Inside the business of Transylvania and the real-life Dracula's castle in Romania

- Dracula, as he is popularly known, is loosely based on the legend of Vlad Dracula -- better known as Vlad the Impaler, a notorious ruler in Romania in the 1400s.
They could have made this informative instead of absurd.
this is what passes as mainstream news these days
Jon That would actually make more sense to me.
It was quite informative. Just had a tongue in cheek style. It wasn't meant to be a hard hitting documentary piece. I'm sure there are more serious pieces filmed about the castle and the region available.
That would be boring-ish
evil is absurd!
Dracula means son of the dragon. In old Romanian "drac" stand for dragon from the latin draco; but now it means the devil.
it's such a wide spread rumor that it means ''son of'', but it's not true and it never was. drac indeed comes from the latin draco meaning dragon but also serpent. in the bible, the serpent is represented as a snake, hence why drac also means devil. his father's name was ''Dracul'', literaly meaning ''the dragon'' from the knightly order that he was part of. vlad the III carried the same name but it got bastardised as ''Draculea'', shortened version of ''draculean'', that ''an'' ending is very common suffix in all indo-european names, like adrian, or naming people from other countries like iranian. so the bastardisation ''draculea'' can be at best interpreted as ''of the dracul'' family, something like this, but not as ''son of''

Thanks for the knowledge!
draco mean a ak47 with no stock
an*
It's based on 2 things: the kundalini and the double helix dna strand. Both represent the god Enki, and all forms of him have been demonized by the Judeo-Christian religions. There are certain sects though, that secretly worship him. He is the dragon, the serpent or Nacash. "Wise as serpents"...
Vlad didn't rule Transylvania but he was born there, he ruled wallachia across the carpathians in the upper Danube
I..am..DRACULA.... Bleh bleh bleh

Love his Romanian accent.
I'd LOVE to visit there, that's ONE of my dream locations in life.
Same hope to one day soon.
Same true!
I recommend it, I went and vlogged about it
Not a big deal. Vlad never lived there.
Same, I have it on my bucket list! 😊🏰
I spent one month teaching an English camp 20m in from the castle. The castle is worth a visit but the whole surrounding area is fascinating and you can really feel the mysticism in the air. In the summer the hills and mountains are a light green colour patched with thick forests. Yes the tourism side of it is like anywhere but too be honest it wasn’t as bad. It’s just one street around the castle. Brasov is a larger city that is not far and well worth a walk around. Romanians are always quite friendly as well.
Vlad was undoubtedly ruthless but he wasn’t the monster they paint him here as, he was also very loved by people, particularly the poorer class as he rarely showed nepotism to the ruling boyars, yes he also committed atrocities but so did literally every other medieval ruler, vlad was the first european military leader who actually managed to stop the ottomans, and always personally led his men.
The real Dracula would say “I don’t say bleh bleh bleh!”
nah the real Dracula would say "Playtime is over! Give me power!"
As a person that was born in Transylvania and that lived there, Dracula wasn't a bad person, actually he was a great leader to Transylvania and did great things, as an example of that would be, if one person stole something or hurt someone else he would punish them in a not so friendly matter, like you can see the methods he chose (the spike chair ect.) While he was doing the punishment he also help form Transylvania and made the people living there to be nicer and have more respect to one another. That's why the people there are much nicer than most of the other parts of Romania.I know this because many people know the history and I have been to the castle and read many things. Before you guys said he was "horrible horrible person." get ur facts correct.
alana pop Jude Mood
He was a bad person "steal from the rich give to the poor" that still not right even though he was doing something good out of it. They have their facts straight.
@@kamfulcher2291 that means that Robin Hood was also bad!
He wasn’t a leader of Transylvania. He was a leader of Wallachia. Having lived there, shouldn’t you know that?
actually dracula was born as a real vampire. with reincarnation you can live different lives and be with different families in each century. ik this because someone who told me who claims to be the son of dracula. just to let everyone know im half vampire wheather you believe me or not. yes i do have a scar between my arm and hand and yeah i have fangs and do i feed on blood or energy i havent thought about it and havent done it yet. so yeah i had this scar well fully heal but still have the scar till this day and i had it since 2014 all the way to 2024. also i do know alot of whereabouts where vampires are located. i did my own research. yes you have good vampires but also bad ones just as good humans and bad. you might not believe i happen to be one. but like saying you can discover 5% of the ocean or discovering space and neither is fully explored. you might meet someone one day and not realize their a vampire and they wait to tell you in few years which happened in my case. Do we talk? no we dont. we lost contact with each other awhile back in april 2023
Castlevania franchise brought me here 😁

“They say its merlot.... I say its blood.”One of the best acted scenes I’ve ever witnessed.
Vlad Tepes was a great Military Commander as well. He once had his men put the horse shoes on their horses backwards when fleeing a position to throw the enemy off their trail.
That's true. Western media often paints him as a blood-thirsty tyrant but he was actually more complex than that. Yes he was brutal when it came to delivering justice, but there are also accounts of him being charitable by rewarding hard work and honesty. He was also said to have been a loving husband and father.
When Dracula owned the Bran Castle:
"I run a hotel now"
Which was never, cause he didn't.
Wow. I thought Hotel Transylvania was just the name in the movie... It all make sense now
I went to Transylvania around 15 years ago. It was dirt cheap, embarrassingly so. The amount of tourist crap was a lot, and I can only imagine it's gotten worse.
The castle they're showing isn't actually Dracula's castle.
VLAD THE IMPALER WASN'T IN TRANSYLVANIA, HE WAS IN WALLACHIA!
He slaughtered thousands of residents of Sibiu and Brasov, so while he did not rule Transylvania he was definitely there.

Good for you
Vlad II Dracul, the father of Vlad III Dracula (Țepeș) was the founder of the Drăculeşti dynasty, which lasted until the 17th century.
The surname "Țepeș" is actually a nickname (given by the Turks) given to Vlad III Dracul(a) as a result of the method of stabbing used by him.
This nickname “Țepeș”, it is associated with Vlad after his death, has remained in use to this day.
Returning to life, time and again since the Ancient Middle Ages, the Evil Lord Dracula has driven people to terror. Each time Dracula returned from the dead, the Heroic Belmont Clan fought him in the Shadows, wielding the Holy Whip called the Vampire Killer.
Vlad the impaler is the real Dracula
yeah we know that lol
Is he real?
@Scotty I mean a real vampire that bite and suck people's blood? does he do that. From what ive read he just impale them with spears
Scotty ok, so he is not a vampire after all right?
Yes he is 👹👻
Cmon the real Dracula - Vlad Tepes - castle is Poenari castle, not Bran Castle.
Romania is smartly capitalising on an entertainment tourist hotspot inspired by an important historical figure and Irish fiction writer. Unfortunately, too many people don't bother learning the real truth of Romanian history. ]:
Interesting. So can Poenari be visited?
@@freddybeer yes it's on many touristic tours
@@ADSCP - If there's a place that holds bad vibes, that's gotta be in the top ten, right? I kinda wanna go - and don't wanna go......
freddybeer i went to Romania two years ago but unfortunatly didnt visit Poenari.
I just like the Transylvania movie and Twilight saga!! Lol
“Just like Twilight”
...Boys, get the vampire killer, I think I found someone in need of a good lashing!
im so sick of this,Vlad was from an old rulling dinasty Basarab who originated in Transylvania ,the first of that brach was Negru Voda or Black King ,Vlad was born in Transylvania in Sighisoara and ruled only Wallachia since Transylvania was ruled by King Matthias Corvinus also born in Transylvania and known as King of Hungary and Croatia.Real Vlad castle Poenari in the south of Romania on Arges river
Seems like a cool place to visit. 🦇
Dude have u guys seen "Dracula dead and loving it" ? Seriously funny film man!!
My favorite movie!!!
Can't go wrong with garlic on a steak!
If you want to look like a typical American fool, then I agree.
I wanna go their so bad and their accent 😭❤
People still leave the lights on because Dracula is still here
I agree
Run!
Vlad Tepes was not a horrible human being. Do watch your descriptions. He was a ruler, and employed methods of his time, which were not his invention. He learnt impaling from the Ottomans and used it, at a different scale that is true, to wage psychological war against them.
It actually very haunted I remember watching ghost adventures and they communicated with a lot of souls. It’s interesting. I love spooky stuff
I watched that special too. The castle is deathly haunted.
I love ghost adventures
Were those spirits speaking English? Lol
Gullible idiots.lol
How i wish i could go there
I had the scare of my life there as there was what seemed to be a statue but was instead a dressed up guy that stayed still. He suddenly rose from his chair near me.
It was a long time ago. There are 2 castles turistically associated with him. Bran is the fancy one and then hotel Dracula ( the one close to Bistrița that is mentioned in the book). At hotel Dracula you can go into a dark room with a casket, I won't spoil what happens next. His citadel, Poenari, is much older and not that preserved so it is not very popular even though that was his home
❤❤❤❤
If I go to Romania, you bet yo ass I'm staying at the Dracula themed hotel, and I'm even gonna be walking around in a vampire costume carrying an umbrella. 🧛♀🦇🍷🩸⚰
"that's a pencil"

And the Vampire Killer, don’t forget that!
Given that Vlad was a devout Orthodox Christian, I doubt he'd take being called a vampire very well.
Re8 village documentary
Everyone says that Vlad the Impailer was a horible person but he never harmed innocent people for example he only tortured thiefs murderes and conquerers. One cronicle says that he left golden cups next to wells and no one dared to steal those and merchants travelled especally trough Wallachia because how safe it was.
And he also defetead the ottomans multiple times.
But no one talks about those things .
There were also accounts of him being noble and charitable and rewarding hard work and honesty.
Your spelling… thats horrible. Impaler. Chronicle. But no one talks about these things
@ogssc you sure know english is not the only language in the world. judging people's spelling is rude

If it wasn't for Dracula Europe would've felt into the hands of the Ottomans.
Really,I it's good to know nee stuff
dracula technically in vlads time mean't "son of the dragon", but now it means "son of the devil"
No it doesn't. It's Christian BS, like changing the birthday of Jesus just so it can fit the new holiday they stole from pagan traditions and called Christmas.
in fact he is a hero against Ottoman Empire , he was one of the other romanians rulers who defended Europe by turks :)
His true title is
VLAD THE IMPALER
Yasssss
Vlad Țepeș nu a locuit niciodată în castelul Bran .
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to *VAMPIRE INCANTATIONS* for helping me become a part of the Vampire clan. Your incredible transformation has truly worked for me, and I am immensely thankful everything. I cannot thank you enough for this invaluable assistance.

Bam and Dunn went to this castle to get wine.
seems intresting, but that might be a place i would like to live. Good winter video of mountains.
I m from Romenia and this story its real
I have also been there, but had no clue about this horror museum in Bran, although I took a pic with it, the thumbnail of *My Trip to Dracula* video. Have to go there AGAIN one day ;-)
Vlad was probably a sweetheart and everyone else tortured him and lied on him then he probably snapped after he couldn’t take it anymore.
The name of the town were the castle is, is very similar to the the Author's of the Dracula novel.
2:02 I saw that room in a bad dream I had.
Wow, so Dracula was there in the 1400s? Does this mean all vampires trace themselves back to historical Romania? If that’s the case then I’m a 🦇 ahahaha 😂
Too bad the area was ruined 🙉
REAL FACT: VLAD NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT CASTLE!!! :)))))))
So this is how Adrian makes his money.
I'm sure Lisa would be proud to see him present her husband's castle and share his knowledge to the world.
I don't believe this nonsense story
Any motionless in white fans recognize it? @ 0:31

That's a good verse to keep the thoughts away from you of wanting to become a powerful vampire imagine centuries to amass wealth have powers wives and obtaining property the lord is my shepherd I shall not wish vampirism to be real for me living in pleasures we shall not become Matthias thereby damming are souls at the judgment even for you that Don't or refuse to believe in heaven, hell, the Bible, & God I say can you even take that chance
The best thing is that this castle has NOTHING to do with Dracula.😂
What Romania is rich too: Bats, Vampires, Holy Waters, Cross, God.
What the Hotel Transylvania Dracula says: BLEH... BLEH... BLEH...
The guy was cool and funny , his kids are lucky
It’s sad to see their country’s medieval national hero become such a laughing stock. They should be teaching more about his fight against the Ottoman Empire, rather than the silly Dracula movies. The real man was more interesting than any of the ridiculous movies.
I am Count Dracula 🧛♂️ goodnight sweet dreams

I wish they didn’t add cheap and cheesy gift shops, as well as that cheap haunted house. It really ruins the whole vibe I wanna get when visiting. It takes the authenticity away.
The real Dracula, Vlad III never lived in Transilvania,,, he was just born there! The Bran castle, was NOT he’s home. He’s castle was Poenari- castle in Arefu,,, he was a impale but not a vampire! The name “ Dracula” ment to be “son of the dragon” not son of the devil He was knowing for being a very cruel, and NEVER a romantic! He only married with a kings cousin for political reasons. This Dracula Bram Stokers created is just a illusion, considered that He’s was Irish and never being in Romanian!
Omg :))))) very angry people about the romanian's legacy! When you say Romania, you say vampire! Just document why they called him "vampire".
Really, Irish?
They say that being of him Islam was stopped from spreading into Europe.
Christopher Herrera that’s just not true, his homeland ( wallachia) got conquered by Turks and ruled for over 500 years. The Turks were stopped in Vienna.
