    As the majority of my family lives in California while I am located in Germany I always searched for a GMT watch for daily use. So the Seiko is the perfect match for me. I also own an SKX for about eight years now as a sports-watch for hiking and biking so the design is pretty familiar to me. And i understand Your critizism about that because the GMT doesn't look like a new design. On the other hand this design is pretty perfect - like the crown on 4 and so on. So I have no problems with that. As I have a black SKX I choosed the Blueberry GMT which I highly recommend. It suits to casual wear, but also to business wear. And besides that: Thank You for the explanation between an office and a true GMT watch! Now i got the point. Keep on doing this great work. Best wishes, Hans-Peter

    I just purchased this watch, with the orange dial. There are pros and cons with this watch, and in the end, I believe I'll be satisfied with it. Fortunately, I was able to buy the watch at a discount and used CC points to further reduce the price; I'm in this watch for just over $150.00US. At a higher price point, I believe I would send it back. The biggest problem I have is that in all the reviews and ads for the watch the orange dial appears to be matte. In reality, however the dial is decidedly metallic. I would have preferred the matte finish as appears on the black. Anyway, at my investment point it's a watch I will keep and wear. It does get a lot of attention, and it is very comfortable to wear. One surprise - this is my first experience with a Hardlex crystal. I'm more concerned with dial clarity and crispness that scratch resistance, so I don't HAVE to have sapphire. This crystal has no distortion and minimal glare.
    Great video review! Thanks!

    While I like the subtlety of the black version, I'm generally not that interested in this particular type of dive-derived design. I chose to get the RZE Ascentus, which uses the same movement but stylistically fits better with my field-watch heavy collection. Titanium, unique case shape and bracelet (w/ milled parts), and a striking minimal dial, all for about the same price as the Seiko. (At least at pre-order.) Can't do the third time zone trick though, unfortunately, and it has a unidirectional bezel for some reason. But overall, I'm glad I waited a sec and got something closer to my aesthetic tastes.

    I love the look of these Seiko 5 GMTs. But their build quality is crap compared to Certina and Tissot. Certina DS2 Action Diver GMT have been on sale for as low as about $ 650 - and have case and bracelet of solid 316L steel, sapphire crystal, ETA 2824 Powermatic 80 with 70 hours power reserve. As other reviwers on RUclips points out, why does Seiko offer hardlex when sapphire crystal really is cheap. I’m surprised about what arrogant move Seiko has done here… Try and feel the steel bracelet of Tissot and Certina… But Seiko is definitely king of lume.

    • @watcheswithabdullah
      @watcheswithabdullah  Год назад +1

      Seiko does offers sapphire on some of their dressier options (even some of the cheaper ones) but i guess it's because hardlex is more shatter resistant than sapphire but not as scratch resistant). While i myself do wish for more sapphire options, i believe their logic is to make most of their entry levek pieces as 'tooly' as possible. But yeah, sapphire isn't as expensive as it sounds, which is why you see a lot of microbrands offer it at much more affordable prices.

    Buyer beware! I went to a jewelry store and the watch they gave me (001) was DOA. Wound it up and nothing happened. Saw on Reddit someone else had a similar experience, but his died after one week. Same exact description as what I saw. If you’re buying this at a brick and mortar store, wind your watch and make sure it works before you go! My guess is there’s a bad batch of these floating around. Luckily they had another watch at the store that they sold me.
    As far as the actual watch, I just wish this was a true GMT. Didn’t love the jubilee bracelet; switched it for a NATO. It runs maybe 8 seconds slow/day. Annoying, but 🤷🏻.
