I definitely use the strap when on the move! A genius hack is to buy two ‘trigger clasps’ for £1.99 and boom, you’ve got a removable strap like Peak Design.
I don't use straps that come with the camera. Yeah, having any type of flip-forward screen is super useful for solo creator work. The A6400 seems best as a lower cost studio camera for the sit-down filming type work.
I definitely use the strap. And flip screens are awesome... But i like the Canon, Panasonic, and Olympus designs (side flip with full articulation) better than Sony's.
been waiting for this ❤️🔥❤️❤️ edit; the rolling shutter is beyond horrible, but I found that in normal day-to-day videos/vlogs people dont really notice it, and if they do, you can just simply fix it in post which does do a very mild crop but if you're using a 10-18mm lens, the crop isn't even noticeable and it takes away the rolling shutter 70-80% :) the slog on this camera is straight fire. in my opinion it shoots better video than the gh5. what do you think?
I wouldn’t say better video than the gh5 but I’m more impressed with the a6400 then I thought I would be. The rock solid autofocus with the flip up screen and small size make this like the perfect camera for what I need. My main hesitation is no matter what Sony says I still don’t believe they are going to support APSC the way they do full frame. Like give me a lens roadmap so I can be at ease.
Hello sir i have question about which camera should buy a6400 or a7iii ?? I'm using now canon750d and want to upgrade my usual usage is to get best clarity pictures and some videography work..pls help me
Team NO-STRAP here. In Southeast Asia, there are a lot of snatch thieves on motorcycles that target people with cameras or purses on shoulder straps. The strap makes it easier to grab the camera as they race by. I removed the strap on my camera and just hold it by the grip as I walk around so that the snatch thieves have no strap to grab hold of. At least that is the theory. 😎
I don't want all the crap... LOL! I just want a flippy screen.... The image looks good. Very good. IBIS would be nice but can't have everything. Is it weather sealed.
AndretheDias actually to my knowledge the RX10IV (not sure about the previous versions) is weather sealed too. Far less than what the RX0 can do (that tiny guy is a beast in durability) but it has basic moisture and dust resistance.
You mention that APSC is your favorite sensor size... assuming this includes full-frame sensors, why is that? Is it because you like the inherent zoom? Is it more about bang for buck? Or is there something you’d say is objectively better when compared to full frame?
I ordered a cage from SmallRig's website made for the A6400. Hoping that they designed it so you can see more of the flip screen. But hey I record off my iPhone right now with my iWatch as a monitor so even if there is some slight blockage better than a bluetooth connection to an iWatch! hahaha ya I am a rookie----
The strap is really useful because if you put it around your neck and hang the camera off it, you can get some really smooth panning shots and videos in general. I use it all the time for stable footage
I use the peak design cuff. Works well for fast disconnects when throwing the camera on the gimbal and not have to deal with it when I put it on my bag with the PD clip
I use the strap, but I have put on quick detachable clips for it. So when I. Shooting off of a tripod then I can quickly take it off and not have it in the way. I picked you the 18-135 lens with mine and I'm super impressed with it
I think it so overheats in 4k, but not in 1080.. the only reason i would upgrade to this is if it really doesn't overheat in all the video modes. I use the strap with some adjustments so i can leave it off very quickly or attach it when needed.
I use the strap (just got the A6000, replacing my NEX-5 😅), but I more often wrap the strap around my wrist and hand while shooting. I only hang it on my neck if I need to get my hands free to get something lol
I am using the stock strap with a peak design capture to perform smooth B-roll and daily carrying for my M50. Planning to get a peak design leash to replace the current setup.
I probably missed it somewhere, but I never heard why you sold your M50. It seemed like an ideal outdoor camera for you, especially considering ease-of-use and the screen flipping out to the side. Did you replace it with the Osmo Pocket, by any chance?
Hi Gary, Thanks for the first look at the Sony A6400! I'll be interested in seeing how this camera stacks up during your reviews and testing. Thank you, sure hope you are feeling better!
I've owned 5 diferent sony cameras so far have only used the straps 1 time where I had to one man shoot a sweet 16 , photo and video so i put my a7 and a6300 on straps. I mostly shoot video with my a7iii rigged up and so many ppl who own sony cameras have these small rig cages so I doubt any one uses the official sony strap
Is there ANY PICTURE QUALITY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 6300 AND 6400 also Taking some Nikons into consideration? Colors doesn't matter and NOW THE À6300 IS SELLING FOR UNDER 750DOLLARS! How's the buffer for sports?
I’m currently going through this same dilemma. The xt3 has much better video options and the lenses are great. The the a6400 flip up screen and rock solid autofocus is really intriguing me. I think it might be a perfect camera for my kind of video.
What tip the scale for me towards the a6400 was the sigma contemporary lenses that are available for the Sony E mount systems... awesome prime lenses for a great value. Also amazing for gimbal work.. despite the pros and cons of either systems, you can’t go wrong with either one.. good luck!!
I’d get a cheap cage and angle grind the top off, by the screen, then side mount the audio on the cage. I’d get it with the sigma 16f1.4 and the 56f1.4, hopefully it still focuses well with third party lenses.
I thought battery in a camera that you can charge are better than a charger and battery pack. Since you can charge your battery when you shooting video for a long time or a timelaspe. Can you give me your opinion. Thanks
I mostly use the strap. Handheld and away from a controlled environment it's like asking to drop your camera. That being said i can understand that it can obstruct certain uses in filmmaking especially if you are using a cane with a lot of extras
Nice! Can’t wait to see you review this camera. I own this one and have owned some of the cameras you have reviewed in the past. It will be good to see if I agree with the stuff you say or if you reviews focus on things that I find unimportant/don’t affect my production at all.
This man is the biggest fan of a6400..I just bought a ef m canon lens for my new camera that was supposed to be canon eos m6 mark ii but at the last minute just change my mind and i ll go for a6400...I paid 26euro for nothing 😢just to return the lens...Anyway hope I ll get the a6400 and it ll be worth it
All in all i think its a great cam for the price...but i really dont get why the screen flip system had to be so flimsy and complicated? Why all those joints and thin lil cage to hold it all together? Why not just one single articulation system to the side like most Canons? And no ibis...c'mon Sony...
I love the Sony alpha series and I’m thrilled they finally released a new version with a flip screen 🙌🏼 I still have the a5100 even though the flash stopped working years ago lol. It’s not in my budget to get one right now but whenever I can I definitely want one ❤️
Hey I'm a small youtuber and I was intersted in this camera but I also wanted the 80d because I have a t5i and some lenses for that. Which would be a good option, got with the cheaper 80d body, or save some extra money for this camera?
I still use a strap unless the camera is on a tripod. Helpful to free up a hand for coffee to get the jitters and test IS😂It's also helpful to stabilize footage. The 6400 looks pretty darn good initially. Hope it hold up! I've been thinking about flippy screens for photography lately. Full flip is a little fiddley at times, which led me to......tilting can be handy for low or high angles and might be quicker.
I'm sure you know by now that smallrig has a small adapter that moves the hot shoe to the side and is almost not visible, at like 13 dollars plus. Good review.
I love the authenticity of your reviews! We can definitely trust your judgement 😅 Did you keep this camera? Do you recommend it? Do you have a video on the settings that you used with it for photography? Looking forward to reading your reply
Great video my dude! Sometimes I do use the strap lol When I am hiking orrr to give me some stability on some of my broll. Can you still use a USB type C? On the A7iii I got a micro USB but there is a port for USB type C which I use to charge the A7iii.
Almost bought an a6400 but went with an RX10m4 instead as it fit my needs better. And I did use the strap on my previous Canon but won’t be using the new Sony strap 😉
when I bought my Sony A6000, I put the strap on but I noticed its making noise when I hand it when Im vlogging while walking.... I feel so stupid, I had no choice but to upload those videos😁😁 now that strap landed back to the box 😂😂

I use the strap cuz I'm not tryna drop it 🤷♂️
Erik Rulkens ok mom
I use a strap but not the strap that comes with the camera.. Peak Design slide lite all the way!!!
Anyone considering buying one in 2024?
Tbh, it is worth it if you are a beginer starting out...
Meeeeeee
Me!
@@morota9332 Got yours?
Yes just sold my A7iv to downsize to it and couldn’t be happier
The a6400 looks really good! I'm so glad they added the flip out screen! Really interesting on how it comes out!
I wish it was a flip out screen like my cannon, and not a flip up.
I don't use straps that come with the camera. Yeah, having any type of flip-forward screen is super useful for solo creator work. The A6400 seems best as a lower cost studio camera for the sit-down filming type work.

Did you end up deciding which one to get?
You buy more cameras than I do.
On a side note, your image quality was better than anything I could get out of this thing. Oh well.
Yeah you’ve gotta be able to speak Sony to get the best out of it. I’m actually a really big fan of the image quality I’m getting out of this thing.
How about in the low light condition for both cameras Tedd?
I don't want all the crap... LOL! I just want a flippy screen.... The image looks good. Very good. IBIS would be nice but can't have everything. Is it weather sealed.
Yeah I'd like to know the answer to that as well!
I don’t believe it is.
Bummer. Thanks brother.
What do you want IBIS for? I know the benefits of it, but how often are you walking around vlogging vs stationary shots?
AndretheDias actually to my knowledge the RX10IV (not sure about the previous versions) is weather sealed too. Far less than what the RX0 can do (that tiny guy is a beast in durability) but it has basic moisture and dust resistance.
This week is gonna be Awesome with that piece of camera. Greettings from Peru!
I definitely agree! Thanks so much!
You mention that APSC is your favorite sensor size... assuming this includes full-frame sensors, why is that?
Is it because you like the inherent zoom? Is it more about bang for buck? Or is there something you’d say is objectively better when compared to full frame?
Love your personality and presenting style, thanks for another great review!

I can't stand the camera strap that comes in the box, the peak design camera straps are way better.
A lot of people recommend those to me. I should give them a shot 👍
Your reviews are getting better and better!
Great video as always mate! 📷
Thanks so much! 😁👍
I use the peak design cuff. Works well for fast disconnects when throwing the camera on the gimbal and not have to deal with it when I put it on my bag with the PD clip
I use the strap for photography and cause I don't have a gimble or steady cam I use it for smooth pans and tilts
I use the strap, but I have put on quick detachable clips for it. So when I. Shooting off of a tripod then I can quickly take it off and not have it in the way. I picked you the 18-135 lens with mine and I'm super impressed with it

“dad jokes” 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks, that shows me why SmallRig has a dedicated A6400 cage coming out
I use the strap (just got the A6000, replacing my NEX-5 😅), but I more often wrap the strap around my wrist and hand while shooting. I only hang it on my neck if I need to get my hands free to get something lol
What causes the image quality to be jittery at 9:18 ??
I am using the stock strap with a peak design capture to perform smooth B-roll and daily carrying for my M50. Planning to get a peak design leash to replace the current setup.
What tripod did you have your Z6 mounted on?
Some big ol’ ancient one I cant remember the name of 🤣
I don't use the strap which came with my camera, I use a wrist one for my G7.
I probably missed it somewhere, but I never heard why you sold your M50. It seemed like an ideal outdoor camera for you, especially considering ease-of-use and the screen flipping out to the side. Did you replace it with the Osmo Pocket, by any chance?
I use a wrist strap for small cameras like the A6000 series. Prevents a fatal fall and isn’t so big and unwieldy.
Very nice camera and another great video. This camera, I would love to be able to try out. I've always liked Sony cameras.
I make travel content. The strap included in the box is an advertisement to get mugged lol I use an off brand strap if I use one at all.
Also best to put a piece of black tape over da Sony on the front of the camera
Like a gross piece of twine or something? 😁👍
Hi Gary, Thanks for the first look at the Sony A6400! I'll be interested in seeing how this camera stacks up during your reviews and testing. Thank you, sure hope you are feeling better!
I’m actually darn impressed with it so far, but we’ll put it through its paces before long 😁👍
@@TheEverydayDad Good to hear and I'll be watching for you putting the new camera through its paces, thank you!

As always I love the video. Just got my a6400 last week and loving it. FYI on the outside portion the sky was blown out when recording with the 6400.
The focus was perfect! Debating to buy xt3 18-55 or a6400 18-135 plus gimble $1700 price range what would u do?
You need a gimble for then xt-3 as well. The fuji thiugh has much better video features and menus and options. But it's also much more expensive
I’m currently going through this same dilemma. The xt3 has much better video options and the lenses are great.
The the a6400 flip up screen and rock solid autofocus is really intriguing me. I think it might be a perfect camera for my kind of video.

You said "out and about" like you are some crazy Canadian !
hahahahah
Well all the big camera youtubers are Canadian so might as well try to fit in 🤣🤣
Really great video!
I don't use the strap that came with my camera. I like to be pretty discrete with what camera i'm using.
I can’t wait to see the rest
Me either 🤣
I use the strap on my new m50.. and I picked up an m3 and also use the strap
Nice! I might need to actually break a strap out someday soon 😁👍
Another great video
Good thing you made a space between strap and on! 😁👍
nice, I had an M3 and upgraded to an M6 and eyeing the M50 in a few months!
Lmao.... thank God for that space...m50 a sweet camera
Also no strap, I got that peak design quick release straps and Arca Swis plate! Which are amazing
Thanks
Hi
I bought a6400 camera 2 hours ago. How many hours should I charge for the first time ??(How many hours is the initial charge?)
Your RUclips lighting looks great! What light are you using as your key light?
Make a video about canon m50 vs sony a6400!!!!

Just that unlimited recording time and af is enough to beat like 90% camras.
With the battery charge faster using apple big cube that outputs 2.4A???
I’m not a camera expert and would like to upgrade my my lens. Can I use a FE lens on a sony a6400 with out loosing quality?

I have lots of videos on that exact subject
@@TheEverydayDad I meant to say the newer budget friendly vlogging cameras
Yep got them all on the channel.
can this camera streame live to youtube and rtmp sorces?strait from camera?
I would like to see the 1080p 120 FPS video quality on the A6400
Does it have a touchscreen, or is it just for focusing the shot?

Lighting looks different and really good. Seems more soft and difused and temps look better for skin tone. Not that anything was bad before

I personally do not!
