The name says it all. Bose Quiet Comfort… Ultra earbuds. It’s a pretty bold claim. I would love to have ultra comfortable earbuds and ultra strong ANC when I travel or work on my laptop or I don’t know, even when I work out.

ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
ANC Test
Total blocked = 65.2dB
The quietest earbuds I’ve ever tested.
Crowd sounds test
Foam tips could help if you really wanted to improve this
Wind - Blocks most of the wind despite ANC being active but you can still hear the wind a bit. The mic test will demonstrate this better in a few minutes.
I like to use these when I travel. ANC is great, but that is worthless if earbuds aren’t comfortable so let’s take a closer look at that.
Comfort and fit analysis
3 pairs Ear tips
3 pairs Wing tips with new notch to make it easier to swap
I am not sure exactly what is different but these stay in my ears WAY better than the ii’s
So far the Quiet Comfort name seems to be quite fitting. Of course, we have a few more things to test and discuss, including some new features that you might not have expected.
Sound analysis
Snapdragon sound certified
Qualcomm aptX Adaptive - FINALLY! Low latency and high res
Pixel fold doesn’t have aptX adaptive so I am using my nothing phone(2)
I actually really like the sound profile of these!
Plenty capable bass and subbass
Warm and pleasant sound
More detailed than the previous generation
A bit boomy, but the EQ can help with that. For many genres, honestly the boomy sound is ideal
I listened to The War On Drugs which has a lot of layers and just tons of stuff going on. These kept up and made it feel like I was there. Dynamic and lively sound
Sometimes, if I am not playing music, I hear strange static and beeping sounds in the left bud
And following that thread of traveling, you obviously need the battery life to last the whole flight. Here in the US, pretty much any domestic flight is 6 hrs or less.
6/24 hrs battery with ANC (4/16 with immersion)
So what is immersion mode?
One of the big new features.

Aware Mode analysis
And let’s be honest, I’ll wear whatever at home but if I am in an office with other people, I need my earbuds to look good.
Much smaller than the first gen from a few years ago but still not tiny
Similar in design to the QCEii
Two colors available
New metallic finish on the outside looks clean!
Case has wireless charging or USB-C
Case is pretty easy to clean
MICROPHONE TEST
Dynamic microphone filters
Unfortunately, there is no true multipoint connectivity, but in the app, you can switch between multiple devices.

Update: I misspoke. I am sad to say the case does NOT have wireless charging 😔
Seriously?? That's ridiculous for a pair of $300 earbuds
Can I use that charging case in this review to charge my original quietcomfort earbuds ii ?
Why don't you review openear earbuds???
overprice crap. no wireless charging and true multipoint connection at that price lol
They are selling a wireless charging case separately🤦♂️ who is the person approving all these moves…Bose is seriously losing a lot of customers…I have been a Bose customer for over 12 years I have the qc buds 2 the mic on it is horrible ppl are always complaining, no multi point and no wireless charging case

Bump
And the best part... there's no find my earbuds feature...
Lifesaver
I am still waiting for Bose to update the QC II to get multi-point as they promised. If they don't get that update, I will not even consider buying another Bose product. It has been over a year now. They did eventually get independent use so come on Bose.
They never promised to add multipoint on the QCs II. The update was only going to add the snapdragon sound feature, but you're right they're taking forever
You might as well give up now...
They're not gonna do that, besides Bose is horrible with updates. They break rather than fix things...
QC II is very unreliable as well
Agreed with all that above. The Bluetooth connection is unreliable. Otherwise, I love them.
After 12 months, it's time to give up. It's also telling that it wasn't released with the the QC ultra
Hi Mike, I really enjoy the earbud videos!
I had the quiet comfort tubes and ended up switching over to the xm5 and found them to be more reliable and less buggy. Also, if an earbud disconnected it would shut off and turn back on again triggering its ear detectioncycle.
Are these less annoying than the qc 2?
As a very sensitive person when it comes to noise, I am deeply grateful for the Ultra's ANC. Amazing stuff.
I'm autistic and these are my favourite earbuds, love the noise cancellation :)
Hey same situation here. I am planning to buy these. Have you tried them yet and would you recommend primarily for ANC?
fyi: I am upgrading from galaxy buds pro.
How did you make the earphones turn on
@@soumyaripan5131 I find the sound quality very good. I miss a couple of features I had with my galaxy buds, such as more control over battery status (both case and buds), and the ability to turn on and off the touch controls. But the ANC is so good with the Ultras that it's a very easy compromise.
@@Blessedandfavored7 they're always on when you take them out of the case, you just have to get them paired with your device and you're good to go.
Hello Mike, thank you for the great review of the Bose QC Ultra. I just got mine, and I'm still adapting to it since I've been a Jabra 85T user for a long time. One thing that is getting my attention is the delay when I tap the Ultra earbud, which could be for anything, like stopping/starting music or changing the mode. It has a delay or lag between the action and the response to it. If you have any ideas I would appreciate it. Of course that could be only a time for me to adapt to the Ultra, but this doesn't happen with the Jabra 85T. Thank You.
You're the first to review Bose ultra earbuds! Needed more call quality tests! 😊 Good one though!
More of a sponsored vid than a review
hey, are you testing the Bose Ultra Overear headphones? when does the embargo fall? How does the 3D sound compare to Apple Music (Dolby Atmos)
Thanks Mike! Do these support aptx lossless in addition to Snapdragon Sound?
You are the cutest tech reviewer on RUclips. And your commentary is also very good.
Great review. I've liked Bose devices I've had in the past so it's great to see these do so well.
I've had earbuds from Sony, Earfun, LG, Anker, Cambridge Audio, Shure, Sennheiser, Creative, Lypertek and most recently my first Apple airpods - the pro 2. The airpods have been my favourite all rounder to-date for the balance of ANC, transparency, audio quality, call quality, ease of use, practicality and comfort. They're the only wireless earbuds I've had which handle the sharp screeching on the London Underground Jubilee line! (I'm using iOS and also android).
I have some Bose and Sony over ears which I like for different situations but they loose out on portability.
Which ones do you like the most? The apple pros ??
Do they have this annoying white noise when you have the ANC on in a quiet room as well as the previous version?
Great video, thank you. I often listen to commercial radio whilst vacuuming my floors and mute the adverts. Do these have a mute facility?
I just got my QC II does Bose have an upgrade program? And why don't they have true multipoint? That's so important. I work on my laptop need to access my phone all day.
Phone calls sounded good with a slightest bit of distortion. I have last year’s version. I wish Bose could update the firmware in my buds to achieve some of these improvements. One update on top of another at $300 a pop is not customer friendly.
welcome to consumerism. it doesn't pay to sell a product that works forever.
Great review. When will these be available?
Hi Mike would u recommend them for the gym Thank u
So, no wireless charging or multipoint connection for $300 plus... in the last quarter of 2023. 🤔
Great job on video
Well done, you're the first and apparently only one on RUclips who reviewed the Bose QC Ultra Earbuds thus far. The KING of ANC, not even Bose's own over-ear line up can challenge that.
@@balazsh2 the predecessor QC Earbuds II already had better ANC than any other Bose product. I have no doubt the Ultras are at least as good or better.
@@balazsh2yes
@@balazsh2 yes
How does this compare to the over the ear versions. You have 65.2 in your chart. What were the Bose 700? Trying to offload carrying around bulky headphones.
Great video! Looking forward to your review of the Jabra Elite 10
I’ll give you one…. They aren’t as comfortable (for me) and the ANC is no where near the level of Bose. That said, audio drop out and Bluetooth disconnection are not issues with the JE10s. They also have multi-point…
@@joeetter9825 I have the Elite 10’s as well. I returned the QC II’s because they weren’t as comfortable for me, and had continuous dropouts. I agree that the ANC is not as good but certainly adequate enough. I was curious to see what Bose added to the “Ultra” aside from their version of spatial audio, aptX support and wireless charging at an additional cost…
In terms of the fit and the wingtips, did they use a thicker material this time around? One of the chief reasons why I (and you, it seems) had such a hard time keeping the QC IIs in my ears for extended periods of time was that the rubber/silicone/whatever-material wingtips were unbelievably thin and flimsy. They wouldn't really "hook" into the concha (the indent above your earholes) the same way that the Pixel Buds Series A do with that little silicone "finger" that sticks out of the top of each earbud. If you were exercising or even just getting a little bit of sweat inside your ears from wearing the earbuds, they'd start to slip right out and they would NOT go back in, no matter how much you'd twist and adjust them.
So, with that said, did they learn from their mistakes and use a thicker and/or less pliable material for the wingtips this time around?
From my experience, the Ultra has a much better fit compared to the QC II
I’ve got the Quiet Comfort two buds. Love em. Very quiet. I picked up the Sony XM5s and I really tried to like em but they were horrible. Was on a cruise and they blocked out nothing and hurt my ear. Picked up the Ultra Quiet Comforts a couple of days ago and I’m blown away already. I have a knock around pair of Ankers that I wear while the Bose buds charge too. These Bose are amazing!
Cuáles me recomiendas de cancelación total de ruido
I bought the Bose QC 2'S when they were released like in January and they obviously have there flaws but the nose cancelation and sound quality was great. But okay comfortable. BOSE makes great buds so i think im getting these new ones and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones. Not cheap but worth it.
Has anyone been having issues with the left earbud making a quiet buzzing/coil wine sound? I even swapped my pair for a new one to see if it was a fault with the pair, but the problem persisted.
What about the connectivity issues similar to that are present on qc earbuds ii? It's an absolute deal breaker.
I run heavy equipment and it is super loud. with the qc2's im able to not use earplugs. I expect the same with these and the fit is amazing.
The AZ80s have been touted to have transparency better than even the AirPods Pro 2, hope to see you review it
I had a set of the 2s and since day one had connection problems well 2 months before my warranty expired they stopped charging I sent them in free of charge 23 days before my warranty was up it took 4 weeks to get them back well in that time my warranty expired I was worried that that would be a problem. Well without a problem they sent me a new set of the ultras I love them. Bose! Customer for life
Thinking about replacing my XM4's with these but quick question.. can you replace the eartips with the memory line like the XM4's.
Could we please get a ranking of your top 5 True Wireless Earbuds to get in 2023?
Can i use the buds only in anc mode for noise cancellation? without connecting to the bluetooth or shall i connect to bluetooth to use them only in anc
Hi Mike, you should show when you do the tests on the noise cancellation and not only when you test the mics!
Thats great but how do I check the case battery? Love them but can't figure it out

Are this going to have a stable bluetooth connection, and the app going to find them?
Good video but I think it's really important to also cover the issues that the QC2 have and wether they still exist with these. The Bose app was super buggy resulting in constant disconnection from the buds. Many people also reported consistent audio drop outs, including myself. Also Bose announced that some of these features would be available as a firmware update for the QC2 which hasn't happened. Now they come out with these new buds, which are actually not that different from the originals, and include the firmware update that they promised for the previous version. It's super frustrating. I find that these are one of the few earbuds that stay secure in my ears which I love but some of these grievances are very suspect. Thank you for the review.
Everything you said is exactly my thoughts. Thanks. Dead on
How do you think his "review" came out way before everyone else's? I bet he agreed to shill the crap out of them and ignore or glaze over any potential issues.
@@RetroKid That may very be the case especially if he doesn't respond to any of these comments.
I returned the QC2 because the sound was too muddy, strange hiss and disconnections. I kept my old VIVO TWS 2 ANC which have a more spatial and defined sound for my tastes and support aptX adaptive for less than 80 euros. I think I'll try the VIVO TWS 3 or wait for the TWS 4 for my X70 Pro Plus. Maybe the Ultra has what's missing..... What I regret about the Bose was that they fit better in my ears but they weren't worth the price. .
anyone interested in these clearly is into owning more than one singular pair of TWS. I personally pre-ordered these strictly for noise cancellation (currently have the XM4's for this purpose). If I want good audio, I'll throw on the az70s or the Beoplay EQs. It's an excessive hobby =/
I’m pretty certain that Bose is aware of the physical issue of earbuds 2 especially the bluetooth connection error, they are just releasing new models rather than fixing the original problem. I switched to airpods pro, and I’m very satisfied. I still love Bose, but the Ultra model better be real good if they want their market to grow.
Yeah I hate the error. Happens way to often then I like. What I hate is that sony and bose r getting away with selling faulty buds and releasing updated once a yr later
Why get airpod? I rather get sony 1000xm5 tbh. Apple are expensive and they are only expensive for its brand. The quality imo drop alot especially their beats.
Thanks for the review, the first one AFAIK.
Would have been useful to highlight the updates from the QCII like wireless charging (at last!).
Disappointed, but not surprised, that you still can't turn off ANC/Aware and go straight passive. Like on the QCII il probably makes them useless for biking/running or even walking in windy environments unless you enjoy wind noise!
Please consider testing the Jabra Elite 10 that just came out and are very highly rated for ANC. Expecting mine this week!
These dont have wireless charging
This would be my 4th pair of decided to get one this year. My current now seems to ineffective when it comes to noise cancellation
Definitely getting a pair just for the ANC alone…
Have they fixed connectivity issues that have plagued passed buds?
Can you use voice activation on them for smart assistant?
Cheers Mick 👍
Just got mine as an upgrade and they are way more comfortable, new case easier for pockets.. they seem to make my eyes and Brain feel more.. what's the word I'm looking for? More.. used if that makes sense
Is there much difference between quietcomfort earbuds and quietcomfort ultra in terms of noise cancellation?
Hi Mike, can Snapdragon Sound be supported on iPhone and Windows PC? I got a pair of them yesterday and I wish to use them play video games with low latency on PC and listen to music on my iPhone when commute. Thanks in advance.
can you create a profile without anc or transperancy mode ? can you listen to music without anc if you create a new profile ?
Please compare it by all parameters with Jabra Elita 10.
Great that you mentioned about the right earbud ,now they're worth considering.
Bought them today. They're really expensive but they are so worth it. I like them better than my xm5s
I want to see battery charge level in the app for the case and the individual ear buds
@MikeOBrienMedia
So I got these, but Im noticing the call volume is alot lower than other earbuds, especially my last pair, (samsung Galaxy buds 2 pro). Music is loud enough but call volume is considerably lowere than music. In noisy conditions you can bearly hear the other person. Do you have the same issue? BTW I have a samsung galaxy note 20.
What is more good? Qc ultra or devialet Gemini 2?
What about noise suppression? Will people hear background noise when you are on a call with them?
They're not wireless charging compatible are they
How does the ANC compare to the Bose Quiet comfort ultra over ear headphones?
How much better is ANC compared to the new Jabra Elite 8 Active?
Hi Mike. If you could possibly compare the qc2s vs these mic test comparison, that would be amazing.
I have the former and the mic is dismal according to people I telephone with
This
I agree
I agree
I agree
Yup the Ultras I bought and returned had complete CRAP sound for phone calls (Iphone 13 max) It was the fatal flaw of these earbuds. I went with e Sony XM5s instead even though they are an 8.5 on the comfort level. You just get used to it and deal with it. All I can say is COME ON BOSE fix the Ultras and QCII buds to have better phone volume and clarity.
Amazing chart! The first one. I'd love to know where my bose QC 1 sit on it
Are they any louder than the QC 2?
Regarding switching between devices. This seems like a good work around for multipoint. Can anyone confirm if you can still switch devices via the app if the device is say connected to pc?
Hopefully they have better connection longevity. The QCIIs would work great for a matter of weeks then suddenly freak out and need a system restore/re-sync. Mine eventually stopped being able to reconnect to any device and I had to return them.
The charge case looks like my QC2. Are the interchangeable
I have sennheiser earbud and while the sound quality is fantastic, the volume is sorely lacking. Im wondering if the volume of the bose is better while maintaining the sennheiser sound quality
is it the same as their over the ear Bose??
Hesitant to buy these due to many people complaining about buzzing sounds on one of the earbuds, might be looking at the Sony instead but the comfort of the Bose is defineltey tempting!
I have qcii. I bought it 3 months ago. Do u think its worth to upgrade to ultra? How is the sound improvements? I love the sound from qcii.
background noises in some cases overpower a phone call - others [ talking to me ] say they can't hear me very well. This shouldn't happen if it's not a super loud noise, which these were not. I've spoken with @Bose about this and they had me do a hard reset. It maybe improved the issue a little bit.
You have the ultras already? I preordered so I'm hoping to get them early
@@willsrx1 NO; Sorry. QC2’s. These may have the same issue. The background noise reduction for calls is the same. Not sure.
@@m_1m147 oh ok. I had the qc2s also, gave them to my son. Yeah call quality sucked in any background noise. Hoping the ultras really improves the calls. Missing the great ANC for my commute and the aware mode for the subway
Bose for me personaly is the best buds of all and most not rated by reviewers
Can i use one at the time??
I compared these to the XM5s and Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 2. These were very nice but I had strange buzzing noises coming from mine that I couldn't get rid of. The Sonys didn't play loud enough and I was overall disappointed with them. These Bose units did everything really great and the ANC is amazing but that damn buzzing. Maybe I had a bad pair.
How good is the base what would rate at
The QC IIs had terribly loud white noise. How are these in comparison?
Is there still a hissing/white noise when you're not listening to anything?
There is a mild white noise sound that assists the noise cancellation, and I actually do not mind this sound. I prefer the dead silence of AirPods Pro, but this isn’t a deal breaker for me, unlike the static crackle I can hear in the left earbud.
Yeah I’m considering to buy these too but worried about that too especially the buzzing on one of the earbuds that many people report. Might go for the Sony instead if that’s the case
How do you compare them to Jabra Elite 10?
Is the phone quality better this time than the really bad qc II
I'm wearing it now as I'm
Watching 😊this
Is the microphone in both sides ?
I hope these dont have the issue of when you tap on them to use the controls, the noise canceling goes away then comes back. Also when landing on a plane, in a car, etc it's so annoying I'm still using the first gen and bought a second pair for longer flights. The IIs are not as good.
Still waiting for a GOOD pair of wireless ANC sport earbuds with wings
Mike can you do a review on the Noble Audio FoKus Prestige Wireless IEM please
Are they loud ? And are they good for running ?
Does it work under hoodies.?
I have really enjoyed the QC Ultra's and have not experienced any problems with them yet as far as connectivity but maybe that is a problem that will arise later? Personally, I like these better than the Sony WF-1000XM5 because they don't feel awkward in my ear the way the Sony's did. I also like how I can customize the EQ to my preference. As far as I am concerned, I don't think you can customize the EQ with the AirPods as much as you can with the Bose or Sony's unless I missed something. The Bose QC Ultra's are great!
Everyone says it sounds like I'm talking in a bathroom with these and there's no way to manage settings to fix it. Only con is there's minimal customization from pre set modes
I got them but it says on the box “made for iPhone/iPad”. I have an android device, is there a version that’s specifically made for it, even though this one says “works with android”?
I'm good with my sony linkbuds with more than decent ANC and really good audio quality.
do they have touch control?
Hey Mike - I actually returned the Bose Earbuds Ultra twice for lack of noise cancellation on Microphone, it was ridiculous for Bose to miss this. And I don't know if you covered here, but it's a huge miss.
How do these compare to thee JBL Live Pro TWS 2?
They really do fit more securely.
If I mow lawns daily would this work fine?
Can we use in 8 pro
Whats the weight of single earbud?
Mine are on pre order already 😅
Can you use 1 at a time?
Does white noise still exist with these?
connection issue of bluetooth from qc2 makes me hesitated
