Good event imo. The woman's and HHH match might've dragged it down but still, The SD Title match was one of a kind and the Rumble is fun. What did you think of Royal Rumble 2003?
Torrie and Dawn's match wasn't bad at all just too short. It would be nice to see more videos and focus on the women's division from 2002-04 instead of the focus always being on the men from that era.
Fun fact: The Michaels Jericho fued was not gonna happen at first it was supposed to be originally a one off between both men and Michaels still wasn't sure he can still hang in there which is why they gave Jericho Test as a second fued for a bit in early 03.
The first half of the royal rumble is arguably the greatest in history, the second half wasn’t as good but it was still a really good match. Also angle vs Benoit was amazing, nice video.
I remember during this time wwe got several wcw talent and only like a handful stayed past 2 years 😂😂 the invasion angle was just heartbreaking here's to hoping they could do it successfully with so many rival companies these days
Do you ever have one of those shows that you like for how the venue looks? This is one of them. I love how the arena looks for this event from stage to graphics and ring.
The best match on the show was Benoit vs Angle a classic match between two masters of the craft with really great spots plus both men benefited from the match Angle became a top heel heading into WM19 and for Benoit this match was the start of his main event push. Legit one of my all time favourite matches.
I was 10 years old at the time and this was the second ppv my Dad ordered. I was and still am a big Chris Jericho fan. When he got tossed I threw a fit! He should have lasted until the final 4 before HBK cost him.
The stage at this event was really unique. Yes it WAS raining. There was a constant flow of water coming down placed over that huge screen to the left behind JR and King. They had a projector that placed the graphics over the “rain” which made it look really cool.
That's wild cause I had it recorded in vhs 2 and watched it over and over... That, plus wrestlemania 18... Also major payne and happy gilmore lol. Childhood
Angle vs Benoit was legendary and one for the ages. It showed the true passion of technical wrestling while Brock Lesnar's rise was amazing and showed his dominance as WWE's new top star. WHC match was terrible
I would have loved to see Lance Strom on SmackDown!. I feel he would have a better WWE Career on the blue brand. Especially when Edge got hurt, he could have been a good replacement for that SmackDown 6 spot
This ppv really showed the difference between smackdown and raw. Like smackdown had a incredible Angle v Benoit that showed the technical wrestling side, how a story could be compelling and have a incredible match, dawn Marie v torrie Wilson had a decent story but also showed women on smackdown had little direction something raw did better and brock v big show was fun and still a good match for the small amount of time. Smackdown can tell a good story even if the match is short. RAW on the other hand was a bit of a headache tbh. The titles on RAW were either switched a lot or in case of the whc went on way too long without it being compelling or interesting. Raw was definitely the 2nd rate show during this time. Triple h v steiner was dreadful and the dq finish was the nail in the coffin, dudleys v regal and storm wasn't bad just not interesting like at all. The Rumble Match is definitely in the top 10 id say
Scott Steiner was still injured when he returned and was rushed on to the roster then because WWE had no one to feed to Triple H they made Steiner a babyface, they should have had Steiner as joint second top heel with Chris Jericho and after Triple H/Evolution. Raw had Shawn Michaels, Kane, Booker T, RVD and Jeff Hardy as babyfaces so right there would have been at least 6-7 months of feuds for Steiner in 2003 then they had The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Edge and Rey Mysterio on SmackDown so they booked Steiner so poorly and killed his character immediately.
"GIMME THAT FUCKIN MIC!!!" You're a saint for not tearing into that Steiner/Trips match until you finished reviewing it. I think they didn't let them fight during the build up to prevent Steiner from injuring someone or himself. Steiner's one of my favorites but dude's been terrible after 99 at the latest. This was one of the better Rumble matches despite not having that many memorable returns or overly swervy angles. I vaguely remember them teasing Ministry Taker and thought they were gonna do something with him, DA Sean O'Haire (one of my favorite wrestlers to get the Marty Jannetty treatment) and the new and improved Big Show. They ended up burying him alive on my 17th bday at that year's Survivor Series, so I put two and two together and figured they were gonna bring back the Deadman gimmick.
Gosh I remember watching Hunter vs Steiner, 18 minutes felt like 30 minutes, it just dragged way too long, and it was clear they have no chemistry. I've yet to have seen No Way Out, but I see it also has a DUD.
Isn’t it ironic that they hated the multiple belly to belly but later on they loved when Brock did 1,000 German suplex every match. Even tho that match was awful.
What made this Big Show different to the "jobber to the stars" he was usually portrayed as? Yes he beat Lesnar at Survivor Series (Took Lesnar having kayfabe and real injuries + a Paul Heyman turn but still) but he immediately lost that title to Angle the next month at Armageddon and whenever he was put in a high profile match with Lesnar, Angle, Taker etc. he would always lose in this era.
2003 damn talk about star power Rey mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, christian, RVD, hardy boys, john cena, EDge, Chris Jericho, booker T, Shawn Michaels, Brock lesnar, Kane, Batista, undertaker damn future world champions n hall of famers.
The opening match of the 1993 WWF Royal Rumble was The Beverly Brothers versus The Steiner Brothers. From Arco Arena in Sacramento, California. Spoiler Alert: Steiners win it. Ten years later, this time from FleetCenter in Boston, Massachusetts, Scott Steiner, now known as "Big Poppa Pump" returns under the WWE Banner at the Royal Rumble for RAW'S World Heavyweight Championship against Triple H. Of course, Helmsley won it, with interference.
17:42 u can clearly see shawn blading himself. Can anyone explain me wtf he would do that, if Chris would’ve eliminated him anyways a few seconds later? Idk if u want to add juice make it at least worth it.
I just watch it for the first time and all I see is HHH not having any intention to fight, all he does is sliding, staying down, doing everything terribly slow, and the sequences between them make me think they have 0 chemistry, everything they do doesn't fit. It was like HHH wanted to be champion without doing anything, in that period he was heavy, slow, a sandbag
Good event imo. The woman's and HHH match might've dragged it down but still, The SD Title match was one of a kind and the Rumble is fun. What did you think of Royal Rumble 2003?

Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit, that’s all
FACCCTSSSS!!! BEST ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH EVERR!!!!
It Was And Still Is An Unforgettable Masterpiece!
Smackdown was absolutely a magnificent product at the time
And still is honestly
I like JR's and King's quote about Cena's rap
King: "Did you like the rap JR?"
JR: "Yeah, 90 seconds of what the hell is he saying?"
Angle/Benoit is my favorite match ever at a Royal Rumble. An absolute masterclass of wrestling.
Just caught the notification while I was searching for something to watch while eating dinner... Right on time...
So I'm not the only person that does this. Dude always comes thru at the nick of time.

Yes and then Test got hurt and Y2J had to fight Jeff Hardy at No Way Out.
@@thedoctor8 He didn’t get hurt him and Stacy missed the Raw before no way out due to weather issues so therefore he got replaced with Hardy
2003 had a lot of forgettable participants

Undertaker: I think not
The first half of the royal rumble is arguably the greatest in history, the second half wasn’t as good but it was still a really good match. Also angle vs Benoit was amazing, nice video.
Yeah but I liked Cenas rap in the royal rumble
Overall I’d say that this rumble is decent. The HHH match might’ve been a bit lackluster, but the rumble was good
As for the theme song, it’s the b side to the Vengeance 2002 theme, Downfall. Two great themes, two great events.
The Steiner/HHH title match in a nutshell:
IT'S S**T!!!
Benoit/Angle title Match in a nutshell:
😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍!!!
weird that Cena was wearing a full pants and also this is the closest we see Brock and Batista fought in a WWE ring
Unforgiven 06 and WM 21 for me.
Angle vs Benoit is my favorite WWE title match of all time. Besides that this Rumble was just meh to me.

We’re so lucky Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit had the opportunity to cross paths in the WWE. Always top tier matches from the two 👏🏼💯
My all time favourite Rumble match because I had it on VCR and would watch it all the time !!
That's wild cause I had it recorded in vhs 2 and watched it over and over... That, plus wrestlemania 18...

I think 2003 RR has hands down the most star power of any RR next to 2002.
The theme song was hard the stage set was 🔥 angle vs Benoit 💯 the rumble match was pretty stacked too
Keep these up you got me into This amazing sport
Man wrestling premier a goat🔥🔥
Beniot/Angle is one of the best matches ever.
To think that Angle vs Benoit came right after Triple H vs Scott Steiner...
Thank you man! I've been dying for somebody to cover the 2003 Royal Rumble for months now!
This was my first year watching WWE and my first show that I watched was Thursday night Smackdown. Smack your TV. Only old fans know that slogan.
I WAS JUST GOT DONE TALKING ABOUT ROYAL RUMBLE 2003. Without a doubt one of the perfect rumble matches.
Got this DVD and love it
I loved this Rumble it wasn't as good as the 02 Rumble but I still loved it
Angle vs Benoit was legendary and one for the ages. It showed the true passion of technical wrestling while Brock Lesnar's rise was amazing and showed his dominance as WWE's new top star. WHC match was terrible
2:20 Holy smokes I bet that hurt.
Angle/Benoit alone is worth watching it. It's my 2nd favorite match of ALL-TIME!
Those two against each other or vs Jericho were incapable of a bad match
Dude, you are amazing !!! Keep it up 👍

Are you from the Midwest or Canada? I love your accent by the way!
I believe HHH and Duke Droose had a qualifying match at a Royal Rumble event before. Can’t recall what year.
Even The Game couldn’t get a good match out of Big Poppa Pump
I laughed a bunch of times while you were going through the Triple H-Scott Steiner match.
I dont blame HHH at all for that match. Steiner was beong very sloopy and clumsy the whole match.
Yea past his prime WCW was his best time and when his tag time
Yeah Steiner was absolutely terrible. It’s beyond me why some people thought he deserved to be champ.
Steiner had foot never injury which he hid that's why he had terrible matches. In tna he was healthy and had better matches
Scott Steiner was still injured when he returned and was rushed on to the roster then because WWE had no one to feed to Triple H they made Steiner a babyface, they should have had Steiner as joint second top heel with Chris Jericho and after Triple H/Evolution.

It's called sandbagging. Triple H shares blame for the mediocre match.

Isn’t it ironic that they hated the multiple belly to belly but later on they loved when Brock did 1,000 German suplex every match. Even tho that match was awful.

Kurt Angle said on his podcast that he concerns this match the greatest one he EVER had- bit of trivia for you.
I love the royal rumble video the most
One of the best rumbles of the RA Era
This royal rumble had the best theme !!! 👍
I remember being 6 years old and knowing even then that Steiner/HHH match was crap
Big Nose Paul definitely politic'd Steiner because when he came in he was over af and would have took his spot at least as number 2 on Raw
Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns, Dawn Marie Torrie Wilson. 2 good rivalries
Who knew Raw was buttchecks all the way from 2003
