Not to say Vlad III didn't have a fierce reputation for ruthlessness, I can't help but feel like some of this is a bit exaggerated for the show. For example, "Drăculea" means "Son of the Dragon" and not of the Devil. Vlad II was a member of the chivalric Order of the Dragon, which is how he earned his nickname, "Dracul".

Anyone notice that they spent the majority of their "castle" film in one little stairway/hallway? That's because it's literally the only hallway in the entire castle that looks creepy. They have to sensationalize it and go with the dracula theme. The actual castle/city/grounds are absolutely beautiful. Well furnished and basically just a normal castle.

Also keep in mind that his head was send to Turkey as a proof of his death. Please stop mocking and spreading lies about our rules. Nor sure why the National Geo Channel saw fit to give incorrect facts. Bran Castle is NOT anything to do wth Vlad Tepes for a start. He probably only visited there less than a handful of times during his life and The real Castle Dracula is high atop a mountain range near the River Arges and is called Peonari Fortress. Also his name Dracula meant son of Dracul the A sound meaning Son of. It was his father who was ordained into the order of the Dragon to pitt himself against the evil tyranny of the Turks and the Scandanavian/german Lords who also wanted riches beyond greed. Dracula actually means Son Of The Dragon, NOT Son of the Devil. Wish these tv companies would stick to facts and stop trying to link him to the fictional evil written about in Bram Stokers Victorian Novel. Yes Bram did use Vlads history as a family blood line for his vampire but thats all. So this 4 minutes clip from a company thats supposed to know what they re doing when researching these historical facts really goes to show they were only interested in talking about Vlad in a sensationalised way.

Bran Castle has absolutely nothing to do with Vlad Dracula. The only connection he has to it is through his Grandfather Mircea The Old who had it constructed. The Hungarians seized it as their property before Dracula was even born. Once again NatGeo demonstrates how they’re fully willing to twist facts/truth in order to get ratings. And the “curse of Dracula” has nothing to do with his death. It was a promise he made to his enemies when he lost the throne the second time and was stabbed in the back by his allies. He fulfilled his promise when he struck a deal with Corvinus, and got the throne back. Thence, the “curse” is completely a moot point. Also, it wasn’t Bran Castle he was held prisoner in, in fact, there’s absolutely no evidence he ever set foot in it. Tour guides just tell Tourists and Hollywood producers wanting to sell a narrative what they want to hear. Poorly done, NatGeo. 😞

most of the facts given in this 4 minute clip are totally wrong. Castle Bran is nothing to do with the real Dracula. Castle Peonari on the banks of the Arges river is the only real Castle Dracula. Also Dracula means Son of the Dragon, not Son of the Devil as this so called expert states in the film clip. The Romanian people would be insulted to have their national hero insulted in such a biased fashion.

First of all vlad's father give vlad and his sister to Ottoman and they educated in enderun school which people is educated as an governor in Istanbul. So he and Fatih Sultan Mehmet were in same class some historian say they were swore brother. He is appointed as an voyvoda in eflak-bogdan( romania) by Ottoman Emprie. His father killend by hungarian but after when he were in eflak his approach change to Ottoman. He killed innocent envoy and he attacked many civil turkish residential. After Fatih Sultan Mehmet surronded his castle. He escape and he was catched after he killed it was time to pay what he did.
