in the same genre, death game. In SG, there is already a rule since it is their childhood game. So, they already know what to do. While in AiB is a random game that you have to decipher the game to know how to survive and be able to win.
You should watch AS THE GOD's WILL next. Cuz SG and ATGW is much more similar than SG and AiB.

The game wasn't about going forward, they needed to go backward and check their phones when they escaped the panther, everything was done to make harder for them to proceed through the tunnel, it was a clubs game not a spades where you need fitness to survive. Clubs are all about teamwork and strategy to guarantee the survival of the group.

Heart games are the most fucked up not because they are betrayal games or games where you need to kill others.
They are the hardest because they mess with common sense and self-preservation.
If you never take risks while you have better odds of survival, you will have a huge chance of dying. You also need to think that these games are all about trapping players beliefs. You will need to think about how would you kill the majority of the players instead of how will I live this one.
For survival game film/series like this, it will never fair 100%. No matter if it SG or AIB or any other survival game theme, its all the same. Just the fact that there r someone make games like this its already unfair in the first place. They just want to kill people & enjoy the proces. 🤷
Alice in borderland isn't just about mindless killing for entertainment, if you watch it till the last episode when it ends you will see what I mean. And most of the games are very fair, their rules aren't lies or created randomly when participants try new things.

I really like this show but this episode showed the writing is inconsistent and hence, despite what its hardcore fans say, will never reach the level of Squid Game. In the first game, Arisu remembers the layout of the building after casually glancing at it for a second and the model of the BMW parked in front but here, he didn't see GOAL written on the side of the bus. Granted, he was traumatised, but in the first game, he didn't even know these details would be important. Now that he knows he's in the game and playing for high stakes, he suddenly stops noticing his surroundings?
His friends just died lol 😂😂😂 , he was clearly mentally unstable at that moment, it’s not even that hard to understand
@@Anonymous-bm6mv Read my comment again. I took the trauma into account and still found it inconsistent. He was capable of recognising the motorcycle while they were running and was capable of thinking of using it to save the man in the bus. It wasn't like he was in a daze.
But thats the thing right! Arisu didnt look at the map because he was actively searching for information while getting into the game. It just happen to be there. With the bus it wasnt the case , they got out of it and moved forward.
