- I tried to get this assembled and playing this week but just ran out of time. Lots of updates about CAD files and materials. If you make it through the intro... well, you deserve an award that I don't have for you.

Hey, thank you James!
Wow, the Looth Group? Congrats! I can't wait to check that interview out.
I know right. That was crazy talking to some of the biggest names in the business, felt surreal.
Enjoying this series ! Only just manged to watch the 2nd half today.
Great video James! Looking really good. Pretty cool being interviewed by the Luth Group. I mean you have made the big time up there with Ted. I love Ted's channel he is a very talented repair man.
I really like Ted's channel also, he does a great job. In the RUclips video interview with him he talks a lot about how he makes the videos, it was very interesting. Have you watched it?
@@Ninety2guits, don’t think I’ve seen yet.
It's looking really good - can't wait to hear it next week.
inspiring...thanks
Inspiring serie. Havent built a guitar since a graduated from the lutherie school couple years ago. This makes me feels like buying the 2-3 big power tool i still need.
My vote would be to start without the 2-3 big tools you think you need :)!!!
I have just treated myself to a wooden bodied Ozark resonator, and bought a whole load of slides and a bar! decided to try open D!
Really nice work 92 .
Wouldn'r it be something to get feedback from Mr Paul Welten? (It is your recommendation, that I really love what their doing on the resonator and acoustic). Keep up your marvelous work, love watching your videos's!!
I would really like Paul and Fritz to give it a go, not sure how much it would cost me to ship it across the big pond tho. Whatever it costs it's probably worth it. If for no other reason then to get Paul to upload some more great music.
@@Ninety2guits I agree with you on that. Wish they put their playing on a record or something, although turning their visdeos into MP3's do an OK job too. So to say, their in my favorite playlist. Would indeed be a thing to see them play your amazing resonator!! Greetings from the Netherlands.
WWOOOOOOOUUUUAAAOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😉😉😉😉😉
Great video,. I am wondering how the solder would contrast the bell brass color wise, bob
The plan at this point is to use bronze brazing rods rather than silver solder. You have a good point tho, not exactly sure yet how the brass ones will come together, lots and lots of testing to do. I think I'll try and capture more of the testing this time, I left it out of the first build.
As Snakehips says, ‘bell brass’ is just a regular tin/zinc( I think) mix.
Great stuff, hope you find a good player near you.
Pete Towers
Thanks Pete. I just sent an email to Blues Willis who I think is in Texas and he could probably give some great feedback. I'm sure some players will turn up.
"Bell brass" is just a fancy name Dobro used to try make "regular" brass sound better in advertisements. So, FORGET "bell brass". It's just regular BRASS
Interesting. I'd be unstoppable if I had all the knowledge and history in my head like you do. I've been trying to get back over to the MM forum to talk pickups but last week was bonkers busy.
You could Nickel plate a Mild steel body?
Been really enjoying this series. Where else can one see all the details for a build like this? Thanks for sharing your skills. Also, have you considered powdercoating as a finish? Be fun to do something a little out of left field.
Powder coat would be cool but it also seems like the powder coat I've seen is pretty thick. I need to look into it more. I could easily lacquer it just like an automobile, I'll do that soon... probably. The BBQ Kings, that's good stuff. Your bass player has a nice groove.
Great stuff as per usual! Really lookin' forward to seeing you put together a brass model. I also, really like that you continued the maple under the fretboard. Where did you get your stickers made?
The electroform stickers were made in China, which caused an uproar amongst the forum members since my stickers say made in USA... which of course the stickers aren't but the guitars are Lol! This was done way back before electroform stickers were easily purchased by Joe public. I bet there are plenty of places in the US these days that can print electroform stickers.
I watch way too much RUclips but this channel would be the last to go if I decided to cut down....
Thoroughly enjoying these videos…would gun blue work as a finish on the mild steel?
I think that would look amazing but from what I understand bluing has a very negative affect on soldered joints. Makes me a bit nervous given the amount of solder in these things. I haven't looked at the details on how it affects solder so I need to figure that out at some point.
How do I contact you about obtaining the CAD file for your guitar? Thanks, Victor
There is a button you can click on the about page of my channel which will reveal the email address after it verifies you are not a robot. Let me know if that doesn't work, some people can't see it but I'm not sure why. Thanks.
What are you doing to stop the mild steel bodies from rusting? Clear lacquer?
Carnuba wax applied once or twice a year. I'm expecting these to patina fairly quickly, although the first one I built hasn't started to show any signs of patina yet after 5 months. The insides are painted to stop it rusting from the inside out. I'm about to experiment with a stainless steel version which would solve the quick patina process.
I just Emailed you. It may help you wrap your head around the whole 'shipping it to different folks' thing.
Thanks Kerry, some good thoughts in that email.
Which model benzomatic torch did you finally decide on?
I settled on the Benzomatic firepoint creator torch. It's only $75 and runs on propane or map gas. Watch the "how much did it cost" video for all the details. The torch is perfect for this job, don't see a need to change anything about it.
I'm betting it will sound a bit tinny ..........cmon ..... that's funny ....!
Ha ha ! "I'd rather get a root canal from an auto mechanic" !!!! Isn't that why National nickel-plated their guitars ??? That, and to hide the solder, so the whole body looked like one continuous piece of metal (rather than looking like bits joined together)
Yes I think that's exactly why they nickel plated them, but I'm not a big fan of the nickel plating. I'm really interested in seeing how the stainless sounds.
Maybe try hitting up Justin Johnson
I'll second that.
You think he would actually respond? He must be slammed with people wanting things from him, that's gotta get old.
