They played at the Laneway Festival in Brisbane Australia earlier this year, and I'll tell you now, their live performance can't be done justice unless you're there to experience it.

What the heck is going on these days? I saw these guys at Coachella W1 and lost my mind dancing. Why are all videos on RUclips for Chvrches filled with boring hipsters who can barely muster a head nod or raised hand!? Perhaps that is what I was surrounded by at Coachella but I was just too wrapped up in their amazing sound to notice. All I know is I was sweating like a mother fucker by the time their set was done! A+ !!!!

+Farfy McDoogle Indie concerts, there are usually not much dancing. Most ppl go to these concerts cuz they enjoy the music not because they enjoy to dance. It'd be sorta like rocking out at a classical performance.

there SHOULD be a difference between studio and live. If you want it to sound exactly like the record then why even bother going, just play the record at home. The whole idea behind a 'performance' is seeing/hearing humans actually do something, not listening to artificially made sounds. Then again this is not a traditional 'band' so that's probably why we are having this discussion

There style of music isn’t meant to sound super real it’s meant to have that strange airy echo-y type sound to it her voice is able to do it but they need echoing and reverb to try and at least emulate what they release in their albums
it occurs to me that she probably sang "Shape by the clearest blue" once and then they just looped it using technology. A good example is the comedian Reggie Watts, where this is his entire routine.
Because it didn't sound like playback from the album version to me.
