I can describe the competitive scene as “be in 1st/2nd place at all times or else you’ll be stuck in the cesspool of items 3 miles back for the rest of the race”. Also watch out for baby characters, they’re somehow more toxic than the heavyweights.

Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in my opinion are based on what items you get. Literally nothing to do with skill in the slightest, you can be awesome at Mario Kart but still lose because you get bad items. Really ruined Mario Kart if you ask me, the Wii version will always be the true Mario Kart
