My grandparents lived next door to Frank Sinatra in Hoboken, NJ in the 1930s...The song titled, "The Girl Next Door," was my mother...

Explanation for the kids and possibly dad: the "Dirty Rat" and before that " the silly voice on "Because I've Got You..." was a joke, an imitation of another famous movie star, James Cagney...he was imitating James Cagney's voice, famous sayings in his movies, and physical mannerisms. if you don;t know old movie stars, of course you would not understand why the audience laughed

Great to see young people listening to classic music such as Frank Sinatra. I suggest you react to Angelina Jordan who is 15 years old and has covered about 80 different artists, mostly jazz greats from decades ago. She also has 7 original songs and has become my all time favorite musical artist. She won Norway's Got Talent at age 8 and sang "Summertime" in the Finals. Actor James Cagney is credited for saying "You dirty rat" in a 1932 movie, but he actually never said it. How about reacting to 13 year old Brenda Lee performing Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree?

True on Cagney never saying that, same as Bogart never said "Play it again Sam" like everyone seems to believe, if they even KNOW who he was 😂

My daughter loves music from the 50s and 60s, and when she first asked about it as a little girl, she said what’s that music grandpa likes that’s like Christmas music? And, the “you dirty rat” comment was a movie reference. Sinatra loved to joke around during his live concerts, and that was a reference to an old James Cagney mobster film.
