Yeah planes like these back in whatever era it was they werent build properly I dont think in todays standards. As technology progressed and got better and better to why they vanished could have fallen on a random island that doesnt have human inhabitants or drowned in big seas and never to be found as from my knowledge in regular planes they have some next box where they can track where it was last at. But this was long ago such technology did not exist to help them locate what happened to them sad to why I can never pursue such a career anything can happen at mother natures will or technology failure.
@@Marrawi01 Redundancy systems. Most modern aircraft have a primary and 2 backups. These guy's were flying with a magnetic compass and the seat of their pants.

My stepfather was an officer on the Board of Inquiry. Captain Richard S. Roberts. He passed away August 13, 2023. He was 107 years old and totally clear headed with a great memory to within a week of passing. It was a case of getting lost, following/the leader and ending up in the ocean. Mariners were notorious for fuel issues and smoking occurred back in those days. Not a good combination. It exploded. No hocus pocus. Many Avengers went down back them. Many in the Atlantic. Hopefully they will find them before there’s nothing to be found. It would be very interesting.
I remember hearing about Flight 19 in 1980. It was mentioned in a documentary film called "The Bermuda Triangle"
based upon what I just heard it sounds like to me the flight leaders we're inexperienced got lost and have a compass malfunction as well as some procedures were followed which led to them crashing, but it's hard to believe that you couldn't find 5 downed aircraft or even some of the wreckage in a general facility
Not only that but some of the search planes also disappeared

Except he was very experienced. He had over 2500 flight hours, most of which were with an avenger. He also fought in the pacific in ww2 . He had two ditches during the war. He was extremely experienced.

I’m afraid to say that it sounds like Taylor got them all killed with his wacky instructions. If only they decided amongst themselves to turn west against his orders, they’d still be alive.
Before now I’d never seen an Avenger in anything but grainy WW2 photos and film clips- it’s quite beautiful.
Those planes are probably 50 feet under the Florida swamp........even IF they survived, the terrain is ALMOST Impossible to navigate on foot.........back in 1945 Florida was very Rural too, Not like today.....

The Bermuda Triangle is loosely defined, but it ranges from 500,000 square miles to over a million. The lower estimate is three times the area of California. The region is also where the deepest part of the Atlantic ocean is. That's why the Flight 19 planes, along with thousands of other planes and ships have yet to be found.

That plane they show at the beginning is the same one that famously ditched in the ocean at the Cocoa Beach airshow in April 2021. It is parked on the ramp outside the museum now with the front removed.

It’s a very big ocean, and even if they managed to land intact they would not float very long, 4 or 5 minutes. They ditched in rough seas, so maybe not even that long.
They ditched in the wrong spot of the ocean and the rescue planes where looking at the wrong place. Scary to die in the ocean alone
there was 5 planes, they weren't alone. and search and rescue planes looking for them just vanished too, no wreckage found

I heard in another documentary that the Lt. asked to be relieved from flight duty for medical reasons. He was denied and lead the flight.

It's mind blowing. They could have taken off from Florida at any point, gotten lost and yet had they only just traveled Northwest, would have been headed center mass to the United States and made way back to land.

The public was informed the last words were “I think were lost or took a wrong turn”. I’ve heard a recording that is supposedly the real Audio that said, there is some weird object that I can’t identify”. I’ve also listened to that voice with previously recorded Stivers and it matched.

The why is that part of the ocean has massive methane deposits and when enough of it burps up, it'll sink ships and make aircraft loose altitude.

History constantly repeats itself.
I've watched the portion of the episode of the show regarding Flight-19 and am befuddled by Sam Sheridan. We are led to definite conclusions without evidence. For example, how do we know that the SS Sapona was the target for the practice bombing portion of the first leg? According to the NAS Ft' Lauderdale Museum Director and the determination of the official Navy report, the intended target was off Great Isaac Cay, not the Sapona which is several miles to the South West. You are also led to believe that it was a Navigation Exercise, when in fact it was a 'Blind Navigation ' which sheds a whole new light on what was expected of the pilots and the gear they had available to them. Furthermore, for identification purposes, IFF individual aircraft when each station is programmed to do so. Did the USS Solomons have that information so as to be able to determine that the planes spotted on radar were actually Flight-19 and not one of the other 27 flights scheduled by NAS Ft. Lauderdale that day, not to mention the flights from other bases, and where did they get voice recordings of the radio transmissions? Ah TV! All that said, it seems Nate Ingram is basing his knowledge of Flight-19 off of Jon Myhre's research which indicated that Lt. Taylor was not following the reported training schedule route of 91 degrees on the first leg but was instead using the 96-degree course indicated on the official reportsYes, there is duplicity in the report. If this had been referred to up front then it would have made more sense to make the Sapona the target. Either way, again we have no proof. However: I believe Colleen Keller Sterling of Metron, Inc is on to something. Like Jon she believes a few of the aircraft quite possibly made it back to land and are somewhere in the Everglades. With any luck the wreck found by Nate will be FT-81. But I believe it might be a better more fruitful avenue due to the age of the metal on the wreck, to approach proving the planes made it back to Florida by tracing the bodies found in FT-36(?) by Graham Stikelether Sr. in 1964

Why didnt they have 1 plane to scout and climb higher altitude to see further. They wont waste gas as the scout plane can cruise back down. They lost direction but I'm sure they still know which way is up.

As the documentary said, the training pilot was off course and confused on his location. He most likely believed his compass was bad when in reality it was him who was wrong.
