Just picked up the orange one, late to the party. I love everything about this watch. Yes, the orange screams out at you a bit, but that's ok. It's definitely different. So far very reliable, easy to read in the dark, robust. It's the only watch I'm wearing these days.
I picked up the orange one, also feom Seiko online boutique. I think it might be less versatile than the other colors, but the orange is just a perfect summer watch for me.
Many thanks for a very good and accurat revue! I've had the blue version for a couple of weeks, just fixed it with a navy blue one-coloured nato strap and worn it almost every day.
Just picked up an ssk005 and I really enjoy how strong an orange the dial is. Really fun for the summer and I have a trip planned soon so it works out perfect. Yeah Im sure micro brands will make some awesome pieces with this movement but I do think there is something to be said for having the first affordable gmt from a reputable brand.
@Bruce Williams Nice video! Just got the 001 and 005 to add to my 003. Question what model is the gold/beige GMT featured in your thumbnail? Can't seem to find it.
Got the 001 a few days ago. I think it is awesome for the price and will open up a lot of possibilities for future models and other brands. Mine runs about -5secs/day, and I will adjust shortly. I think Seiko did a great job on these models.
Very good, Bruce. I think you made the right choice with the Orange and especially like the gold accents. That said, all colorways are strong at the price point.
This was an excellent release and excited for Seiko. No doubt there will be more color ways of the 5KX GMT soon. We will easily see green, red, and white dials very soon.
I don't like this trend toward having see-through backs, although if something is visible wrong with your movement, I appreciate being able to see it without removing the back. Still, I might pick one up just because I love orange-dialed sports watches.
I got my 05 days after it was released. I had to get mine from Italy at a little under retail. I am extremely happy with it, I put it on an Alpine bright orange rubber strap and it looks amazing!

Great review. I have to disagree with you on the bracelet, I immediately replaced it with a Seiko Oyster one. It’s all personal preference I guess. Thanks again!
As a disabled guy on Social Security who can only afford bargain-basement watches, this thing is so great, wish I could afford one. But, the good news is that this new affordable GMT movement (NH34) is already showing up in other watches, and will surely trickle down to brands that I can actually afford, like Pagani. They will probably have better bracelets and sapphire crystal too, so fingers crossed! 🤞 Thanks for the video!
@@mercster orange for me! After seeing a few videos yesterday, I put my order in today! I wish it had a sapphire crystal though. Got mine for $475 CAD.
I've been SO close to getting one of these on Ebay for a few months, and just never quite got round to winning the auction, but it IS without any doubt the next watch that I'll be buying. A GMT for under £400 is great value for money, and from everything I've seen online (NOT as yet seen one face to face)it looks just about unbeatable. I purchased an Alpina GMT for under $500 in the past. The movement is called AL-555 but I'm sure I doubt it is a true in house caliber. The Alpina has gone way up in price but my point is that there are affordable GMT movements out there. Obviously, the Ali-Express brands also have some affordable GMT movement, too. Assuming Seiko sells this new movement to micro brands we will see an explosion of GMT offerings in the next year at a similar price point.
Many of the Seiko GMT série are suffering from QC issues . I'm not sure if I should pick one . Yes they look nice but what is they are not fonctional ??
