This one a passenger will see when departing from FRA. If a passenger has a connecting flight, well , perhaps consider yourself lucky, b.c. You are already within the busy airport.
Yet, inside it still is confusing:
Perhaps not so much for business travelers, but for visitors, especially for the elderly. (B.c. the long walkways between connections - the supposedly help for handicapped does not work there: you are dropped on a bench and have to wait for your pick-up again - no chance to use a bathroom or get s.th. to drink or eat.
      Not well planned.

I had a seven hour layover in Frankfurt in late 2017 on my way to Buenos Aires. I had booked assistance ,but inadvertently booked the incorrect lounge. Airport staff essentially adopted me for seven hours, driving me in the little buggies, changing my lounge booking to a more convenient one, chatting with me about my eventual destination (Ushuaia) and generally being nice people. Everyone I encountered seemed to love what they were doing, and everyone spoke some English! It's the people who make it!

Frankfurt is a nightmare to navigate. I like the simplicity of my home airport of San Diego. When people are deboarding either a domestic or international flight there they heard you through the series of checkpoints you need to get through. There is no second guessing where you are supposed to go for customs, for baggage pick up, for car rental or car/ taxi service. You are streamlined into a singular option and friendly people are there along the way to help you. At Frankfurt it was just so massive, signs would start to tell you where to go and then suddenly stop directing you, and there is constant construction that makes things like rental car returns a headache.

I was a bit confused by the title - if anybody else is wondering, Frankfurt is the most "well-connected" airport i.e. the airport with the most non-stop destinations, but not the airport with the most connecting traffic (which I assume is one of the middle eastern hubs, or maybe Atlanta).

Frankfurt is such a massive hub and transfer airport for the same reason Atlanta is here in the US- Because they serve as super hubs for an airline

Absolutely incredible. I just flew through FRA yesterday, and was so impressed by the bag drop system. I never would've guessed that so many people work on the campus, but I think that's so cool about Germany's private airports. MUC is similar, in that it has a ton of office and conference space integrated near the terminal. Rather than making the airport a totally insular and utilitarian space like in the US, Germany seems to make their airports centers of commerce and productivity, extremely well-integrated into the transit network. Many lessons to be learned.

I have several Frankfurt airport stories, but my favorite by far was staying in the air-side transit hotel on a sleepy Sunday evening; relaxing in bed with a window that looked out over the ramp and runway as planes arrived, taxied, and departed with a beer vending machine just down the hall was as close to first class luxury as I have ever come.

Also the airport hotels for long or overnight layovers are convenient. I love the forest trails next to the airport as well. I used to work on the ramp (apron) for United in Denver. You explained all of that "under the wing" activity very well. The highlight of my shifts were when I got to do the "push backs" for the planes althought we didn't use those huge tugs you were in. Downside of Denver is working outside loading and pushing planes in sub zero weather and snow.

I felt so happy about how employees and management feel about it’s customers, and complete nostalgia when you guys were pushing that gorgeous A330. I was in the Navy and my squadron has huge P-3C Orions, too big for aircraft carriers, and one of my jobs was a lineman. I’d have to drive huge vehicles called to move our aircraft and I also was responsible to help launch and recover our planes. The coolest, was in one of our 18:52 deployments where our pilots reversed the blades of our planes so they can go backwards and I’d have to guide them park backwards into their spot. Coolest job!!

Fantastic video start to finish! Thanks for all the hard work you and Suzanne put into these and for highlighting the great professionals who make it all possible. Flying out of GSO soon heading to Geneva on the new Delta route - see you in the skies!

It’s really interesting to read about the inner workings of a busy airport. Thanks!

Long time fan but I put off watching this video for two weeks. I live ten minutes from Newark airport and for the last 25 years have traveled to Germany at least twice a year. Which means I usually have to go through Frankfurt and have no love for that airport. Long lines with multiple security checks is beyond annoying. I try to fly direct to Munich instead. But, this video did give me a new appreciation for the facility. You showed me how multiple employees are trying to keep the place running with all that traffic. So thanks for that and hugs ro Suzanne.

This video turned out to be better than I expected. Such a joy to see an airport that's not across the world on this series.
Unfortunately it looks like you have visited when some of their "celebrities" - thanks to the German documentary series 'Mittendrin - Flughafen Frankfurt' - either were busy otherwise or not on duty at all.
Nevertheless you have provided us with some very nice insights, facts and views. Thank you and Fraport for this opportunity.

I had a family member experience a medical emergency in the Frankfurt airport. The response was as swift, well managed, and organized as you could ever hope for. I’ll always be grateful to the airport operations folks for their work that day.
