I usually make mine 24cm × 26cm and I fold the 26cm side in half. Hope this helps. :)

The First piece of cloth is considered the Front of the Trousers! I thought it was an extra piece and found out my mistake when collecting the pieces together,, so you need Front piece , back piece , &the lining.,Thank you For sharing the video with us

What are the white strips you use and iron on? Are they necessary?

That is interfacing, it helps fabric is not stretchy and more beautiful, it's good for beginners to sew easier.
