    • @ClearAbyss

That's just an excuse people throw at artists in a lame attempt to avoid paying them. They want something you produce but devalue it and the creator at the same time, it's crazy.
Anyone who says that type of stuff is a waste of time. They're just people who want everything for nothing. Since society often looks down on artists, unless their old and long dead, they'll act entitled and think they shouldn't have to pay fairly.

I'll never understand this hunger for the "pinterest-ish cute girl with moist red lips" aesthetic. I feel, everyday i see one in my feed, as if i've seen the same concept, same style , same pose like a million times. I find it deadly boring. But Instagram shows me this stuff over and over instead of the art from accounts i actually follow. I find it more and more annoying to be there and the overflow from content i didn't sign up for and don't want is terrible. A bot might think it understands what i find interesting, but the finesse and details in art i really are drawn to can only be understood by a human. Insta is only a louzy Tiktok wannabe nowadays and a short-attention span RUclips copy. Why didn't they stay in the niche that made them unique?😩

@@sofielindgren3078 I am mostly within the Final Fantasy and Gaming fanart field, and what I found useful is first off, communicating with other artists and giving it time, as well as adding tags to your art of the game and the character (I also add the original language source tag, e.g japanese, so it people all across will see it.)
If we're talking numbers, I suppose the most important thing that I found helped me grow my account much faster is uploading nearly daily (think of it as followers per post) and having a consistent art style. • @SarahRenaeClark

“Feature accounts” get so much more attention in the algorithm than actual creators. Because they can produce high quantities of content (by stealing… *cough* “featuring” art from other people)
Social platforms constantly tell creators that quality is more important than quantity. I’d love to see them actually follow through on promoting the right accounts in the algorithm so these content “farms” stop thriving while the real artists struggle to grow.

Every bloody time I see these "promoting @" in my comments, I get really self-conscious about my artwork. Then I saw other artist get more likes/followers, I fell into depression. I'll be lucky enough to have two digit likes in my post. I keep thinking on "how" and "why" until I felt I worth nothing and that my parents and classmates were right on my skill. It took me a long while to get back to my feet and look at the bright side.
I had to mentally beat myself up for thinking in such negative way and strive to focus on what I always love. I tried so hard to be something I'm not by creating according to trend that I nearly loose my own style.

The promo bots are part of the reason I often forget to make Insta posts. I get so dissuaded by having to wait for all the bots to come in so I can block them and delete their comments.
Also, yes, the horrible commissioners!!! I once had someone email me saying they believed I was the perfect artist for them because my art was super high quality but also cheap (which is...so rude?) and they asked how soon I'd be able to get something done for them. I explained I was in the process of moving and wouldn't be able to start any new projects for about a month, so they dropped me on the spot because they couldn't be bothered to wait that long (it was for a personal piece, btw, not something that had a deadline).
Like--- one of the rules of commissioning is that you can't have all three... Part of the reasons my commissions were so cheap despite the higher quality at the time was because I'm slow to work. This person got upset that they were struggling to find artwork that was cheap, professional-level quality, and had a fast turnaround. Recently I felt like something was odd with Instagram, because I follow some artists and hashtags related to art, but, without notice, the app started showing contents I haven't asked for. Now that I think about that, it comes to my mind another issue, a really annoying one: I love watercolor, but for some "unknown" reason random people in the beach or with bath suits tag their pictures as "watercolor". Come on, people! And I've noticed the thing with the hashtags. They simply do not do any difference in the app. I suspect that even my friends don't see what I share, because I rarely receive any notifications or updates from them as well. one thing on instagram that always makes me roll my eyes are the roleplay accounts that only repost artwork of the character they're supposedly roleplaying as. they always have usernames like "character.officiial" or something. they RP based on the picture they reposted and i just find it kind of creepy. no hate to RPers but don't use other ppl's art for that... :/

It's starting to remind me a little bit of tumblr, because at one point, tumblr was a pretty popular place for artists to post art, but nowadays, because of the new user features that people don't use (ex. chats, though they actually were removed after the latest update), the uneven likes to reblogs ratio, constant spamming of pornbots, nsfw ban (led to less artist exposure as a result of some artists being banned mistakenly and failed to rid of the porn bots) and the hashtags kinda being a bit useless. I post my art on there, and have been since 2015, and due to this, I was considering instagram to post art for a long time. But now, I'm rethinking about making that decision to switch to instagram as you made some pretty good points about how instagram has gotten worse because of the user features and other problems that are currently occurring.

8:48 something similar happened to me one day. I'm not a super talented artist with lots of followers, but I do a lot of comics and artworks of a very famous ship of a famous video game, who get a lot attention. A few of these pages were sharing my stuff with and without my permission, but there was always credit to me and my page was always linked. One day I found one of my comis on said profile without proper credit. I asked them politely to credit me or delete the post. The dude said "f*ck you" and "I don't give a f*ck about your feelings" then they blocked me. I told my followers and asked them to report my comic, what a lot of them did. Eventually the thief deleted my comic and later their whole account.

I started posting my art on TikTok a few months back and noticed it was getting a lot of attention, but it was all the wrong attention. I was completely bombarded with comments from “art critics” that were completely tearing my art apart (all while not even showing their own art btw). Every artist is learning, so for people to act like they know more than you without anything to back it up or show for it is annoying as hell. I decided to stop posting there as the same comments would show up every single time and it literally felt like they were spamming me at one point. Like I’m sure real artists that actually know a thing or two about their craft and have knowledge on the subject would be more busy actually creating art than leaving unsolicited advice to random people on the internet. 🥀🥀🥀

I also don't like that Instagram images have to be certain dimensions. My work ends up being cropped in a way I don't want it to every time. And it's kinda tiring going through the effort of editing the image further just so it'll fit and work just fine, or to confine myself to that size. I like to make single full body images of characters and so I'll crop an image so it's just the character with very little empty space around them.

Gave me hope and a reward. Nowadays no matter what I post, not many see it even if I have a pretty great following from before. And my followers only keep dropping away. I'm just starting out or still at the beginning stages of my IG page, but it's so hard to grow because of the algorithm and the oversaturation of art pages. I feel like IG pages are for art are just for quick consuming and it does not always lead to real jobs in animation or illustration. I've mostly only seen artists get commissions and if not that the likes on each post are what gets the money. A lot of artists are aiming to work as professionals but have no way to break in without knowing someone/networking, instead of their artwork and talent itself. I feel like artists only use Instagram because it's the ONLY source where you can get your work out to the internet on people, it's either that or twitter. And you are right you do have to draw cute girls or you won't be relevant. It's even hard to get your art out there drawing fanart.

  • @koware_yasui29

Every artist had a right to be paid for the work they do as commission as they spend their precious time on making something on others will even if they are enjoying it or not. They put their skills which took them years to build those each and every skills .the supplies they use are of good quality to give quality work. But people be like you keep drawing celebs why can't you draw us for Free but why we should draw anyone for Free. We draw celebs or anything on our own will but when we do customize work people choose what we will draw that's why it's never can be for Free. We should never do those things for Free which people rarely can do and art is a rare skill .it's also a job .
