The whole reason the GT was created was because in rain or snow the Hellcat is basically a big giant useless 4000 pound paperweight. So yeah...Hellcat is sick but...unless you can afford to garage it in the winter and drive something else when it's cold (or, unless u live in Florida) the all-wheel drive GT is the way to go...hopefully they make an 8 cylinder version soon.

I own a '13 Charger AWD R/T. I would trade it in tomorrow if FCA would offer a Challenger with the "scat pack" (6.4) and AWD. Instead, they are promoting the SRT Durango. Yeah, cause I would much rather buy a 7 passenger SUV with 500HP then a 2 door muscle car(sarcasm). Current FCA reminds me so much of the early 80's Chrysler, where it's like they are actively trying to do the opposite of what their customers are asking them to do. As it is, I will drive my Charger into the ground, rusted out and totally shot, before I trade it in for a car with almost 100 less HP and 150 ft/lb of torque. The next gen platform for these cars is the Alfa Romeo Giuliani. If they replace the 5.7 with a turbo V6, I STILL won't trade my Charger in. If I want a turbo 6 I will buy a Ford, they have had a few years practice at it now.
We got over a foot of snow yesterday here in ohio and my charger gt awd was an animal on the snow covered roads... I was shocked!! First time having her in the snow... I couldn't stop smiling either... lol It didn't slid one time!! Impressive!

So here's the real kicker, they make supercharger kits for the V6 engine now, so you can have a Mini Hellcat at half the price and with 4 wheel drive. They crank out about 400hp to the wheels, which is really really impressive.

They scrapped that idea because they already had a awd transmission for the v6 so it was just a simple drop in rather than design a awhole new engine...besides the gt stands for grand touring so in that situation a v6 is best for this particular challenger rather than the v8s weird I know but remember its a touring challenger.
This particular challenger wouldn't make sense with a v8 as ita basically a grand touring challenger so in that situation fuel efficiency is key, that and dodge already had the awd for the v6 so it easier for them to modify it rather than design a awhole new drive train...but the key is to to remember that the gt model is not a performance model so a v8 just wouldn't make sense....its confusing I know...
People hating on the 3.6l 305HP because it's not a V8, yet it produces more power than many of the older V8 "muscle" cars did. Unless you are going to the track or strip the extra HP is pointless. 305HP is plenty enough to have fun with as a daily driver.

My brother bought a hemi Charger from a few years back and loves it. He just extended his Dodge warranty so he can keep it a few more years.

For a daily driver that you're going to run into the ground by the end of your loan, the GT and SXT are solid choices. Decently priced, plenty of around town power, 27-30 hwy mpg. Plus you get a backseat you can actually use.
Wait till guys start supercharging the AWD GT model. As it stands now there are supercharged challengers and chargers getting 450hp at the crank. That would be a fun car to boot around in and would have easily taken the hellcat in its 500hp mode.
Should have used the valet mode on the hellcat, Would have put the horsepower to 300 instead of 500hp. Really would have made it more of a fair race :)
I have a Radeon HD 7870 oc edition In my computer with an overclocked i7 4770k @4.2ghz, 12gb of ram and a 3tb hdd. I wanted to get more graphics horsepower. I found a used 7870 for 75 dollars and was planning to crossfire. Is this a good option or should I just rip the card out and slot in a single rx 480. Thanks
AutoFang get the Rx480, the 7870's pretty outdated and Crossfire X will get you nowhere since multigpu scalability isn't that well supported to see any worthy results.
Wow I forgot Dodge make an awd system. So why don't they make an awd Hellcat? It would cost to much money. Don't even try the too much hp crap. Computer could limit the power to the front wheel to 41%. That is about 266 pot or about what the V6 make. That would really help traction a lot.
You guys should do a handling comparison with the Challengers. Add in a Jeep (Car and Driver Lightning Lap article says it's better), a Camry, and a Camaro for comparison. Just pick a curve on your track and measure the G's and cornering speed for each car.

Interesting to see the GT AWD get to around 45mph, which is statistically the legal speed limit for most urban and suburban driving about the same as the gas-guzzling Hellcat. Of course add a bit of rain or some snow/ice on the road surfaces plus $3.00+ @ gallon fuel prices and the show's over.
They didn't bother to talk about the degrading effect that Colorado's altitude has on HP. That's a hit to the GT's 305 hp; that engine is normally aspirated, so I can safely promise you it's NOT actually putting out 305 hp. They're probably getting 250 hp at Dacono's altitude, maybe a little more. The Hellcat, on the other hand, with its forced induction, is still making all 500 hp (or 707 hp, if they'd actually used the black keyfob). Was still interesting to see the GT pull out in front for the first 50 feet...all four wheels pulling does make a difference.
They're squeezing things in as it is. Adding a huge v8 to am already cramped drivetrain just isn't possible. I'm sure they'll make it some day but for now, the V6 sells like hotcakes and the awd sells in the northern states for practicality.

I own a Charger Hellcat. At this point you're all sounding rather silly because there are some MUCH better tire options for the Hellcat and everyone knows it. The stock tires are a good compromise that also gave them the top speed they wanted to promote, but by now it's time to move on and get the right tires.
The car doesn't "really really need all wheel drive" it just really really needs a proper driver who can do better than 0-60 mph in a Hellcat than 5.3 seconds. Just sayin! Still love Roman and The Fast Lane Car show!
Honestly... did dodge need an AWD V6 Challenger? The thing is so heavy it barely spins in rear wheel drive when you mash the throttle. Way too little horsepower for how heavy the car is to put an AWD system in it. At least that's what my opinion is

Honestly. Why are you buying an American Muscle car if you want a small V6 with AWD. Subaru does a fantastic job with their WRX. Likewise, Dodge should keep making the powerful RWD V8s which is what gives them character and its the market they fulfill. Don't try to make this car fill a market it doesn't belong in.

That trans can't handle more than twice the power it's intended for. Even when they made the 5.7 AWD 300s, the horsepower was under 400.

it wouldnt be a muscle car without rear wheel drive thats the problem with making them awd i do think having the option to buy one in all wheel drive would be nice for some people though but if i where to buy one of these i would go rear wheel every day of the week because its much more fun to drive awd is just boring
